1 Arise, shine out, for your light has come, and the glory of Yahweh has risen on you. | 1 Surge, illuminare, quia venit lumen tuum, et gloria Domini super te orta est. |
2 Look! though night stil covers the earth and darkness the peoples, on you Yahweh is rising and overyou his glory can be seen. | 2 Quia ecce tenebrae operient terram et caligo populos; super te autem orietur Dominus, et gloria eius in te videbitur. |
3 The nations wil come to your light and kings to your dawning brightness. | 3 Et ambulabunt gentes in lumine tuo, et reges in splendore ortus tui. |
4 Lift up your eyes and look around: al are assembling and coming towards you, your sons coming fromfar away and your daughters being carried on the hip. | 4 Leva in circuitu oculos tuos et vide: omnes isti congregati sunt, venerunt tibi; filii tui de longe veniunt, et filiae tuae in ulnis gestantur. |
5 At this sight you wil grow radiant, your heart will throb and dilate, since the riches of the sea wil flow toyou, the wealth of the nations come to you; | 5 Tunc videbis et illuminaberis, et palpitabit et dilatabitur cor tuum, quia confluet ad te multitudo maris, fortitudo gentium veniet tibi; |
6 camels in throngs wil fill your streets, the young camels of Midian and Ephah; everyone in Saba willcome, bringing gold and incense and proclaiming Yahweh's praises. | 6 inundatio camelorum operiet te, dromedarii Madian et Epha; omnes de Saba venient, aurum et tus deferentes et laudem Domini annuntiantes. |
7 Al the flocks of Kedar will gather inside you, the rams of Nebaioth wil be at your service as acceptablevictims on my altar, and I shal glorify my glorious house. | 7 Omne pecus Cedar congregabitur tibi, arietes Nabaioth ministrabunt tibi; offerentur super placabili altari meo, et domum gloriae meae glorificabo. |
8 Who are these flying like a cloud, like doves to their dovecote? | 8 Quae sunt istae, quae ut nubes volant, et quasi columbae ad fenestras suas? |
9 Why, the coasts and islands put their hope in me and the vessels of Tarshish take the lead in bringing your children from far away, and their silver and gold with them, for the sake of the name of Yahweh your God,of the Holy One of Israel who has made you glorious. | 9 Me enim insulae exspectabunt, et in principio naves Tharsis, ut adducant filios tuos de longe, argentum eorum et aurum eorum cum eis, nomini Domini Dei tui et Sancto Israel, quia glorificavit te. |
10 Foreigners wil rebuild your walls and their kings wil serve you. For though I struck you in anger, inmercy I have pitied you. | 10 Et aedificabunt filii peregrinorum muros tuos, et reges eorum ministrabunt tibi; in indignatione enim mea percussi te, sed in beneplacito meo misertus sum tui. |
11 Your gates wil always be open, never closed, either day or night, for the riches of the nations to bebrought you and their kings to be let in. | 11 Et aperientur portae tuae iugiter, die ac nocte non claudentur, ut afferatur ad te fortitudo gentium, et reges earum adducantur. |
12 For the nation and kingdom that wil not serve you wil perish, and the nations wil be utterly destroyed. | 12 Gens enim et regnum, quae non servierint tibi, peribunt, et gentes vastitate vastabuntur. |
13 The glory of the Lebanon wil come to you, cypress, plane-tree, box-tree, one and all, to adorn the siteof my sanctuary, for me to honour the place where I stand. | 13 Gloria Libani ad te veniet, cupressus, ulmus et abies simul, ad ornandum locum sanctuarii mei; et locum pedum meorum glorificabo. |
14 Your oppressors' children wil humbly approach you, at your feet al who despised you will faladdressing you as 'City of Yahweh', 'Zion of the Holy One of Israel'. | 14 Et venient ad te curvi filii eorum, qui humiliaverunt te, et adorabunt vestigia pedum tuorum omnes, qui detrahebant tibi, et vocabunt teCivitatem Domini, Sion Sancti Israel. |
15 Instead of your being forsaken and hated, avoided by everyone, I will make you an object of eternalpride, a source of joy from age to age. | 15 Pro eo quod fuisti derelicta et odio habita, et non erat qui per te transiret, ponam te in superbiam saeculorum, gaudium in generationem et generationem; |
16 You wil suck the milk of nations, you wil suck the wealth of kings, and you wil know that I, Yahweh,am your Saviour, that your redeemer is the Mighty One of Jacob. | 16 et suges lac gentium et mamilla regum lactaberis et scies quia ego Dominus salvator tuus, et redemptor tuus Fortis Iacob. |
17 For bronze I shal bring gold and for iron I shal bring silver, and for wood, bronze, and for stone, iron; Ishall make Peace your administration and Saving Justice your government. | 17 Pro aere afferam aurum et pro ferro afferam argentum et pro lignis aes et pro lapidibus ferrum; et ponam custodes tuos pacem et praepositos tuos iustitiam. |
18 Violence wil no longer be heard of in your country, nor devastation and ruin within your frontiers. Youwil cal your wal s 'Salvation' and your gates 'Praise'. | 18 Non audietur ultra violentia in terra tua, vastitas et contritio in terminis tuis; et vocabis Salutem muros tuos et portas tuas Laudem. |
19 No more wil the sun give you daylight, nor moonlight shine on you, but Yahweh wil be youreverlasting light, your God wil be your splendour. | 19 Non erit tibi amplius sol ad lucendum per diem, nec splendor lunae illuminabit te, sed erit tibi Dominus in lucem sempiternam, et Deus tuus in gloriam tuam. |
20 Your sun will set no more nor wil your moon wane, for Yahweh wil be your everlasting light and yourdays of mourning will be over. | 20 Non occidet ultra sol tuus, et luna tua non minuetur, quia erit tibi Dominus in lucem sempiternam, et complebuntur dies luctus tui. |
21 Your people, al of them upright, wil possess the country for ever, the shoot I myself have planted, myhandiwork, for my own glory. | 21 Populus autem tuus omnes iusti; in perpetuum hereditabunt terram, germen plantationis meae, opus manus meae ad glorificandum. |
22 The smal est wil grow into a thousand, the weakest one into a mighty nation. When the time is ripe, I,Yahweh, shal quickly bring it about. | 22 Minimus erit in mille, et parvulus in gentem fortem. Ego Dominus in tempore eius subito faciam istud. |
