NEW JERUSALEM	BIBLIA
1 Almighty Lord, God of Israel, a soul in anguish, a troubled heart now cries to you:	1 Señor omnipotente, Dios de Israel, mi alma en angustia, mi espíritu abatido es el que clama a ti.
2 Listen and have pity, Lord, for we have sinned before you.	2 Escucha, Señor, ten piedad, porque hemos pecado ante ti.
3 You sit enthroned for ever, while we are perishing for ever.	3 Pues tú te sientas en tu trono eternamente; mas nosotros por siempre perecemos.
4 Almighty Lord, God of Israel, hear the prayer of the dead of Israel, of the children of those who havesinned against you and have not listened to the voice of the Lord their God; hence the disasters which dog us.	4 Señor omnipotente, Dios de Israel, escucha la oración los muertos de Israel, de los hijos de aquellos que pecaron contra ti: desoyeron ellos la voz del Señor su Dios, y por eso se han pegado a nosotros estos males.
5 Do not cal to mind the misdeeds of our ancestors, but remember instead your power and your name.	5 No te acuerdes de las iniquidades de nuestros padres, sino acuérdate de tu mano y de tu Nombre en esta hora.
6 You are indeed the Lord our God and we wil praise you, Lord,	6 Pues eres el Señor Dios nuestro, y nosotros queremos alabarte, Señor.
7 since you have put respect for you in our hearts to encourage us to cal on your name. We long topraise you in our exile, for we have rid our hearts of the wickedness of our ancestors who sinned against you.	7 Para eso pusiste tu temor en nuestros corazones, para que invocáramos tu Nombre. Queremos alabarte en nuestro destierro, porque hemos apartado de nuestro corazón toda la iniquidad de nuestros padres, que pecaron ante ti.
8 Look, today we are still in exile where you have scattered us as something contemptible, accursed,condemned, for al the misdeeds of our ancestors who had abandoned the Lord our God.	8 Aquí estamos todavía en nuestro destierro, donde tú nos dispersaste, para que fuésemos oprobio, maldición y condenación por todas las iniquidades de nuestros padres que apartaron del Señor Dios nuestro.
9 Listen, Israel, to commands that bring life; hear, and learn what knowledge means.	9 Escucha, Israel, los mandamientos de vida, tiende tu oído para conocer la prudencia.
10 Why, Israel, why are you in the country of your enemies, growing older and older in an alien land,	10 ¿Por qué, Israel, por qué estás en país de enemigos, has envejecido en un país extraño,
11 defiling yourselves with the dead, reckoned with those who go to Sheol?	11 te has contaminado con cadáveres, contado entre los que bajan al seol?
12 It is because you have forsaken the fountain of wisdom!	12 ¡Es que abandonaste la fuente de la sabiduría!
13 Had you walked in the way of God, you would be living in peace for ever.	13 Si hubieras andado por el camino de Dios, habrías vivido en paz eternamente.
14 Learn where knowledge is, where strength, where understanding, and so learn where length of days is,where life, where the light of the eyes and where peace.	14 Aprende dónde está la prudencia, dónde la fuerza, dónde la inteligencia, para saber al mismo tiempo dónde está la longevidad y la vida, dónde la luz de los ojos y la paz.
15 But who has found out where she lives, who has entered her treasure house?	15 Pero ¿quién ha encontrado su mansión, quién ha entrado en sus tesoros?
16 Where now are the leaders of the nations and those who ruled even the beasts of earth,	16 ¿Dónde están los príncipes de las naciones, y los que dominan las bestias de la tierra,
17 those who sported with the birds of heaven, those who accumulated silver and gold on which alpeople rely, and whose possessions had no end,	17 los que juegan con las aves del cielo, los que atesoran la plata y el oro en que confían los hombres, y cuyo afán de adquirir no tiene fin;
18 those who worked so carefully in silver -but of whose works no trace is to be found?	18 los que labran la plata con cuidado, mas no dejan rastro de sus obras?
19 They have vanished, gone down to Sheol. Others have risen to their places,	19 Desaparecieron, bajaron al seol, y otros surgieron en su lugar.
20 more recent generations have seen the day and peopled the earth in their turn, but the way ofknowledge they have not found;	20 Otros más jóvenes que ellos vieron la luz, y vivieron en la tierra; pero el camino de la ciencia no lo conocieron,
21 they have not recognised the paths she treads. Nor have their children had any grasp of her, remainingfar from her way.	21 ni comprendieron sus senderos. Sus hijos tampoco se preocuparon de ella, quedaron lejos de su camino.
22 Nothing has been heard of her in Canaan, nothing has been seen of her in Teman;	22 No se oyó hablar de ella en Canaán, ni fue vista en Temán.
23 the children of Hagar in search of worldly wisdom, the merchants of Midian and Teman, the tale-spinners and the philosophers have none of them found the way to wisdom or remembered the paths shetreads.	23 Los hijos de Agar, que andan buscando la inteligencia en la tierra, los mercaderes de Madián y de Temán, los autores de fábulas y los buscadores de inteligencia, no conocieron el camino de la sabiduría ni tuvieron memoria de sus senderos.
24 How great, Israel, is the house of God, how wide his domain,	24 ¡Oh Israel, qué grande es la casa de Dios, qué vasto el lugar de su dominio!
25 immeasurably wide, infinitely lofty!	25 Grande es y sin límites, excelso y sin medida.
26 In it were born the giants, famous from the beginning, immensely tal , expert in war;	26 Allí nacieron los famosos gigantes antiguos, de alta estatura y expertos en la guerra.
27 God's choice did not fall on these, he did not show them the way of knowledge;	27 Pero no fue a éstos a quienes eligió Dios ni les enseñó el camino de la ciencia;
28 they perished for lack of wisdom, perished by their own folly.	28 y perecieron por no tener prudencia, por su locura perecieron.
29 Who has ever climbed the sky and seized her to bring her down from the clouds?	29 ¿Quién subió al cielo y la tomó? ¿quién la hizo bajar desde las nubes?
30 Who has ever crossed the ocean and found her to bring her back in exchange for the finest gold?	30 ¿Quién atravesó el mar y la encontró? ¿quién la traerá a precio de oro puro?
31 No one can learn the way to her, no one can understand the path she treads.	31 No hay quien conozca su camino, nadie imagina sus senderos.
32 But the One who knows al discovers her, he has grasped her with his own intel ect, he has set theearth firm for evermore and filled it with four-footed beasts,	32 Pero el que todo lo sabe la conoce, con su inteligencia la escrutó, el que dispuso la tierra para siempre y la llenó de animales cuadrúpedos,
33 he sends the light -- and it goes, he recal s it -- and trembling it obeys;	33 el que envía la luz, y ella va, el que llama, y temblorosa le obedece;
34 the stars shine joyful y at their posts;	34 brillan los astros en su puesto de guardia llenos de alegría,
35 when he cal s them, they answer, 'Here we are'; they shine to delight their Creator.	35 los llama él y dicen: ¡Aquí estamos!, y brillan alegres para su Hacedor.
36 It is he who is our God, no other can compare with him.	36 Este es nuestro Dios, ningún otro es comparable a él.
37 He has uncovered the whole way of knowledge and shown it to his servant Jacob, to Israel his wel -beloved;	37 El descubrió el camino entero de la ciencia, y se lo enseñó a su siervo Jacob, y a Israel su amado.
38 only then did she appear on earth and live among human beings.	38 Después apareció ella en la tierra, y entre los hombres convivió.
