Daniel 12

NEW JERUSALEM	NOVA VULGATA
1 'At that time Michael wil arise -- the great Prince, defender of your people. That wil be a time of greatdistress, unparal eled since nations first came into existence. When that time comes, your own people wil bespared -- al those whose names are found written in the Book.	1 In tempore autem illo con surget Michael, princeps magnus, qui stat profiliis populi tui, et erit tempus angustiae, quale non fuit ab eo, quo gentesesse coeperunt, usque ad tempus illud. Et in tempore illo salvabitur populustuus, omnis, qui inventus fuerit scriptus in libro.
2 'Of those who are sleeping in the Land of Dust, many wil awaken, some to everlasting life, some toshame and everlasting disgrace.	2 Et multi de his, quidormiunt in terra pulveris, evigilabunt: alii in vitam aeternam, et alii inopprobrium sempiternum.
3 Those who are wise wil shine as brightly as the expanse of the heavens, and those who haveinstructed many in uprightness, as bright as stars for al eternity.	3 Qui autem docti fuerint, fulgebunt quasi splendorfirmamenti; et, qui ad iustitiam erudierint multos, quasi stellae in perpetuasaeternitates.
4 'But you, Daniel, must keep these words secret and keep the book sealed until the time of the End.Many wil roam about, this way and that, and wickedness wil continue to increase.'	4 Tu autem, Daniel, claude sermones et signa librum usque adtempus finis; pertransibunt plurimi, et multiplex erit scientia ”.
5 I, Daniel, then looked and saw two other people standing, one on the near bank of the river, the otheron the far.	5 Et vidiego Daniel: et ecce duo alii stabant, unus hinc super ripam fluminis, et aliusinde ex altera ripa fluminis.
6 One of them said to the man dressed in linen who was standing further up the stream, 'How long untilthese wonders take place?'	6 Et dixit viro, qui indutus erat lineis, quistabat super aquas fluminis: “ Usquequo finis horum mirabilium? ”.
7 I heard the man speak who was dressed in linen, standing further up the stream: he raised his righthand and his left to heaven and swore by him who lives for ever, 'A time and two times, and half a time; and althese things wil come true, once the crushing of the holy people's power is over.'	7 Etaudivi virum, qui indutus erat lineis, qui stabat super aquas fluminis, cumlevasset dexteram et sinistram suam in caelum et iurasset per Viventem inaeternum: “ Quia in tempus, tempora et dimidium temporis; et cum completafuerit dispersio manus populi sancti, complebuntur universa haec ”.
8 I listened but did not understand. I then said, 'My lord, what is to be the outcome?'	8 Et egoaudivi et non intellexi et dixi: “ Domine mi, quid erit finis horum? ”.
9 'Go, Daniel,' he said. 'These words are to remain secret and sealed until the time of the End.	9 Etait: “ Vade, Daniel, quia clausi sunt signatique sermones usque ad tempuspraefinitum.
10 Many wil be cleansed, made white and purged; the wicked will persist in doing wrong; the wicked willnever understand; those who are wise wil understand.	10 Purificabuntur et dealbabuntur et probabuntur multi, et impieagent impii, neque intellegent omnes impii; porro docti intellegent.
11 From the moment that the perpetual sacrifice is abolished and the appal ing abomination set up: athousand two hundred and ninety days.	11 Et atempore, cum ablatum fuerit iuge sacrificium, et posita fuerit abominatiovastatoris, dies mille ducenti nonaginta.
12 Blessed is he who perseveres and attains a thousand three hundred and thirty-five days.	12 Beatus, qui exspectat et pervenitusque ad dies mille trecentos triginta quinque.
13 But you, go away and rest; and you wil rise for your reward at the end of time.'	13 Tu autem vade ad finem etrequiesce; et stabis in sorte tua in fine dierum ”. (Hucusque Daniel in Hebraeo volumine legimus. Cetera, quae sequuntur usque adfinem libri, de Theodotionis editione translata sunt).
