1 In the third year of King Belshazzar a vision appeared to me, Daniel, after the one that had original yappeared to me.	1 - Nell'anno terzo del regno del re Baltassar mi apparve una visione. Io, Daniele, dopo quello che aveva veduto da prima,
2 I gazed at the vision, and as I gazed I found myself in Susa, the citadel in the province of Elam; gazingat the vision, I found myself at the Ulai Gate.	2 ebbi una visione trovandomi nel castello di Susa, che è nella contrada di Elam, e nella visione mi pareva di essere sulla Porta Ulai.
3 I raised my eyes to look, and I saw a ram standing in front of the gate. It had two horns; both were tal ,but one tal er than the other, and the one that rose the higher was the second.	3 E alzai gli occhi e stava osservando: quando ecco un ariete, fermo davanti alla palude, aveva corna enormi e uno più alto dell'altro che veniva su crescendo. Dopo
4 I saw the ram butting westwards, northwards and southwards. No animal could stand up to it, nothingcould escape its power. It did as it pleased and became strong.	4 vidi l'ariete scuotere le sue corna contro l'occidente e contro il settentrione e contro il mezzodì e tutte le bestie non potevano fargli resistenza nel liberarsi dalle sue mani e fece quello che volle e diventò strapotente.
5 This is what I observed: a he-goat from the west, encroaching over the entire surface of the worldthough never touching the ground, and between its eyes the goat had one majestic horn.	5 Io stava in attenzione, ed ecco un capro veniva dall'occidente scorrendo sulla faccia di tutta la terra e non toccava il suolo: egli aveva un corno prominente tra i due occhi.
6 It advanced on the two-horned ram, which I had seen standing in front of the gate, and charged at it inthe full force of its fury.	6 E arrivò fino presso quell'ariete bicorne che aveva veduto fermo davanti alla porta, e gli si scagliò contro con tutto l'impeto della sua forza.
7 I saw it reach the ram; it was enraged with the ram and struck it, breaking both its horns, so that theram was not strong enough to hold its ground; it threw it to the ground and trampled it underfoot; no one wasthere to rescue the ram.	7 E quando fu addosso all'ariete, lo attaccò ferocemente e a colpi ripetuti gli spezzò le due corna, lo rese impotente a resistergli e dopo averlo atterrato, lo calpestò e nessuno fu capace di liberare l'ariete dalle mani di lui.
8 The he-goat then grew more powerful than ever; but at the height of its strength the great hornsnapped, and in its place sprouted four majestic horns, pointing to the four winds of heaven.	8 Poi il capro diventò grande fuor di misura e cresciuto così, il suo gran corno si ruppe e quattro altre corna spuntarono sotto di esso, verso i quattro vènti del cielo.
9 From one of these, the smal one, sprang a horn which grew to great size towards south and east andtowards the Land of Splendour.	9 Da uno di questi uscì un altro corno piccolo che s'ingrandì contro il mezzogiorno e contro l'oriente e contro la schiera.
10 It grew right up to the armies of heaven and flung armies and stars to the ground, and trampled themunderfoot.	10 E si sollevò fino alla schiera del cielo, e atterrò parte della schiera e parte delle stelle e le calpestò.
11 It even challenged the power of the Prince of the army; it abolished the perpetual sacrifice andoverthrew the foundation of his sanctuary,	11 E si levò fino al principe della schiera e gli tolse il sacrificio perenne e abbattè il luogo del suo sacrificio.
12 and the army too; over the sacrifice it installed iniquity and flung truth to the ground; the horn wasactive and successful.	12 Gli fu concesso di esercitare la sua prepotenza contro il sacrifizio perenne a causa dei peccati; e che la verità resti schiacciata al suolo ed egli faccia imprese e abbia successi.
13 I heard a holy one speaking, and another holy one say to the speaker, 'How long is this vision to be --of perpetual sacrifice, of horrifying iniquity, of sanctuary and army trampled underfoot?'	13 E udii qualcuno dei santi parlare: e disse un santo a un altro, chi fosse non so, col quale parlava: - Fino a quando staranno in previsione le cose intorno al sacrifizio perenne e al peccato, causa della desolazione avvenuta al santuario e alla schiera per restare calpestata? -
14 The first replied, 'Until two thousand three hundred evenings and mornings have gone by: then thesanctuary wil have its rights restored.'	14 E gli rispose: - Quanti giorni fanno sere e mattine duemilatrecento e il santuario sarà purificato. -
15 As I, Daniel, gazed at the vision and tried to understand it, I saw someone standing in front of me wholooked like a man.	15 Or avvenne mentre che io Daniele era assorto in visione e ne ricercava il significato, ecco si fece davanti a me come la sembianza d'un uomo.
16 I heard a human voice cry over the Ulai, 'Gabriel, tell him the meaning of the vision!'	16 E udii una voce umana, fra mezzo a Ulai, e gridò e disse: - Gabriele, fagli intendere la visione. -
17 He approached the place where I was standing; as he approached, I was seized with terror and fellprostrate on the ground. 'Son of man,' he said to me, 'understand this: the vision shows the time of the End.'	17 E venne e si fermò vicino al luogo dov'io stava, e alla sua venuta intimorito caddi sulla faccia, ma egli mi disse: - Sappi, o figlio dell'uomo, che nel tempo della fine la visione avrà il suo compimento. -
18 He was stil speaking, when I fainted, face downwards on the ground. He touched me, however, andraised me to my feet.	18 E mentre mi parlava così, io giaceva bocconi per terra, ma mi toccò e mi rimise ritto in piedi.
19 'Come,' he said, 'I shall tel you what is going to happen when the Retribution is over, about the finaltimes.	19 Poi mi disse: - Io ti mostrerò ciò che sarà per avvenire nell'ultimo termine della maledizione, perchè il tempo ha il suo fine.
20 As for the ram which you saw, its two horns are the kings of Media and of Persia.	20 L'ariete che hai veduto, armato di corna, è il re dei Medi e dei Persiani.
21 The hairy he-goat is the king of Greece, the large horn between its eyes is the first king.	21 Il capro è il re dei Greci, il gran corno che aveva fra i due occhi è il re stesso, il primo.
22 The horn which snapped and the four horns which sprouted in its place are four kingdoms rising fromhis nation but not having his strength.	22 Rotto quello, quei quattro altri che poi sorsero al suo posto sono quattro re della sua nazione che sorgeranno, ma non della sua potenza.
23 'And at the end of their reign, when the measure of their sins is ful , a king wil arise, a proud-faced,ingenious-minded man.	23 E dopo il loro regno, quando saranno cresciute le iniquità, sorgerà un re sfrontato e perspicace di argomenti;
24 His power will grow greater and greater, though not through any power of his own; he wil plotincredible schemes, he wil succeed in whatever he undertakes, he wil destroy powerful men and the holy ones,God's people.	24 e la sua potenza crescerà, ma non per la sua valentia; e menerà il guasto su tutto oltre ogni credere; e prospererà e agirà. E ucciderà gli uomini di valore e il popolo dei santi
25 Such wil be his resourcefulness of mind that all his treacherous activities wil succeed. He wil growarrogant of heart and destroy many people by taking them unawares. He wil chal enge the power of the Princeof princes but, without any human intervention, he will be broken.	25 a grado della sua volontà, e l'inganno andrà in auge tra le sue mani; e si magnificherà in cuor suo e nell'abbondanza di ogni cosa farà perire moltissimi; e si leverà contro il principe dei principi; poi, senza la mano di nessuno, sarà infranto.
26 The vision of the evenings and the mornings which has been revealed is true, but you must keep thevision secret, for there are stil many days to go.'	26 E la visione delle giornate in sere e mattine che è stata esposta è vera: tu dunque sigilla la visione che dopo molti giorni si compirà. -
27 At this I, Daniel, lost consciousness; I was il for several days. Then I got up to discharge my duties inthe king's service, keeping the vision a secret and still not understanding what it meant.	27 E io, Daniele, rimasi senza forze e stetti ammalato parecchi giorni: e quando mi levai attendeva agli affari del re; era rimasto sbalordito dalla visione, ma nessuno seppe spiegare il perchè.
