Proverbs 1

NEW JERUSALEM	BIBBIA RICCIOTTI
1 The proverbs of Solomon son of David, king of Israel:	1 - Proverbi di Salomone figlio di David, re d'Israele;
2 for learning what wisdom and discipline are, for understanding words of deep meaning,	2 per conoscere sapienza e disciplina, per capire i dettami della prudenza,
3 for acquiring a disciplined insight, uprightness, justice and fair dealing;	3 per apprendere amma estramento di dottrina, giustizia e giudizio e rettitudine;
4 for teaching sound judgement to the simple, and knowledge and reflection to the young;	4 per conferire ai fanciulli avvedutezza e al giovane sapere e intelligenza.
5 Let the wise listen and learn yet more, and a person of discernment wil acquire the art of guidance.	5 Il saggio che gli ascolta diventerà più saggio e l'intenditore possederà di che governarsi.
6 for perceiving the meaning of proverbs and obscure sayings, the sayings of the sages and their riddles.	6 Comprenderà il proverbio e l'interpretazione, le parole dei saggi e i loro enimmi.
7 The fear of Yahweh is the beginning of knowledge; fools spurn wisdom and discipline.	7 Il timore di Dio è il principio della sapienza; gli stolti disprezzano la sapienza e la dottrina.
8 Listen, my child, to your father's instruction, do not reject your mother's teaching:	8 Ascolta, figliuolo, l'istruzione di tuo padre e non trascurare l'insegnamento di tua madre,
9 they wil be a crown of grace for your head, a circlet for your neck.	9 se vuoi aggiungere grazia al tuo capo e ornamento al tuo collo.
10 My child, if sinners try to seduce you, do not go with them.	10 Figliuolo, se i peccatori ti adescanonon dar retta a loro.
11 If they say, 'Come with us: let us lie in ambush to shed blood; if we plan an ambush for the innocentwithout provocation,	11 Se dicono: «Vieni con noi, insidiamo al sangue altrui, appostiamo insidie all'innocente che a nulla giova;
12 we can swal ow them alive, like Sheol, and whole, like those who sink into oblivion.	12 sparisca, come inghiottito vivo nelle viscere della terra, tutto intero, come uno calato nella tomba;
13 We shal find treasures of every sort, we shall fil our houses with plunder;	13 troveremo d'ogni sorta robe preziose, empiremo le nostre case di bottino;
14 throw in your lot with us: one purse between us al .'	14 sorteggerai con noi anche tu la tua parte, faremo tutti borsa comune».
15 My child, do not fol ow them in their way, keep your steps out of their path	15 Figliuolo, non metterti con essi su questa via, vieta al tuo piede le loro strade,
16 for their feet hasten to evil, they are quick to shed blood;	16 perchè corrono a gran passi verso il male e non tarderanno a spargere il sangue.
17 for the net is spread in vain if any winged creature can see it.	17 La rete si stende, ma indarno, sotto gli occhi dei pennuti uccelli!
18 It is for their own blood such people lie in wait, their ambush is against their own selves!	18 Ed essi pure tendono insidie, ma contro il proprio sangue, preparano frodi, ma a danno delle loro anime.
19 Such are the paths of al who seek dishonest gain: which robs of their lives al who take it for their own.	19 Tali sono le vie degli uomini dati alla rapina, spogliano se stessi della propria vita.
20 Wisdom cal s aloud in the streets, she raises her voice in the public squares;	20 La Sapienza predica fuori, nelle piazze alza la sua voce;
21 she cal s out at the street corners, she delivers her message at the city gates.	21 davanti alle turbe declama, alle soglie delle porte della città pronunzia le sue parole e dice:
22 'You simple people, how much longer will you cling to your simple ways? How much longer willmockers revel in their mocking and fools go on hating knowledge?	22 «E fino a quando, fanciulli, amerete la fanciullaggine e gli stolti brameranno cose a loro perniciose e gl'insensati odieranno la scienza?
23 Pay attention to my warning. To you I wil pour out my heart and tel you what I have to say.	23 Volgetevi a udire la mia esortazione: ecco ch'io effonderò in voi il mio spirito, vi farò manifeste le mie parole.
24 Since I have cal ed and you have refused me, since I have beckoned and no one has taken notice,	24 Perchè invitai e vi siete rifiutati, stesi la mano e nessuno prestò attenzione;
25 since you have ignored al my advice and rejected al my warnings,	25 sdegnaste ogni mio consiglio e le mie ammonizioni avete trascurato;
26 I, for my part, shall laugh at your distress, I shal jeer when terror befal s you,	26 anch'io riderò della vostra rovina, me ne farò beffe, quando vi sorprenda ciò che temevate.
27 when terror befal s you, like a storm, when your distress arrives, like a whirlwind, when ordeal andanguish bear down on you.	27 Quando la sventura improvvisa vi sorprenderà, e la rovina, come una tempesta v'incoglierà, al sopraggiungere della tribolazione e dell'angustia;
28 Then they will cal me, but I shal not answer, they wil look eagerly for me and will not find me.	28 allora m'invocheranno, ma io non darò ascolto, si desteranno premurosi per cercarmi, ma non mi troveranno;
29 They have hated knowledge, they have not chosen the fear of Yahweh,	29 perchè ebbero in odio la disciplina, e non abbracciarono il timor di Dio,
30 they have taken no notice of my advice, they have spurned al my warnings:	30 e al mio consiglio non hanno dato rettasprezzarono ogni mia correzione.
31 so they wil have to eat the fruits of their own ways of life, and choke themselves with their ownscheming.	31 Ebbene gusteranno il frutto della loro condotta, si pasceranno dei lor propri consigli.
32 For the errors of the simple lead to their death, the complacency of fools works their own ruin;	32 L'avversione degl'insensati li farà perire, e la spensieratezza degli stolti li perderà;
33 but whoever listens to me may live secure, will have quiet, fearing no mischance.'	33 ma chi darà ascolto a me, riposerà al sicuro e sarà nell'abbondanza, scevro di timore del male».
