NEW JERUSALEMGREEK BIBLE
Whoever fears the Lord wil act like this, and whoever grasps the Law wil obtain wisdom.1 ο φοβουμενος κυριον ποιησει αυτο και ο εγκρατης του νομου καταλημψεται αυτην
She will come to meet him like a mother, and receive him like a virgin bride.2 και υπαντησεται αυτω ως μητηρ και ως γυνη παρθενιας προσδεξεται αυτον
She will give him the bread of understanding to eat, and the water of wisdom to drink.3 ψωμιει αυτον αρτον συνεσεως και υδωρ σοφιας ποτισει αυτον
He will lean on her and wil not fal , he wil rely on her and not be put to shame.4 στηριχθησεται επ' αυτην και ου μη κλιθη και επ' αυτης εφεξει και ου μη καταισχυνθη
She will raise him high above his neighbours, and in ful assembly she wil open his mouth.5 και υψωσει αυτον παρα τους πλησιον αυτου και εν μεσω εκκλησιας ανοιξει το στομα αυτου
He will find happiness and a crown of joy, he wil inherit an everlasting name.6 ευφροσυνην και στεφανον αγαλλιαματος ευρησει και ονομα αιωνος κατακληρονομησει
Fools wil not gain possession of her, nor will sinners set eyes on her.7 ου μη καταλημψονται αυτην ανθρωποι ασυνετοι και ανδρες αμαρτωλοι ου μη ιδωσιν αυτην
She stands remote from pride, and liars cannot cal her to mind.8 μακραν εστιν υπερηφανιας και ανδρες ψευσται ου μη μνησθησονται αυτης
Praise is unseemly in a sinner's mouth, since it has not been put there by the Lord.9 ουχ ωραιος αινος εν στοματι αμαρτωλου οτι ου παρα κυριου απεσταλη
For praise should be uttered only in wisdom, and the Lord himself then prompts it.10 εν γαρ σοφια ρηθησεται αινος και ο κυριος ευοδωσει αυτον
Do not say, 'The Lord was responsible for my sinning,' for he does not do what he hates.11 μη ειπης οτι δια κυριον απεστην α γαρ εμισησεν ου ποιησει
Do not say, 'It was he who led me astray,' for he has no use for a sinner.12 μη ειπης οτι αυτος με επλανησεν ου γαρ χρειαν εχει ανδρος αμαρτωλου
The Lord hates al that is foul, and no one who fears him will love it either.13 παν βδελυγμα εμισησεν ο κυριος και ουκ εστιν αγαπητον τοις φοβουμενοις αυτον
He himself made human beings in the beginning, and then left them free to make their own decisions.14 αυτος εξ αρχης εποιησεν ανθρωπον και αφηκεν αυτον εν χειρι διαβουλιου αυτου
If you choose, you will keep the commandments and so be faithful to his wil .15 εαν θελης συντηρησεις εντολας και πιστιν ποιησαι ευδοκιας
He has set fire and water before you; put out your hand to whichever you prefer.16 παρεθηκεν σοι πυρ και υδωρ ου εαν θελης εκτενεις την χειρα σου
A human being has life and death before him; whichever he prefers wil be given him.17 εναντι ανθρωπων η ζωη και ο θανατος και ο εαν ευδοκηση δοθησεται αυτω
For vast is the wisdom of the Lord; he is almighty and al -seeing.18 οτι πολλη η σοφια του κυριου ισχυρος εν δυναστεια και βλεπων τα παντα
His eyes are on those who fear him, he notes every human action.19 και οι οφθαλμοι αυτου επι τους φοβουμενους αυτον και αυτος επιγνωσεται παν εργον ανθρωπου
He never commanded anyone to be godless, he has given no one permission to sin.20 ουκ ενετειλατο ουδενι ασεβειν και ουκ εδωκεν ανεσιν ουδενι αμαρτανειν
