Proverbs 6

NEW JERUSALEM	BIBBIA TINTORI
1 My child, if you have gone surety for your neighbour, if you have guaranteed the bond of a stranger,	1 Figlio mio, se ti sei reso garante per un tuo amico ed hai data la tua mano ad un altro,
2 if you have committed yourself with your lips, if through words of yours you have been entrapped,	2 ti sei legato colle parole della tua bocca, ti sei impigliato nei tuoi discorsi.
3 do this, my child, to extricate yourself -- since you have put yourself in the power of your neighbour: go,humble yourself, plead with your neighbour,	3 Fa dunque, figlio mio, quello che ti dico per disimpegnarti, perchè sei caduto nelle mani del tuo prossimo: corri senza indugio a svegliare il tuo amico,
4 give your eyes no sleep, your eyelids no rest,	4 non dar sonno ai tuoi occhi nò riposo alle tue pupille,
5 break free like a gazel e from the trap, like a bird from the fowler's clutches.	5 Scappa come gazzella dalla mano, come uccello dalla mano dell'uccellatore. La formica è mi rimprovero pel pigro.
6 Idler, go to the ant; ponder her ways and grow wise:	6 Vai, o pigro, dalla formica, mira i suoi modi di fare, e impara ad essere saggio.
7 no one gives her orders, no overseer, no master,	7 Essa, benché non abbia nè capitano nè sorvegliante nè principe,
8 yet al through the summer she gets her food ready, and gathers her supplies at harvest time.	8 prepara nell'estate il suo sostentamento o al tempo della messe raccoglie il suo cibo.
9 How long do you intend to lie there, idler? When are you going to rise from your sleep?	9 Fino a quando, o pigro, dormirai? Quando ti desterai dal tuo sonno?
10 A little sleep, a little drowsiness, a little folding of the arms to lie back,	10 Un po' dormirai, un po' sonnecchierai, un po' starai colle mani in mano per riposarti;
11 and poverty comes like a vagrant and, like a beggar, dearth.	11 ma t'arriverà come un corriere la miseria e la povertà come un uomo armato. Ma se sarai diligente, verrà come una sorgente la tua messe e fuggirà lungi da te la miseria.
12 A scoundrel, a vicious man, he goes with a leer on his lips,	12 L'uomo apostata, uomo da nulla, procede colla perversità sulle labbra,
13 winking his eye, shuffling his foot, beckoning with his finger.	13 ammicca cogli occhi, stropiccia i piedi, parla colle dita.
14 Trickery in his heart, always scheming evil, he sows dissension.	14 Nel suo cuore perverso prepara del male e in ogni tempo semina discordie.
15 Disaster wil overtake him sharply for this, suddenly, irretrievably, he wil be broken.	15 Sopra di lui verrà ad un tratto la rovina, in un attimo sarà annientato senza alcun rimedio.
16 There are six things that Yahweh hates, seven that he abhors:	16 Sei cose odia il Signore, e la settima l'ha in esecrazione:
17 a haughty look, a lying tongue, hands that shed innocent blood,	17 gli occhi superbi, la lingua bugiarda, le mani che spargono sangue innocente,
18 a heart that weaves wicked plots, feet that hurry to do evil,	18 il cuore che medita iniqui disegni, i piedi che corrono frettolosi al male,
19 a false witness who lies with every breath, and one who sows dissension among brothers.	19 il falso testimonio che proferisce menzogne, e colui che semina discordie tra i fratelli.
20 Keep your father's precept, my child, do not spurn your mother's teaching.	20 Figlio mio, osserva i precetti di tuo padre, e non trascurare le regole di tua madre.
21 Bind them ever to your heart, tie them round your neck.	21 Tienli continuamente legati sul tuo cuore e attaccali al tuo collo.
22 While you are active, they will guide you, when you fal asleep, they wil watch over you, when youwake up, they will converse with you.	22 Ti accompagnino nel viaggio, ti custodiscano nel sonno, e quando ti svegli parla con loro.
23 For the precept is a lamp, the teaching is a light; correction and discipline are the way to life,	23 Perchè il precetto è una lampada, la legge è una luce, e la correzione della disciplina è via alla vita.
24 preserving you from the woman of bad character, from the wheedling talk of a woman who belongs toanother.	24 Esse serviranno a guardarti dalla donna malvagia e dall'adulatrice lingua della straniera.
25 Do not covet her beauty in your heart or let her captivate you with the play of her eyes;	25 Non desiderare in cuor tuo la sua bellezza, non ti lasciar prendere dai suoi sguardi;
26 a prostitute can be bought for a hunk of bread, but a married woman aims to snare a precious life.	26 che il prezzo d'una prostituta è appena un pane, ma la maritata fa la caccia ad una vita preziosa.
27 Can a man carry fire inside his shirt without setting his clothes alight?	27 Può forse l'uomo nascondere del fuoco nel suo seno, senza bruciarsi le vesti?
28 Can you walk on red-hot coals without burning your feet?	28 Ovvero camminare sopra carboni accesi, senza scottarsi i piedi?
29 Just so, the man who makes love to his neighbour's wife: no one who touches her wil get offunpunished.	29 Così chi va dalla moglie d'un altro, non sarà senza colpa, se l'avrà toccata.
30 People attach but little blame to a thief who steals only to satisfy his hunger;	30 Non è gran peccato, se uno ruba, ruba infatti per empir l'affamato suo ventre;
31 yet even he, if caught, wil have to repay sevenfold and hand over all his family resources.	31 ma se è scoperto deve rendere fino al settuplo e dare tutti i beni della sua casa.
32 But the adulterer has no sense; he works his own destruction.	32 Or l'adultero, per mancanza di cuore, manderà in rovina se stesso:
33 All he wil get is blows and contempt, and dishonour never to be blotted out.	33 accumula sopra se stesso vergogna e ignominia, e la sua infamia non sarà mai cancellata;
34 For jealousy inflames the husband who wil show no mercy when the day comes for revenge;	34 perchè la gelosia e il furore del marito non perdoneranno nel giorno della vendetta.
35 he wil not consider any compensation; lavish what gifts you may, he wil not be placated.	35 Nè si placherà alle altrui preghiere, di chiunque siano, e non accetterà in compenso doni, anche numerosissimi.
