Proverbs 1

NEW JERUSALEM	BIBBIA CEI 2008
1 The proverbs of Solomon son of David, king of Israel:	1 Proverbi di Salomone, figlio di Davide, re d’Israele,
2 for learning what wisdom and discipline are, for understanding words of deep meaning,	2 per conoscere la sapienza e l’istruzione, per capire i detti intelligenti,
3 for acquiring a disciplined insight, uprightness, justice and fair dealing;	3 per acquistare una saggia educazione, equità, giustizia e rettitudine,
4 for teaching sound judgement to the simple, and knowledge and reflection to the young;	4 per rendere accorti gli inesperti e dare ai giovani conoscenza e riflessione.
5 Let the wise listen and learn yet more, and a person of discernment wil acquire the art of guidance.	5 Il saggio ascolti e accrescerà il sapere, e chi è avveduto acquisterà destrezza,
6 for perceiving the meaning of proverbs and obscure sayings, the sayings of the sages and their riddles.	6 per comprendere proverbi e allegorie, le massime dei saggi e i loro enigmi.
7 The fear of Yahweh is the beginning of knowledge; fools spurn wisdom and discipline.	7 Il timore del Signore è principio della scienza; gli stolti disprezzano la sapienza e l’istruzione.
8 Listen, my child, to your father's instruction, do not reject your mother's teaching:	8 Ascolta, figlio mio, l’istruzione di tuo padre e non disprezzare l’insegnamento di tua madre,
9 they wil be a crown of grace for your head, a circlet for your neck.	9 perché saranno corona graziosa sul tuo capo e monili per il tuo collo.
10 My child, if sinners try to seduce you, do not go with them.	10 Figlio mio, se i malvagi ti vogliono sedurre, tu non acconsentire!
11 If they say, 'Come with us: let us lie in ambush to shed blood; if we plan an ambush for the innocentwithout provocation,	11 Se ti dicono: «Vieni con noi, complottiamo per spargere sangue, insidiamo senza motivo l’innocente,
12 we can swal ow them alive, like Sheol, and whole, like those who sink into oblivion.	12 inghiottiamoli vivi come fa il regno dei morti, interi, come coloro che scendono nella fossa;
13 We shal find treasures of every sort, we shall fil our houses with plunder;	13 troveremo ogni specie di beni preziosi, riempiremo di bottino le nostre case,
14 throw in your lot with us: one purse between us al .'	14 tu tirerai a sorte la tua parte insieme con noi, una sola borsa avremo in comune»,
15 My child, do not fol ow them in their way, keep your steps out of their path	15 figlio mio, non andare per la loro strada, tieniti lontano dai loro sentieri!
16 for their feet hasten to evil, they are quick to shed blood;	16 I loro passi infatti corrono verso il male e si affrettano a spargere sangue.
17 for the net is spread in vain if any winged creature can see it.	17 Invano si tende la rete sotto gli occhi di ogni sorta di uccelli.
18 It is for their own blood such people lie in wait, their ambush is against their own selves!	18 Ma costoro complottano contro il proprio sangue, pongono agguati contro se stessi.
19 Such are the paths of al who seek dishonest gain: which robs of their lives al who take it for their own.	19 Tale è la fine di chi è avido di guadagno; la cupidigia toglie di mezzo colui che ne è dominato.
20 Wisdom cal s aloud in the streets, she raises her voice in the public squares;	20 La sapienza grida per le strade, nelle piazze fa udire la voce;
21 she cal s out at the street corners, she delivers her message at the city gates.	21 nei clamori della città essa chiama, pronuncia i suoi detti alle porte della città:
22 'You simple people, how much longer will you cling to your simple ways? How much longer willmockers revel in their mocking and fools go on hating knowledge?	22 «Fino a quando, o inesperti, amerete l’inesperienza e gli spavaldi si compiaceranno delle loro spavalderie e gli stolti avranno in odio la scienza?
23 Pay attention to my warning. To you I wil pour out my heart and tel you what I have to say.	23 Tornate alle mie esortazioni: ecco, io effonderò il mio spirito su di voi e vi manifesterò le mie parole.
24 Since I have cal ed and you have refused me, since I have beckoned and no one has taken notice,	24 Perché vi ho chiamati ma avete rifiutato, ho steso la mano e nessuno se ne è accorto.
25 since you have ignored al my advice and rejected al my warnings,	25 Avete trascurato ogni mio consiglio e i miei rimproveri non li avete accolti;
26 I, for my part, shall laugh at your distress, I shal jeer when terror befal s you,	26 anch’io riderò delle vostre sventure, mi farò beffe quando su di voi verrà la paura,
27 when terror befal s you, like a storm, when your distress arrives, like a whirlwind, when ordeal andanguish bear down on you.	27 quando come una tempesta vi piomberà addosso il terrore, quando la disgrazia vi raggiungerà come un uragano, quando vi colpiranno angoscia e tribolazione.
28 Then they will cal me, but I shal not answer, they wil look eagerly for me and will not find me.	28 Allora mi invocheranno, ma io non risponderò, mi cercheranno, ma non mi troveranno.
29 They have hated knowledge, they have not chosen the fear of Yahweh,	29 Perché hanno odiato la sapienza e non hanno preferito il timore del Signore,
30 they have taken no notice of my advice, they have spurned al my warnings:	30 non hanno accettato il mio consiglio e hanno disprezzato ogni mio rimprovero;
31 so they wil have to eat the fruits of their own ways of life, and choke themselves with their ownscheming.	31 mangeranno perciò il frutto della loro condotta e si sazieranno delle loro trame.
32 For the errors of the simple lead to their death, the complacency of fools works their own ruin;	32 Sì, lo smarrimento degli inesperti li ucciderà e la spensieratezza degli sciocchi li farà perire;
33 but whoever listens to me may live secure, will have quiet, fearing no mischance.'	33 ma chi ascolta me vivrà in pace e sarà sicuro senza temere alcun male».
