1 CHORUS: Where did your lover go, O loveliest of women? Which way did your lover turn so that we canhelp you seek him?	1 אָנָה הָלַךְ דֹּודֵךְ הַיָּפָה בַּנָּשִׁים אָנָה פָּנָה דֹודֵךְ וּנְבַקְשֶׁנּוּ עִמָּךְ
2 BELOVED: My love went down to his garden, to the beds of spices, to pasture his flock on the grass andgather lilies.	2 דֹּודִי יָרַד לְגַנֹּו לַעֲרוּגֹות הַבֹּשֶׂם לִרְעֹות בַּגַּנִּים וְלִלְקֹט שֹׁושַׁנִּים
3 I belong to my love, and my love to me. He pastures his flock among the lilies.	3 אֲנִי לְדֹודִי וְדֹודִי לִי הָרֹעֶה בַּשֹּׁושַׁנִּים׃ ס
4 LOVER: You are fair as Tirzah, my beloved, enchanting as Jerusalem, formidable as an army!	4 יָפָה אַתְּ רַעְיָתִי כְּתִרְצָה נָאוָה כִּירוּשָׁלִָם אֲיֻמָּה כַּנִּדְגָּלֹות
5 Turn your eyes away from me, they take me by assault! Your hair is like a flock of goats surging downthe slopes of Gilead.	5 הָסֵבִּי עֵינַיִךְ מִנֶּגְדִּי שֶׁהֵם הִרְהִיבֻנִי שַׂעְרֵךְ כְּעֵדֶר הָעִזִּים שֶׁגָּלְשׁוּ מִן־הַגִּלְעָד
6 Your teeth are like a flock of ewes as they come up from being washed. Each one has its twin, not oneunpaired with another.	6 שִׁנַּיִךְ כְּעֵדֶר הָרְחֵלִים שֶׁעָלוּ מִן־הָרַחְצָה שֶׁכֻּלָּם מַתְאִימֹות וְשַׁכֻּלָה אֵין בָּהֶם
7 Your cheeks, behind your veil, are halves of pomegranate.	7 כְּפֶלַח הָרִמֹּון רַקָּתֵךְ מִבַּעַד לְצַמָּתֵךְ
8 There are sixty queens and eighty concubines (and countless girls).	8 שִׁשִּׁים הֵמָּה מְּלָכֹות וּשְׁמֹנִים פִּילַגְשִׁים וַעֲלָמֹות אֵין מִסְפָּר
9 My dove is my only one, perfect and mine. She is the darling of her mother, the favourite of the one whobore her. Girls have seen her and proclaimed her blessed, queens and concubines have sung her praises,	9 אַחַת הִיא יֹונָתִי תַמָּתִי אַחַת הִיא לְאִמָּהּ בָּרָה הִיא לְיֹולַדְתָּהּ רָאוּהָ בָנֹות וַיְאַשְּׁרוּהָ מְלָכֹות וּפִילַגְשִׁים וַיְהַלְלוּהָ׃ ס
10 'Who is this arising like the dawn, fair as the moon, resplendent as the sun, formidable as an army?'	10 מִי־זֹאת הַנִּשְׁקָפָה כְּמֹו־שָׁחַר יָפָה כַלְּבָנָה בָּרָה כַּחַמָּה אֲיֻמָּה כַּנִּדְגָּלֹות׃ ס
11 I went down to the nut orchard to see the fresh shoots in the val ey, to see if the vines were buddingand the pomegranate trees in flower.	11 אֶל־גִּנַּת אֱגֹוז יָרַדְתִּי לִרְאֹות בְּאִבֵּי הַנָּחַל לִרְאֹות הֲפָרְחָה הַגֶּפֶן הֵנֵצוּ הָרִמֹּנִים
12 Before I knew . . . my desire had hurled me onto the chariots of Amminadib!	12 לֹא יָדַעְתִּי נַפְשִׁי שָׂמַתְנִי מַרְכְּבֹות עַמִּי־נָדִיב
	13 וִידַעְתֶּם כִּי־אֲנִי יְהוָה בִּהְיֹות חַלְלֵיהֶם בְּתֹוךְ גִּלּוּלֵיהֶם סְבִיבֹות מִזְבְּחֹותֵיהֶם אֶל כָּל־גִּבְעָה רָמָה בְּכֹל ׀ רָאשֵׁי הֶהָרִים וְתַחַת כָּל־עֵץ רַעֲנָן וְתַחַת כָּל־אֵלָה עֲבֻתָּה מְקֹום אֲשֶׁר נָתְנוּ־שָׁם רֵיחַ נִיחֹחַ לְכֹל גִּלּוּלֵיהֶם
	14 וְנָטִיתִי אֶת־יָדִי עֲלֵיהֶם וְנָתַתִּי אֶת־הָאָרֶץ שְׁמָמָה וּמְשַׁמָּה מִמִּדְבַּר דִּבְלָתָה בְּכֹל מֹושְׁבֹותֵיהֶם וְיָדְעוּ כִּי־אֲנִי יְהוָה׃ פ
