Ezekiel 24

NEW JERUSALEM	NOVA VULGATA
1 In the ninth year, on the tenth day of the tenth month, the word of Yahweh was addressed to me asfol ows,	1 Et factum est verbum Do mini ad me in anno nono, in mense decimo, decimamensis, dicens:
2 'Son of man, write down today's date, yes, today's, for this very day the king of Babylon began hisattack on Jerusalem.	2 “Fili hominis, scribe tibi nomen diei huius, in quaaggressus est rex Babylonis adversum Ierusalem hodie.
3 So pronounce a parable for this tribe of rebels. Say, "The Lord Yahweh says this: Put the pot on thefire; put it on; pour the water in!	3 Et dices per proverbiumad domum irritatricem parabolam et loqueris ad eos: Haec dicit Dominus Deus: Pone ollam; pone, inquam, et mitte in ea aquam.
4 Now put the cuts of meat al in together, al the best cuts, leg and shoulder. Fill it with the best bones.	4 Congere frusta eius in ea, omnem partem bonam, femur et armum, electis ossibus imple eam,
5 Take the best of the flock, then heap wood underneath; boil it thoroughly until even the bones arecooked.	5 pinguissimum pecus assume. Compone quoque struem lignorum sub ea; effervescant frusta eius, et coque ossa illius in medio eius.
6 "For the Lord Yahweh says this: Disaster is in store for the bloody city, for that rusty cooking pot whose rust wil not come off! Empty it, bit by bit, not bothering to draw lots;	6 Propterea haec dicit Dominus Deus: Vae civitati sanguinum, ollae, cuius rubigo in ea est, et rubigo eius non exivit de ea! Per partes et per partes suas eice ex ea, neque cadat super eam sors.
7 for she is stil ful of bloodshed, she has put blood on the naked rock; she did not pour it on the groundso as to cover it with dust.	7 Sanguis enim eius in medio eius est, super limpidissimam petram effudit illum; non effudit illum super terram, ut possit operiri pulvere;
8 To make anger rise, to exact vengeance, I have put her blood on the naked rock, so that it should notbe covered:	8 ut superducerem indignationem meam et vindicta ulciscerer, dedi sanguinem eius super petram limpidissimam, ne operiretur.
9 "So, the Lord Yahweh says this: Disaster is in store for the bloody city! I too plan to build a great fire.	9 Propterea haec dicit Dominus Deus: Vae civitati sanguinum, cuius ego grandem faciam pyram!
10 Heap on the wood, light it, cook the meat, prepare the seasoning let the bones burn!	10 Congere ligna, succende ignem, coque carnes usque ad consumptionem et effunde ius, et ossa comburentur.
11 Put the empty pot on the coals to make it hot, until the bronze glows, the filth inside melts and therust is burnt away!	11 Relinque quoque eam super prunas vacuam, ut incalescat, et ardescat aes eius, et confletur in medio eius inquinamentum eius, et consumatur rubigo eius.
12 "But al that rust would not come off in the fire.	12 Multo labore sudatum est, et non exibit de ea nimia rubigo eius, neque per ignem.
13 Your filth is infamous. Since I have tried to purge you and you would not let yourself be purged ofyour filth, so now you wil never be purged of your filth until I have sated my anger on you.	13 Immunditia tua execrabilis, quia mundare te volui, et non es mundata asordibus tuis; sed nec mundaberis prius, donec quiescere faciam indignationemmeam in te.
14 I, Yahweh, have spoken; this wil happen; I shal act and not relent; I shal show no pity, nocompassion. You will be judged as your conduct and actions deserve -- declares the Lord Yahweh." '	14 Ego Dominus locutus sum; veniet et faciam: non indulgebo necparcam nec placabor. Iuxta vias tuas et iuxta opera tua iudicabo te ”, dicitDominus.
15 The word of Yahweh was addressed to me as fol ows,	15 Et factum est verbum Domini ad me dicens:
16 'Son of man, at a blow I am about to deprive you of the delight of your eyes. But you are not tolament, not to weep, not to let your tears run down.	16 “ Fili hominis, ecce ego tolloa te delicias oculorum tuorum in plaga, et non planges neque plorabis, nequefluent lacrimae tuae.
17 Groan in silence, do not go into mourning for the dead, knot your turban round your head, put yoursandals on your feet, do not cover your beard, do not eat the usual food.'	17 Ingemisce tacens, mortuorum luctum non facies, coronatua circumligata sit tibi, et calceamenta tua pones in pedibus tuis nec amictuora velabis nec cibos lugentium comedes ”.
18 I told this to the people in the morning, and my wife died in the evening, and the next morning I did asI had been ordered.	18 Locutus sum ergo ad populummane, et mortua est uxor mea vespere; fecique mane, sicut praeceperat mihi.
19 The people then said to me, 'Will you not explain what meaning these actions have for us?'	19 Et dixit ad me populus: “ Quare non indicas nobis, quid ista significent, quaetu facis? ”.
20 I replied, 'The word of Yahweh has been addressed to me as fol ows,	20 Et dixi ad eos: “ Sermo Domini factus est ad me dicens:
21 "Say to the House of Israel, the Lord Yahweh says this: I am about to profane my sanctuary, thepride of your strength, the delight of your eyes, the joy of your hearts. Your sons and daughters whom you haveleft behind wil fall by the sword.	21 Loquere domui Israel: Haec dicit Dominus Deus: Ecce ego polluam sanctuariummeum, superbiam roboris vestri et delicias oculorum vestrorum et sollicitudinemanimae vestrae. Filii vestri et filiae, quas reliquistis, gladio cadent.
22 Then you wil do as I have done: you wil not cover your beards or eat the usual food;	22 Etfacietis, sicut feci: ora amictu non velabitis et cibos lugentium non comedetis,
23 you will keep your turbans on your heads and your sandals on your feet; you wil not lament or weepbut will waste away for your crimes, groaning among yourselves.	23 coronas habebitis in capitibus vestris et calceamenta in pedibus, nonplangetis neque flebitis, sed tabescetis in iniquitatibus vestris, etunusquisque gemet ad fratrem suum.
24 Thus Ezekiel is a sign for you. You wil do exactly what he has done. And when this happens, you willknow that I am Lord Yahweh!"	24 Eritque Ezechiel vobis in portentum: iuxtaomnia, quae fecit, facietis, cum venerit istud, et scietis quia ego DominusDeus.
25 'And, son of man, the day that I deprive them of their strength, their crowning joy, the delight of theireyes, the joy of their hearts, their sons and daughters,	25 Et tu, fili hominis, ecce in die, quo tollam ab eis fortitudinem eorum etgaudium magnificentiae et delicias oculorum eorum et desiderium animae eorum,filios et filias eorum;
26 that day a survivor wil bring you the news.	26 in die illa, cum venerit fugiens ad te, ut annuntiettibi,
27 That day your mouth wil be opened to speak to the survivor; you wil speak and no longer be dumb;you wil be a sign for them, and they wil know that I am Yahweh.'	27 in die, inquam, illa aperietur os tuum cum eo, qui fugit; et loqueriset non silebis ultra erisque eis in portentum, et scient quia ego Dominus ”.
