Proverbs 6

1 My child, if you have gone surety for your neighbour, if you have guaranteed the bond of a stranger,	1 FIGLIUOL mio, se tu hai fatta sicurtà al tuo prossimo, Se tu hai toccata la mano allo strano,
2 if you have committed yourself with your lips, if through words of yours you have been entrapped,	2 Tu sei allacciato con le parole della tua bocca, Tu sei preso con le parole della tua bocca.
3 do this, my child, to extricate yourself -- since you have put yourself in the power of your neighbour: go,humble yourself, plead with your neighbour,	3 Ora fa’ questo, figliuol mio, e riscuotiti; Poichè tu sei caduto in man del tuo prossimo, Va’, gittati a’ piedi de’ tuoi amici, e sollecitali.
4 give your eyes no sleep, your eyelids no rest,	4 Non lasciar dormire gli occhi tuoi, Nè sonnecchiar le tue palpebre.
5 break free like a gazel e from the trap, like a bird from the fowler's clutches.	5 Riscuotiti, come un cavriuolo di mano del cacciatore, E come un uccello di mano dell’uccellatore
6 Idler, go to the ant; ponder her ways and grow wise:	6 Va’, pigro, alla formica; Riguarda le sue vie, e diventa savio;
7 no one gives her orders, no overseer, no master,	7 Conciossiachè ella non abbia nè capitano, Nè magistrato, nè signore;
8 yet al through the summer she gets her food ready, and gathers her supplies at harvest time.	8 E pure ella apparecchia nella state il suo cibo, E raduna nella ricolta il suo mangiare.
9 How long do you intend to lie there, idler? When are you going to rise from your sleep?	9 Infino a quando, o pigro, giacerai? Quando ti desterai dal tuo sonno?
10 A little sleep, a little drowsiness, a little folding of the arms to lie back,	10 Dormendo un poco, sonnecchiando un poco, Piegando un poco le braccia per riposare;
11 and poverty comes like a vagrant and, like a beggar, dearth.	11 La tua povertà verrà come un viandante, E la tua necessità come uno scudiere
12 A scoundrel, a vicious man, he goes with a leer on his lips,	12 L’uomo scellerato, l’uomo da nulla, Procede con perversità di bocca.
13 winking his eye, shuffling his foot, beckoning with his finger.	13 Egli ammicca con gli occhi, parla co’ piedi, Accenna con le dita;

15 Disaster wil overtake him sharply for this, suddenly, irretrievably, he wil be broken.	15 Perciò in un momento verrà la sua ruina; Egli di subito sarà fiaccato, senza rimedio.
16 There are six things that Yahweh hates, seven that he abhors:	16 Il Signore odia queste sei cose; Anzi queste sette son cosa abbominevole all’anima sua;
17 a haughty look, a lying tongue, hands that shed innocent blood,	17 Gli occhi altieri, la lingua bugiarda, E la mani che spandono il sangue innocente,
18 a heart that weaves wicked plots, feet that hurry to do evil,	18 Il cuore che divisa pensieri d’iniquità, I piedi che si affrettano per correre al male,
19 a false witness who lies with every breath, and one who sows dissension among brothers.	19 Il falso testimonio che sbocca menzogne, E colui che commette contese tra fratelli
20 Keep your father's precept, my child, do not spurn your mother's teaching.	20 FIGLIUOL mio, guarda il comandamento di tuo padre, E non lasciar l’insegnamento di tua madre;
21 Bind them ever to your heart, tie them round your neck.	21 Tienli del continuo legati in sul tuo cuore, Ed avvinti in su la tua gola.
22 While you are active, they will guide you, when you fal asleep, they wil watch over you, when youwake up, they will converse with you.	22 Quando tu camminerai, quello ti guiderà; Quando tu giacerai, farà la guardia intorno a te; E quando tu ti risveglierai, ragionerà teco;
23 For the precept is a lamp, the teaching is a light; correction and discipline are the way to life,	23 Perciocchè il comandamento è una lampana, E l’insegnamento è una luce, E le correzioni di disciplina son la via della vita;
24 preserving you from the woman of bad character, from the wheedling talk of a woman who belongs toanother.	24 Per guardarti dalla femmina malvagia, Dalle lusinghe della lingua della straniera.
25 Do not covet her beauty in your heart or let her captivate you with the play of her eyes;	25 Non invaghirti nel tuo cuore della sua bellezza; E non prendati ella con le sue palpebre.
26 a prostitute can be bought for a hunk of bread, but a married woman aims to snare a precious life.	26 Perciocchè per una donna meretrice si viene fino ad un pezzo di pane; E la donna vaga d’uomini va a caccia dietro alle anime preziose.
27 Can a man carry fire inside his shirt without setting his clothes alight?	27 Alcuno prenderà egli del fuoco in seno, Senza che i suoi vestimenti ne sieno arsi?
28 Can you walk on red-hot coals without burning your feet?	28 Alcuno camminerà egli sopra le brace, Senza bruciarsi i piedi?
29 Just so, the man who makes love to his neighbour's wife: no one who touches her wil get offunpunished.	29 Così avviene a chi entra dalla moglie del suo prossimo; Chiunque la tocca non sarà innocente.
30 People attach but little blame to a thief who steals only to satisfy his hunger;	30 Ei non si scusa il ladro, quando egli ruba Per saziarsi, avendo fame;
31 yet even he, if caught, wil have to repay sevenfold and hand over all his family resources.	31 Anzi, se è colto, restituisce il furto a sette doppi, Egli dà tutta la sostanza di casa sua.
32 But the adulterer has no sense; he works his own destruction.	32 Chi commette adulterio con una donna è scemo di senno; Chi vuol perder l’anima sua faccia tal cosa.
33 All he wil get is blows and contempt, and dishonour never to be blotted out.	33 Egli troverà ferite ed ignominia; E il suo vituperio non sarà giammai cancellato.
34 For jealousy inflames the husband who wil show no mercy when the day comes for revenge;	34 Perciocchè la gelosia è un furor dell’uomo; Ed egli non risparmierà nel giorno della vendetta.
35 he wil not consider any compensation; lavish what gifts you may, he wil not be placated.	35 Egli non avrà riguardo ad alcun riscatto; Ed avvegnachè tu moltiplichi i presenti, non però li accetterà
