1 Proclamation about Moab: Laid waste in a night, Ar-Moab lies silent; Laid waste in a night, Kir-Moablies silent.	1 Oraculum Moab. Quia nocte vastata est Ar moab, conticuit; quia nocte vastata est Cirmoab, conticuit.
2 The daughter of Dibon has climbed to the high places to weep; on Nebo and in Medeba Moab laments.Every head shaven, every beard cut off,	2 Ascendit filia Dibon ad excelsa in planctum; super Nabo et super Medaba Moab ululavit; in cunctis capitibus eius calvitium, omnis barba rasa.
3 they wear sackcloth in their streets; on their roofs and in their squares, everyone is lamenting andcol apsing in tears.	3 In triviis eius accincti sunt sacco; super tecta eius et in plateis eius omnes ululant, prorumpunt in fletum.
4 Heshbon and Elealeh are crying out in distress, their voices can be heard as far as Jahaz. That is whythe warriors of Moab are shivering, his soul trembles at the sound.	4 Clamat Hesebon et Eleale, usque Iasa auditur vox eorum; super hoc expediti Moab fremunt, anima eius fremit sibi.
5 His heart cries out in distress for Moab, whose fugitives are already at Zoar, nearly at Eglath-Shelishiyah. They climb the slope of Luhith, weeping as they go; on the road to Horonaim they utter heart-rending cries.	5 Cor meum super Moab clamat, vectes eius usque ad Segor, Eglatselisiam; per ascensum enim Luith flentes ascendunt et in via Oronaim clamorem contritionis levant.
6 The Waters of Nimrim have become a waste land, the grass dried up, the plants withered away,nothing green any more.	6 Aquae enim Nemrim desertae erunt, quia aruit herba, defecit germen, viror omnis interiit.
7 That is why they are carrying what they could save of their stores across the Ravine of the Wil ows.	7 Ideo supellectiles colligunt, copias divitiarum suas trans torrentem Salicum ducunt.
8 For the cry for help re-echoes round the territory of Moab; their wailing, right to Eglaim, to Beer-Elim,their wailing;	8 Quoniam circuivit clamor terminum Moab; usque ad Eglaim ululatus eius, et usque ad Beerelim clamor eius.
9 Dimon's waters are swol en with blood, and I have worse in store for Dimon: a lion for those of Moabwho survive, for those left on its soil.	9 Quia aquae Dimon repletae sunt sanguine; ponam enim super Dimon additamenta his, qui fugerint de Moab leonem, et reliquiis terrae.
