Sirach 27

NEW JERUSALEM	BIBBIA TINTORI
1 Many have sinned for the sake of profit, one who hopes to be rich must turn a blind eye.	1 Molti peccarono per la miseria e chi cerca d'arricchire non guarda altro.
2 A peg wil stick in the joint between two stones, and sin wil wedge itself between sel ing and buying.	2 Come il palo si ficca tra due pietre unite, così il peccato si ficca tra la compra e la vendita.
3 Whoever does not firmly hold to the fear of the Lord, his house wil soon be overthrown.	3 Ma il peccato e il peccatore saran distrutti.
4 In a shaken sieve the rubbish is left behind, so too the defects of a person appear in speech.	4 Se non ti tieni con tinuamente saldo nel timor del Signore, andrà presto in rovina la tua casa.
5 The kiln tests the work of the potter, the test of a person is in conversation.	5 Come agitando il vaglio vi restano i rifiuti, così l'ansietà dell'uomo nel suo pensiero.
6 The orchard where the tree grows is judged by its fruit, similarly words betray what a person feels.	6 La fornace prova i vasi di terra, la tentazione della tribolazione prova i giusti.
7 Do not praise anyone who has not yet spoken, since this is where people are tested.	7 Come la cultura dell'albero ne mostra il frutto, così la parola, che procede dal pensiero del cuore dell'uomo.
8 If you pursue virtue, you will attain it and put it on like a festal gown.	8 Non lodare l'uomo avanti che egli abbia parlato: questa infatti è la prova degli uomini.
9 Birds consort with their kind, truth comes home to those who practise it.	9 Se segui la giustizia, la raggiungerai, e te ne rivestirai come di gloriosa veste talare, abiterai con lei, che ti proteggerà in eterno, e nel giorno del giudizio troverai un sostegno.
10 The lion lies in wait for its prey, so does sin for those who do wrong.	10 I volatili si uniscono ai loro simili, e la verità torna a quelli che la praticano.
11 The conversation of the devout is wisdom at all times, but the fool is as changeable as the moon.	11 Il leone tende sempre insidie alla preda, così il peccato tende insidie a chi fa il male.
12 When visiting stupid people, choose the right moment, but among the thoughtful take your time.	12 L'uomo santo è stabile nella sapienza come il sole, invece lo stolto cambia come la luna.
13 The conversation of fools is disgusting, raucous their laughter in their sinful pleasures.	13 In mezzo agli stolti serba ad altro tempo le parole, stai di continuo in mezzo ai pensatori.
14 The talk of hard-swearing people makes your hair stand on end, their brawling makes you stop yourears.	14 Il parlare degli sciocchi fa schifo, perchè ridono nella gioia del peccato.
15 A quarrel between the proud leads to bloodshed, and their insults are embarrassing to hear.	15 Il linguaggio pieno di giuramenti fa rizzare i capelli, la sua irriverenza fa turare le orecchie.
16 A betrayer of secrets forfeits al trust and wil never find the kind of friend he wants.	16 Nella rissa dei superbi c'è spargimento di sangue, e le loro maledizioni fan pena a sentirle.
17 Be fond of a friend and keep faith with him, but if you have betrayed his secrets, do not go after himany more;	17 Chi svela i segreti dell'amico ne perde la confidenza, e non troverà un amico secondo il suo cuore.
18 for, as one destroys a person by kil ing him, so you have kil ed your neighbour's friendship,	18 Ama l'amico, e stai a lui unito nella fedeltà;
19 and as you let a bird slip through your fingers, so you have let your friend go, and wil not catch him.	19 ma se tu ne avrai svelati i segreti, non gli correr dietro.
20 Do not go after him -- he is far away, he has fled like a gazel e from the snare.	20 Come l'uomo che ha rovinato l'amico, così chi perde l'amicizia del suo prossimo.
21 For a wound can be bandaged and abuse forgiven, but for the betrayer of a secret there is no hope.	21 E come chi si lascia scappare di mano un uccello, così, se hai lasciato andare il tuo amico, non lo ripiglierai.
22 Someone with a sly wink is plotting mischief, no one can dissuade him from it.	22 Non gli tener dietro, perchè è lontano, è già fuggito come gazzella al laccio, perchè ha ferita l'anima.
23 Honey-tongued to your face, he is lost in admiration at your words; but behind your back he has otherthings to say, and turns your words into a stumbling-block.	23 Non potrai più riunirlo (a te). Anche dopo le ingiurie c'è la riconciliazione,
24 I have found many things to hate, but nothing as much as him, and the Lord hates him too.	24 ma lo scoprire i segreti dell'amico è la disperazione dell'anima disgraziata.
25 Whoever throws a stone in the air, throws it on to his own head; a treacherous blow cuts both ways.	25 Chi ammicca cogli occhi ordisce cose inique, e nessuno lo allontanerà.
26 The man who digs a pit falls into it, whoever sets a snare wil be caught by it.	26 In faccia a te avrà bocca di miele, e ammirerà i tuoi discorsi; ma alla fine cambierà linguaggio, e nelle tue parole ti metterà la pietra d'inciampo.
27 On anyone who does evil, evil wil recoil, without his knowing where it comes from.	27 Molte cose ho in odio, ma non come lui, ed anche il Signore l'odierà.
28 Sarcasm and abuse are the mark of the arrogant, but vengeance lies in wait like a lion for such a one.	28 Se uno setta una pietra per aria, gli cadrà sulla testa; il colpo a tradimento aprirà piaghe nel traditore;
29 The trap will close on all who rejoice in the downfal of the devout, and pain wil eat them up beforethey die.	29 chi scava la fossa vi cadrà dentro; chi mette una pietra davanti al suo prossimo v'inciamperà; chi tende il laccio a un altro vi perirà;
30 Resentment and anger, these are foul things too, and a sinner is a master at them both.	30 chi ordisce perverso disegno se lo vedrà ricadere addosso, e non saprà da che parte venga.
	31 Gli scherni e gl'improperi son dei superbi, e la vendetta tenderà loro insidie come leone.
	32 Periranno nel laccio quelli che si rallegraron della caduta dei giusti; ma il dolore li consumerà prima che muoiano.
	33 L'ira e il furore son tutt'e due esecrabili, e il peccatore li avrà dentro.
