New Jerusalem Bible La Biblia
'At that time Michael wil arise -- the great Prince, defender of your people. That wil be a time of greatdistress, unparal eled since nations first came into existence.
'Of those who are sleeping in the Land of Dust, many wil awaken, some to everlasting life, some toshame and everlasting disgrace.2 Muchos de los que duermen en el polvo de la tierra despertarán: unos para vida eterna, otros para vergüenza e ignominia perpetua.
Those who are wise wil shine as brightly as the expanse of the heavens, and those who haveinstructed many in uprightness, as bright as stars for al eternity.3 Los sabios brillarán como el fulgor del firmamento, y los que enseñaron a muchos la justicia, como las estrellas, por toda la eternidad».
'But you, Daniel, must keep these words secret and keep the book sealed until the time of the End.Many wil roam about, this way and that, and wickedness wil continue to increase.'4 «Tú, Daniel, guarda estas palabras y sella este libro hasta el momento final. Muchos lo repasarán y aumentarán su saber».
I, Daniel, then looked and saw two other people standing, one on the near bank of the river, the otheron the far.5 Yo, Daniel, vi a otros dos hombres de pie, uno a esta parte del río y el otro a la otra parte del río.
One of them said to the man dressed in linen who was standing further up the stream, 'How long untilthese wonders take place?'6 Y pregunté al hombre vestido de lino, que se cernía sobre el agua del río: —¿Cuándo se cumplirán estos prodigios?
I heard the man speak who was dressed in linen, standing further up the stream: he raised his righthand and his left to heaven and swore by him who lives for ever, 'A time and two times, and half a time; and althese things wil come true, once the crushing of the holy people's power is over.'7 El hombre vestido de lino, que se cernía sobre el agua del río, alzó la mano derecha y la izquierda al cielo, y le oí jurar por el que vive eternamente: «Un tiempo y dos tiempos y medio tiempo. Cuando acabe la opresión del pueblo santo, se cumplirá todo esto».
I listened but did not understand. I then said, 'My lord, what is to be the outcome?'8 Yo oí sin entender y pregunté: —Mi Señor, ¿cuál será el desenlace?
'Go, Daniel,' he said. 'These words are to remain secret and sealed until the time of the End.9 Me respondió: —Vete, Daniel. Las palabras están guardadas y selladas hasta el momento final.
Many wil be cleansed, made white and purged; the wicked will persist in doing wrong; the wicked willnever understand; those who are wise wil understand.10 Muchos serán limpiados, blanqueados y purificados; los malvados seguirán en su maldad, sin que ninguno de los malvados entienda; los maestros comprenderán.
From the moment that the perpetual sacrifice is abolished and the appal ing abomination set up: athousand two hundred and ninety days.11 Desde que supriman el sacrificio cotidiano y coloquen la abominación de la desolación, pasarán mil doscientos noventa días.
Blessed is he who perseveres and attains a thousand three hundred and thirty-five days.12 Dichoso el que aguarde hasta que pasen mil trescientos treinta y cinco días.
But you, go away and rest; and you wil rise for your reward at the end of time.'13 Tú, vete hasta el final y descansa. Te alzarás a recibir tu destino al final de los días.
