NEW JERUSALEM	EL LIBRO DEL PUEBLO DE DIOS
1 Almighty Lord, God of Israel, a soul in anguish, a troubled heart now cries to you:	1 Señor todopoderoso, Dios de Israel, es un alma angustiada y un espíritu acongojado el que grita hacia ti.
2 Listen and have pity, Lord, for we have sinned before you.	2 Escucha, Señor, y ten piedad, porque hemos pecado contra ti.
3 You sit enthroned for ever, while we are perishing for ever.	3 Tú permaneces para siempre, mientras que nosotros perecemos para siempre.
4 Almighty Lord, God of Israel, hear the prayer of the dead of Israel, of the children of those who havesinned against you and have not listened to the voice of the Lord their God; hence the disasters which dog us.	4 Señor todopoderoso, Dios de Israel, escucha la plegaria de los muertos de Israel, de los hijos de aquellos que han pecado contra ti y no han escuchado la voz del Señor, su Dios, por lo que han caído sobre nosotros estas calamidades.
5 Do not cal to mind the misdeeds of our ancestors, but remember instead your power and your name.	5 No te acuerdes de las injusticias de nuestros padres, sino acuérdate en este momento de tu mano y de tu Nombre.
6 You are indeed the Lord our God and we wil praise you, Lord,	6 Porque tú eres el Señor, nuestro Dios, y nosotros te alabaremos, Señor .
7 since you have put respect for you in our hearts to encourage us to cal on your name. We long topraise you in our exile, for we have rid our hearts of the wickedness of our ancestors who sinned against you.	7 Sí, tú has infundido tu temor en nuestro corazón, para que invocáramos tu Nombre, y nosotros te alabaremos en nuestro exilio, porque hemos arrojado de nuestro corazón toda la injusticia de nuestros padres que pecaron contra ti.
8 Look, today we are still in exile where you have scattered us as something contemptible, accursed,condemned, for al the misdeeds of our ancestors who had abandoned the Lord our God.	8 Aquí estamos hoy en la tierra de nuestro exilio donde tú nos has dispersado, soportando el oprobio, la maldición y la condena, por todas las injusticias de nuestros padres, que se apartaron del Señor, nuestro Dios.
9 Listen, Israel, to commands that bring life; hear, and learn what knowledge means.	9 Escucha, Israel, los mandamientos de vida; presta atención para aprender a discernir.
10 Why, Israel, why are you in the country of your enemies, growing older and older in an alien land,	10 ¿Por qué, Israel, estás en un país de enemigos y has envejecido en una tierra extranjera?
11 defiling yourselves with the dead, reckoned with those who go to Sheol?	11 ¿Por qué te has contaminado con los muertos, contándote entre los que bajan al Abismo?
12 It is because you have forsaken the fountain of wisdom!	12 ¡Tú has abandonado la fuente de la sabiduría!
13 Had you walked in the way of God, you would be living in peace for ever.	13 Si hubieras seguido el camino de Dios, vivirías en paz para siempre.
14 Learn where knowledge is, where strength, where understanding, and so learn where length of days is,where life, where the light of the eyes and where peace.	14 Aprende dónde está el discernimiento, dónde está la fuerza y dónde la inteligencia, para conocer al mismo tiempo dónde está la longevidad y la vida, dónde la luz de los ojos y la paz.
15 But who has found out where she lives, who has entered her treasure house?	15 ¿Quién ha encontrado el lugar de la Sabiduría, quién ha penetrado en sus tesoros?
16 Where now are the leaders of the nations and those who ruled even the beasts of earth,	16 ¿Dónde están los jefes de las naciones, los que dominaban las bestias de la tierra
17 those who sported with the birds of heaven, those who accumulated silver and gold on which alpeople rely, and whose possessions had no end,	17 y se divertían con las aves del cielo; los que atesoraban la plata y el oro, en los que los hombres ponen su confianza, y cuyas posesiones no tenían límite;
18 those who worked so carefully in silver -but of whose works no trace is to be found?	18 los que trabajaban la plata con tanto cuidado, que sus obras sobrepasan la imaginación?
19 They have vanished, gone down to Sheol. Others have risen to their places,	19 Ellos han desaparecido, han bajado al Abismo, y han surgido otros en su lugar.
20 more recent generations have seen the day and peopled the earth in their turn, but the way ofknowledge they have not found;	20 Otros más jóvenes han visto la luz y han habitado sobre la tierra, pero no han conocido el camino de la ciencia,
21 they have not recognised the paths she treads. Nor have their children had any grasp of her, remainingfar from her way.	21 no han comprendido sus senderos. Tampoco sus hijos la han alcanzado y se han alejado de sus caminos.
22 Nothing has been heard of her in Canaan, nothing has been seen of her in Teman;	22 No se oyó nada de ella en Canaán, ni se la vio en Temán.
23 the children of Hagar in search of worldly wisdom, the merchants of Midian and Teman, the tale-spinners and the philosophers have none of them found the way to wisdom or remembered the paths shetreads.	23 Ni siquiera los hijos de Agar, que buscan la ciencia sobre la tierra, ni los mercaderes de Merrán y de Temán, inventores de fábulas y buscadores de inteligencia, han conocido el camino de la sabiduría, ni se han acordado de sus senderos.
24 How great, Israel, is the house of God, how wide his domain,	24 ¡Qué grande, Israel, es la morada de Dios, qué extenso es el lugar de su dominio!
25 immeasurably wide, infinitely lofty!	25 ¡Es grande y no tiene fin, excelso y sin medida!
26 In it were born the giants, famous from the beginning, immensely tal , expert in war;	26 Allí nacieron los famosos gigantes de los primeros tiempos, de gran estatura y expertos en la guerra.
27 God's choice did not fall on these, he did not show them the way of knowledge;	27 Pero no fue a ellos a quienes Dios eligió y les dio el camino de la ciencia;
28 they perished for lack of wisdom, perished by their own folly.	28 ellos perecieron por su falta de discernimiento, perecieron por su insensatez.
29 Who has ever climbed the sky and seized her to bring her down from the clouds?	29 ¿Quién subió al cielo para tomarla y hacerla bajar de las nubes?
30 Who has ever crossed the ocean and found her to bring her back in exchange for the finest gold?	30 ¿Quién atravesó el mar para encontrarla y traerla a precio de oro fino?
31 No one can learn the way to her, no one can understand the path she treads.	31 Nadie conoce su camino, ni puede comprender su sendero.
32 But the One who knows al discovers her, he has grasped her with his own intel ect, he has set theearth firm for evermore and filled it with four-footed beasts,	32 Pero el que todo lo sabe, la conoce, la penetró con su inteligencia; el que formó la tierra para siempre, y la llenó de animales cuadrúpedos;
33 he sends the light -- and it goes, he recal s it -- and trembling it obeys;	33 el que envía la luz, y ella sale, la llama, y ella obedece temblando.
34 the stars shine joyful y at their posts;	34 Las estrellas brillan alegres en sus puestos de guardia:
35 when he cal s them, they answer, 'Here we are'; they shine to delight their Creator.	35 él las llama, y ellas responden: «Aquí estamos», y brillan alegremente para aquel que las creó.
36 It is he who is our God, no other can compare with him.	36 ¡Este es nuestro Dios, ningún otro cuenta al lado de él!
37 He has uncovered the whole way of knowledge and shown it to his servant Jacob, to Israel his wel -beloved;	37 El penetró todos los caminos de la ciencia y se la dio a Jacob, su servidor, y a Israel, su predilecto.
38 only then did she appear on earth and live among human beings.	38 Después de esto apareció sobre la tierra, y vivió entre los hombres.
