1 In the third year of King Belshazzar a vision appeared to me, Daniel, after the one that had original yappeared to me.	1 L'anno terzo del regno di Baltassarre apparve a me Daniele una visione dopo quel, che aveva veduto a principio.
2 I gazed at the vision, and as I gazed I found myself in Susa, the citadel in the province of Elam; gazingat the vision, I found myself at the Ulai Gate.	2 Vidi la mia visione trovandomi nel castello di Susa, che è nel paese di Elam: e nella visione parvemi di essere sopra la porta di Ulai.
3 I raised my eyes to look, and I saw a ram standing in front of the gate. It had two horns; both were tal ,but one tal er than the other, and the one that rose the higher was the second.	3 E alzai gli occhi miei, e osservai: ed ecco un ariete stava dinanzi alla palude, ed aveva altissime corna, e uno più alto dell'altro, e che andava crescendo. Indi
4 I saw the ram butting westwards, northwards and southwards. No animal could stand up to it, nothingcould escape its power. It did as it pleased and became strong.	4 Vidi l'ariete dare de' colpi colle sue corna contro l'occidente, e contro il settentrione, e contro il mezzodì, e tutte le bestie non potevan resistergli, né liberarsi dalla sua possanza, e fece quello, che volle, e si fece grande.
5 This is what I observed: a he-goat from the west, encroaching over the entire surface of the worldthough never touching the ground, and between its eyes the goat had one majestic horn.	5 Ed io stava in attenzione, ed eccoti un capro dall'occidente scorreva tutta la superficie della terra, e non toccava la terra. Or il capro avea un insigne corno trai due occhi.
6 It advanced on the two-horned ram, which I had seen standing in front of the gate, and charged at it inthe full force of its fury.	6 E si mosse contro quell'ariete ben armato di corna, cui io avea veduto stare vicino alla porta, e corse sopra di lui con tutto l'impeto della sua forza:
7 I saw it reach the ram; it was enraged with the ram and struck it, breaking both its horns, so that theram was not strong enough to hold its ground; it threw it to the ground and trampled it underfoot; no one wasthere to rescue the ram.	7 E avvicinatosi all'ariete, lo attaccò furiosamente, e lo percosse, e gli ruppe due corna, e l'ariete non potea resistergli, ed egli avendolo gettato per terra, lo calpestò, è nissuno potea liberare l'ariete dal suo potere.
8 The he-goat then grew more powerful than ever; but at the height of its strength the great hornsnapped, and in its place sprouted four majestic horns, pointing to the four winds of heaven.	8 E il capro divenne grande formisura, e, cresciuto ch'ei fu, il suo gran corno si ruppe, e nacquero quattro corna in luogo di esso volte ai quattro venti del cielo.
9 From one of these, the smal one, sprang a horn which grew to great size towards south and east andtowards the Land of Splendour.	9 E da uno di questi scappò fuori un piccol corno, e s'ingrandì verso il mezzo giorno, e verso l'oriente, e verso la terra forte;
10 It grew right up to the armies of heaven and flung armies and stars to the ground, and trampled themunderfoot.	10 E s'innalzò anche contro la milizia del cielo: e gettò a terra dei forti, e delle stelle, e le conculcò.
11 It even challenged the power of the Prince of the army; it abolished the perpetual sacrifice andoverthrew the foundation of his sanctuary,	11 E s'innalzò fin contro il principe dei forti, e tolse a lui il sacrifizio perenne, e avvilì il suo luogo santo.
12 and the army too; over the sacrifice it installed iniquity and flung truth to the ground; the horn wasactive and successful.	12 E fu a lui data possanza contro il sacrifizio perenne a motivo de' peccati: e la verità sarà abbattuta sopra la terra: ed egli intraprenderà, e sarà prosperato:
13 I heard a holy one speaking, and another holy one say to the speaker, 'How long is this vision to be --of perpetual sacrifice, of horrifying iniquity, of sanctuary and army trampled underfoot?'	13 E udii uno de' santi, che parlava: e un santo disse all'altro non conosciuto da me, che parlava: Quanto tempo avrà luogo la visione intorno al sagrifizio perenne, e intorno al peccato, causa della desolazione, e alla conculcazione del santuario, e della terra forte?
14 The first replied, 'Until two thousand three hundred evenings and mornings have gone by: then thesanctuary wil have its rights restored.'	14 E quei gli rispose: Per due mila trecento giorni da sera a mattina: e poi sarà mondato il santuario.
15 As I, Daniel, gazed at the vision and tried to understand it, I saw someone standing in front of me wholooked like a man.	15 E mentre io Daniele aveva questa visione, e cercava d'intenderla, ecco che mi fu davanti come una figura di uomo.
16 I heard a human voice cry over the Ulai, 'Gabriel, tell him the meaning of the vision!'	16 E udii la voce di un uomo dentro l'Ulai, il quale sclamò, e disse: Spiegagli, o Gabriel, la visione.
17 He approached the place where I was standing; as he approached, I was seized with terror and fellprostrate on the ground. 'Son of man,' he said to me, 'understand this: the vision shows the time of the End.'	17 E questi venne, e si stette dove io mi stava: e arrivato ch'ei fu, io caddi boccone per il timore, ed ei mi disse: Comprendi, o figliuolo dell'uomo, come nel tempo definito la visione sarà adempiuta.
18 He was stil speaking, when I fainted, face downwards on the ground. He touched me, however, andraised me to my feet.	18 E mentre ei mi parlava, io caddi boccone per terra: ed ei toccommi, e fè rizzarmi su' miei piedi;
19 'Come,' he said, 'I shall tel you what is going to happen when the Retribution is over, about the finaltimes.	19 E mi disse: lo ti dimostrerò le cose, che avverranno nell'ultimo della maledizione; perocché questo tempo ha il suo fine.
20 As for the ram which you saw, its two horns are the kings of Media and of Persia.	20 L'ariete, che tu hai veduto, che avea le corna, egli è il re de' Medi, e de' Persiani.
21 The hairy he-goat is the king of Greece, the large horn between its eyes is the first king.	21 Il capro poi egli è il re de' Greci, e il corno grande, che egli ha trai due occhi, questi è il primo re.
22 The horn which snapped and the four horns which sprouted in its place are four kingdoms rising fromhis nation but not having his strength.	22 Que' quattro corni, i quali, rotto quello, sono spuntati in sua vece, sono quattro regi, i quali s'innalzeranno dalla sua nazione, ma non avranno la fortezza di lui.
23 'And at the end of their reign, when the measure of their sins is ful , a king wil arise, a proud-faced,ingenious-minded man.	23 E dopo il regno di questi quando saran cresciute le iniquità, si leverà su un re impudente, e intelligente di enimmi:
24 His power will grow greater and greater, though not through any power of his own; he wil plotincredible schemes, he wil succeed in whatever he undertakes, he wil destroy powerful men and the holy ones,God's people.	24 E la possanza di lui si fortificherà, ma non pelle sue forze. E oltre ogni credenza, devasterà tutte le cose, e otterrà il suo intento, e sarà intraprendente: e ucciderà i valorosi, e il popolo de' santi.
25 Such wil be his resourcefulness of mind that all his treacherous activities wil succeed. He wil growarrogant of heart and destroy many people by taking them unawares. He wil chal enge the power of the Princeof princes but, without any human intervention, he will be broken.	25 Conforme a lui piacerà, ed egli sarà orditore d'inganni, e si gonfiera in cuor suo, e nella abbondanza di tutte le cose darà morte a moltissimi, e s'inalbererà contro il principe de' principi, e non per opera d'uomo sarà annichilato.
26 The vision of the evenings and the mornings which has been revealed is true, but you must keep thevision secret, for there are stil many days to go.'	26 E la visione della sera, e del mattino, che è stata esposta, è verità. Tu adunque sigilla la visione: perocché ella avrà luogo dopo molti giorni.
27 At this I, Daniel, lost consciousness; I was il for several days. Then I got up to discharge my duties inthe king's service, keeping the vision a secret and still not understanding what it meant.	27 Ed io Daniele mi stetti languente, e ammalato per dei giorni. E risanato trattava gli affari del re; ed era stupefatto della visione, e non era chi la interpretasse.
