Daniel 8

NEW JERUSALEM	EL LIBRO DEL PUEBLO DE DIOS
1 In the third year of King Belshazzar a vision appeared to me, Daniel, after the one that had original yappeared to me.	1 El tercer año del reinado del rey Baltasar, se me presentó una visión, a mí, Daniel, después de aquella que se me había presentado anteriormente.
2 I gazed at the vision, and as I gazed I found myself in Susa, the citadel in the province of Elam; gazingat the vision, I found myself at the Ulai Gate.	2 En esa visión, yo estaba mirando; y mientras miraba, estaba en Susa, la ciudadela que está en la provincia de Elam. En esa visión, yo estaba mirando, y me encontraba junto al río Ulai.
3 I raised my eyes to look, and I saw a ram standing in front of the gate. It had two horns; both were tal ,but one tal er than the other, and the one that rose the higher was the second.	3 Alcé mis ojos, miré, y vi un carnero que estaba parado ante el río. Tenía dos cuernos; los dos cuernos eran altos, pero uno era más alto que el otro, y el más alto se elevó en último término.
4 I saw the ram butting westwards, northwards and southwards. No animal could stand up to it, nothingcould escape its power. It did as it pleased and became strong.	4 Yo vi al carnero que embestía hacia el oeste, hacia el norte y hacia el sur. Ningún animal podía resistir ante él, y nadie podía librar de su poder; él obraba a su arbitrio y se engrandecía.
5 This is what I observed: a he-goat from the west, encroaching over the entire surface of the worldthough never touching the ground, and between its eyes the goat had one majestic horn.	5 Presté atención, y vi un chivo que venía del occidente, sobre la faz de toda la tierra, sin tocar el suelo; ese chivo tenía un cuerno imponente entre sus ojos.
6 It advanced on the two-horned ram, which I had seen standing in front of the gate, and charged at it inthe full force of its fury.	6 Llegó hasta el carnero de los dos cuernos, que yo había visto parado ante el río, y corrió hacia él con todo el ardor de su fuerza.
7 I saw it reach the ram; it was enraged with the ram and struck it, breaking both its horns, so that theram was not strong enough to hold its ground; it threw it to the ground and trampled it underfoot; no one wasthere to rescue the ram.	7 Lo vi avanzar hacia el carnero, hecho una furia contra él; lo golpeó y le quebró sus dos cuernos, y el carnero no tuvo fuerza para resistir ante él: lo arrojó por tierra y lo pisoteó, y no hubo nadie que librara al carnero de su poder.
8 The he-goat then grew more powerful than ever; but at the height of its strength the great hornsnapped, and in its place sprouted four majestic horns, pointing to the four winds of heaven.	8 Así el chivo se engrandeció enormemente; pero una vez que se hizo fuerte, el cuerno grande se quebró, y cuatro cuernos imponentes se elevaron en lugar de él, hacia los cuatro vientos del cielo.
9 From one of these, the smal one, sprang a horn which grew to great size towards south and east andtowards the Land of Splendour.	9 De uno de ellos salió otro cuerno pequeño, que se agrandó mucho hacia el sur, hacia el oriente y hacia la Hermosura.
10 It grew right up to the armies of heaven and flung armies and stars to the ground, and trampled themunderfoot.	10 Se agrandó hasta el Ejército del cielo, hizo caer por tierra a una parte de este Ejército y de las estrellas, y las pisoteó.
11 It even challenged the power of the Prince of the army; it abolished the perpetual sacrifice andoverthrew the foundation of his sanctuary,	11 Se agrandó hasta llegar al Jefe del Ejército y le suprimió el sacrificio perpetuo; el lugar de su Santuario fue avasallado,
12 and the army too; over the sacrifice it installed iniquity and flung truth to the ground; the horn wasactive and successful.	12 lo mismo que su Ejército. Sobre el sacrificio perpetuo fue instalada la iniquidad, y se echó por tierra la verdad. El tuvo éxito en todo lo que emprendió.
13 I heard a holy one speaking, and another holy one say to the speaker, 'How long is this vision to be --of perpetual sacrifice, of horrifying iniquity, of sanctuary and army trampled underfoot?'	13 Entonces oí a un Santo que hablaba, y otro Santo dijo al que hablaba: «¿Hasta cuándo se verá el sacrificio perpetuo suprimido, la iniquidad desoladora instalada, el Lugar santo y el Ejército pisoteados?».
14 The first replied, 'Until two thousand three hundred evenings and mornings have gone by: then thesanctuary wil have its rights restored.'	14 El respondió: «Hasta que pasen dos mil trescientas tardes y mañanas: entonces el Lugar santo será reivindicado».
15 As I, Daniel, gazed at the vision and tried to understand it, I saw someone standing in front of me wholooked like a man.	15 Mientras yo, Daniel, miraba la visión y trataba de comprender, vi que estaba de pie frentea mí alguien con aspecto de hombre.
16 I heard a human voice cry over the Ulai, 'Gabriel, tell him the meaning of the vision!'	16 Y oí una voz de hombre en medio del río Ulai, que gritaba, diciendo: «Gabriel, explícale la aparición a este hombre».
17 He approached the place where I was standing; as he approached, I was seized with terror and fellprostrate on the ground. 'Son of man,' he said to me, 'understand this: the vision shows the time of the End.'	17 El llegó hasta donde yo estaba, y cuando llegó, sentí un gran temor y caí sobre mi rostro. El me dijo: «Entiende, hijo de hombre, que la visión se refiere al tiempo del Fin».
18 He was stil speaking, when I fainted, face downwards on the ground. He touched me, however, andraised me to my feet.	18 Mientras él me hablaba, yo caí en trance con el rostro en tierra. El me tocó y me hizo poner de pie en el lugar donde estaba.
19 'Come,' he said, 'I shall tel you what is going to happen when the Retribution is over, about the finaltimes.	19 Luego añadió: «Voy a hacerte saber lo que sucederá al término de la Indignación, porque el Fin llegará en el momento fijado.
20 As for the ram which you saw, its two horns are the kings of Media and of Persia.	20 El carnero que viste con dos cuernos representa a los reyes de los medos y de los persas;
21 The hairy he-goat is the king of Greece, the large horn between its eyes is the first king.	21 el chivo velludo es el rey de Javán, y el gran cuerno que estaba entre sus ojos es el primer rey.
22 The horn which snapped and the four horns which sprouted in its place are four kingdoms rising fromhis nation but not having his strength.	22 Una vez quebrado este, los cuatro que surgieron en lugar de él son los cuatro reinos que surgirán de su nación, pero no con su misma fuerza.
23 'And at the end of their reign, when the measure of their sins is ful , a king wil arise, a proud-faced,ingenious-minded man.	23 Al fin de su reinado, cuando los pecadores hayan colmado la medida, surgirá un rey atrevido y astuto.
24 His power will grow greater and greater, though not through any power of his own; he wil plotincredible schemes, he wil succeed in whatever he undertakes, he wil destroy powerful men and the holy ones,God's people.	24 Su poderío se acrecentará, pero no por su propia fuerza;causará destrucciones inauditas y tendrá éxito en lo que emprenda, destruirá a los poderosos, al pueblo de los Santos.
25 Such wil be his resourcefulness of mind that all his treacherous activities wil succeed. He wil growarrogant of heart and destroy many people by taking them unawares. He wil chal enge the power of the Princeof princes but, without any human intervention, he will be broken.	25 Gracias a su astucia, el engaño triunfará por medio de él, su corazón se ensoberbecerá y destruirá tranquilamente a muchos. Se alzará contra el Jefe de los jefes, pero luego será destrozado sin que intervenga ninguna mano.
26 The vision of the evenings and the mornings which has been revealed is true, but you must keep thevision secret, for there are stil many days to go.'	26 La visión de las tardes y las mañanas, tal como ha sido expuesta, es verdad. En cuanto a ti, oculta la visión, porque es para días lejanos».
27 At this I, Daniel, lost consciousness; I was il for several days. Then I got up to discharge my duties inthe king's service, keeping the vision a secret and still not understanding what it meant.	27 Yo, Daniel, me desvanecí y estuve enfermo varios días. Luego me levanté y me dediqué a los asuntos del rey. La visión me dejó perplejo, y no atinaba a comprender.
