Baruch 5

NEW JERUSALEM	VULGATA
1 Jerusalem, take off your dress of sorrow and distress, put on the beauty of God's glory for evermore,	1 Exue te, Jerusalem, stola luctus et vexationis tuæ, et indue te decore, et honore ejus, quæ a Deo tibi est, sempiternæ gloriæ.
2 wrap the cloak of God's saving justice around you, put the diadem of the Eternal One's glory on yourhead,	2 Circumdabit te Deus diploide justitiæ, et imponet mitram capiti honoris æterni.
3 for God means to show your splendour to every nation under heaven,	3 Deus enim ostendet splendorem suum in te, omni qui sub cælo est.
4 and the name God gives you for evermore wil be, 'Peace-through-Justice, and Glory-through-Devotion'.	4 Nominabitur enim tibi nomen tuum a Deo in sempiternum : pax justitiæ, et honor pietatis.
5 Arise, Jerusalem, stand on the heights and turn your eyes to the east: see your children reassembledfrom west and east at the Holy One's command, rejoicing because God has remembered.	5 Exsurge, Jerusalem, et sta in excelso : et circumspice ad orientem, et vide collectos filios tuos ab oriente sole usque ad occidentem, in verbo Sancti, gaudentes Dei memoria.
6 Though they left you on foot driven by enemies, now God brings them back to you, carried gloriously,like a royal throne.	6 Exierunt enim abs te pedibus ducti ab inimicis : adducet autem illos Dominus ad te portatos in honore sicut filios regni :
7 For God has decreed the flattening of each high mountain, of the everlasting hills, the fil ing of theval eys to make the ground level so that Israel can walk safely in God's glory.	7 constituit enim Deus humiliare omnem montem excelsum et rupes perennes, et convalles replere in æqualitatem terræ, ut ambulet Israël diligenter in honorem Dei.
8 And the forests and every fragrant tree wil provide shade for Israel, at God's command;	8 Obumbraverunt autem et silvæ, et omne lignum suavitatis Israël ex mandato Dei.
9 for God wil guide Israel in joy by the light of his glory, with the mercy and saving justice which comefrom him. A copy of the letter which Jeremiah sent to those about to be led captive to Babylon by the king of theBabylonians, to tel them what he had been commanded by God:	9 Adducet enim Deus Israël cum jucunditate in lumine majestatis suæ, cum misericordia et justitia quæ est ex ipso.
