1 Jerusalem, take off your dress of sorrow and distress, put on the beauty of God's glory for evermore,	1 - Deponi, o Gerusalemme, la veste di lutto e di afflizione, e ammàntati dello splendore e della maestàdi quella, che ti vien da Dio, veste di gloria sempiterna.
2 wrap the cloak of God's saving justice around you, put the diadem of the Eternal One's glory on yourhead,	2 Il Signore ti rivestirà del manto della giustiziae ti metterà sul capo una mitra di gloria eterna.
3 for God means to show your splendour to every nation under heaven,	3 Perchè Dio, da per tutto sotto al cielo, mostrerà in te il suo splendore.
4 and the name God gives you for evermore wil be, 'Peace-through-Justice, and Glory-through-Devotion'.	4 Perchè da Dio sarà imposto nome a te per sempre: pace di giustizia e gloria di pietà.
5 Arise, Jerusalem, stand on the heights and turn your eyes to the east: see your children reassembledfrom west and east at the Holy One's command, rejoicing because God has remembered.	5 Sorgi, o Gerusalemme, rizzati sulla tua cima, gira lo sguardo da oriente e vedi i figli tuoi da oriente fino in occidente insiem raccolti nella parola del Santo esultanti, della memoria che di loro ha avuto Iddio.
6 Though they left you on foot driven by enemies, now God brings them back to you, carried gloriously,like a royal throne.	6 Sono usciti da te a piedi, trascinati dai nemici, e il Signore te li ricondurrà portati in trionfo, come progenie regale.
7 For God has decreed the flattening of each high mountain, of the everlasting hills, the fil ing of theval eys to make the ground level so that Israel can walk safely in God's glory.	7 Dio ha decretato di abbassare ogni eccelso monte e le secolari rupi, e di riempire le valli, uguagliando il suolo; affinchè Israele cammini speditamente alla gloria di Dio.
8 And the forests and every fragrant tree wil provide shade for Israel, at God's command;	8 Anche le selve presteranno l'ombra e ogni pianta il suo soave olezzo a Israele, per comando di Dio.
9 for God wil guide Israel in joy by the light of his glory, with the mercy and saving justice which comefrom him. A copy of the letter which Jeremiah sent to those about to be led captive to Babylon by the king of theBabylonians, to tel them what he had been commanded by God:	9 E Dio ricondurrà Israele nell'allegrezza, sotto il lume della sua maestà, con la misericordia e la giustiziache vengono da lui.
