NEW JERUSALEM	BIBLES DES PEUPLES
1 Jerusalem, take off your dress of sorrow and distress, put on the beauty of God's glory for evermore,	1 Quitte ta robe de deuil et de tristesse, Jérusalem, revêts-toi pour toujours de la Gloire du Dieu.
2 wrap the cloak of God's saving justice around you, put the diadem of the Eternal One's glory on yourhead,	2 Drape-toi dans le manteau de droiture qui t’arrive de Dieu, et couronne ta tête de la Gloire de l’Éternel.
3 for God means to show your splendour to every nation under heaven,	3 Il veut révéler ta beauté à tout être vivant sous le ciel,
4 and the name God gives you for evermore wil be, 'Peace-through-Justice, and Glory-through-Devotion'.	4 et pour toujours il te donne ce nom: “Paix dans la Justice”, “Splendeur dans la crainte de Dieu”.
5 Arise, Jerusalem, stand on the heights and turn your eyes to the east: see your children reassembledfrom west and east at the Holy One's command, rejoicing because God has remembered.	5 Lève-toi Jérusalem, porte-toi sur les hauteurs et regarde vers l’orient. Vois tes enfants qui se rassemblent du couchant jusqu’au levant à la parole du Saint; ils sont tout à la joie car Dieu s’est souvenu d’eux.
6 Though they left you on foot driven by enemies, now God brings them back to you, carried gloriously,like a royal throne.	6 Ils t’avaient quittée à pied, enlevés par l’ennemi, Dieu les ramène en carrosses, honorés comme des princes royaux.
7 For God has decreed the flattening of each high mountain, of the everlasting hills, the fil ing of theval eys to make the ground level so that Israel can walk safely in God's glory.	7 Car Dieu a décidé de niveler les montagnes hautes, les collines éternelles, de combler les vallées et d’aplanir le sol, pour qu’Israël marche d’un pas sûr, abrité par la gloire de son Dieu.
8 And the forests and every fragrant tree wil provide shade for Israel, at God's command;	8 Sur l’ordre de Dieu, les forêts elles-mêmes et tous les arbres odorants prêteront leur ombre à Israël.
9 for God wil guide Israel in joy by the light of his glory, with the mercy and saving justice which comefrom him. A copy of the letter which Jeremiah sent to those about to be led captive to Babylon by the king of theBabylonians, to tel them what he had been commanded by God:	9 Oui, Dieu conduira Israël en fête à la lumière de sa gloire, sa miséricorde et sa justice lui feront escorte.
