NEW JERUSALEM	LA SACRA BIBBIA
1 [Poem For Ethan the native-born] I shal sing the faithful love of Yahweh for ever, from age to age mylips shall declare your constancy,	1 Maskil. Di Etan l'ezraita.
2 for you have said: love is built to last for ever, you have fixed your constancy firm in the heavens.	2 Le tue misericordie, o Signore, voglio cantare senza fine, di generazione in generazione annunzierò la tua fedeltà con la mia bocca.
3 'I have made a covenant with my Chosen One, sworn an oath to my servant David:	3 Poiché tu hai detto: "Per sempre resterà la mia misericordia, come i cieli è in essi la mia fedeltà.
4 I have made your dynasty firm for ever, built your throne stable age after age.'Pause	4 Ho stretto un'alleanza con il mio eletto, ho giurato a Davide, mio servo:
5 The heavens praise your wonders, Yahweh, your constancy in the gathering of your faithful.	5 "Stabilirò per sempre la tua discendenza, ti edificherò un trono per tutte le generazioni".
6 Who in the skies can compare with Yahweh? Who among the sons of god can rival him?	6 Signore, i cieli lodino le tue meraviglie, la tua fedeltà nell'assemblea dei santi.
7 God, awesome in the assembly of holy ones, great and dreaded among al who surround him,	7 Poiché, chi è sulle nubi che possa paragonarsi a te, o Signore? Chi è fra i figli di Dio che sia simile al Signore?
8 Yahweh, God Sabaoth, who is like you? Mighty Yahweh, your constancy is al round you!	8 Dio è tremendo nell'adunanza dei santi, grande e terribile fra quelli che lo circondano.
9 You control the pride of the ocean, when its waves ride high you calm them.	9 Signore, Dio delle schiere, chi è come te? La tua potenza, o Signore, e la tua fedeltà formano la tua corona.
10 You split Rahab in two like a corpse, scattered your enemies with your mighty arm.	10 Tu domini l'orgoglio del mare, tu plachi il tumulto delle acque.
11 Yours are the heavens and yours the earth, the world and al it holds, you founded them;	11 Tu calpestasti Raab come si calpesta un caduto in battaglia. Con la potenza del tuo braccio disperdesti i tuoi nemici.
12 you created the north and the south, Tabor and Hermon hail your name with joy.	12 Tuoi sono i cieli e tua è la terra, tu fondasti il mondo con quello che esso contiene.
13 Yours is a strong arm, mighty your hand, your right hand raised high;	13 Il settentrione e il mezzogiorno fosti tu a crearli; il Tabor e l'Ermon esultano nel tuo nome.
14 Saving Justice and Fair Judgement the foundations of your throne, Faithful Love and Constancymarch before you.	14 Potente è il tuo braccio, forte la tua mano, elevata la tua destra.
15 How blessed the nation that learns to acclaim you! They will live, Yahweh, in the light of yourpresence.	15 Giustizia e diritto formano la base del tuo trono; misericordia e fedeltà vanno innanzi al tuo volto.
16 In your name they rejoice al day long, by your saving justice they are raised up.	16 Beato il popolo che ti sa acclamare, che cammina, o Signore, alla luce del tuo volto.
17 You are the flower of their strength, by your favour our strength is triumphant;	17 Nel tuo nome esulta tutto il giorno, nella tua giustizia egli trova la sua gloria.
18 for to Yahweh belongs our shield, to the Holy One of Israel our king.	18 Sì, sei tu la sua splendida forza e nella tua benevolenza tu elevi la nostra fronte.
19 Once you spoke in a vision, to your faithful you said: 'I have given strength to a warrior, I have raisedup a man chosen from my people.	19 Sì, proprio il Signore è il nostro scudo, e il Santo d'Israele, il nostro re.
20 'I have found David my servant, and anointed him with my holy oil.	20 Una volta tu parlasti ai tuoi fedeli in visione: "Ho posto il diadema su di un prode, un eletto ho innalzato dal popolo.
21 My hand wil always be with him, my arm wil make him strong.	21 Ho trovato Davide, mio servo, l'ho consacrato con il mio sacro olio.
22 'No enemy wil be able to outwit him, no wicked man overcome him;	22 Sì, ferma sarà la mia mano con lui e il mio braccio lo rafforzerà.
23 I shal crush his enemies before him, strike his opponents dead.	23 Non trionferà il nemico su di lui e un figlio d'iniquità non l'opprimerà.
24 'My constancy and faithful love will be with him, in my name his strength wil be triumphant.	24 Annienterò davanti a lui i suoi avversari e colpirò quelli che lo odiano.
25 I shal establish his power over the sea, his dominion over the rivers.	25 La mia fedeltà e la mia misericordia saranno con lui e s'eleverà nel mio nome la sua fronte.
26 'He wil cry to me, "You are my father, my God, the rock of my salvation!"	26 Porrò sul mare la sua mano e sui fiumi la sua destra.
27 So I shal make him my first-born, the highest of earthly kings.	27 Egli m'invocherà: "Mio padre sei tu, mio Dio, rupe della mia salvezza".
28 'I shal maintain my faithful love for him always, my covenant with him wil stay firm.	28 E io lo porrò come primogenito, il più alto fra i re della terra.
29 I have established his dynasty for ever, his throne to be as lasting as the heavens.	29 Gli consegnerò in eterno la mia grazia e sarà ferma la mia alleanza con lui.
30 'Should his descendants desert my law, and not keep to my rulings,	30 E porrò per sempre la sua discendenza e durerà in eterno il suo trono, come i giorni dei cieli.
31 should they violate my statutes, and not observe my commandments,	31 Se i suoi figli abbandoneranno la mia legge e non seguiranno i miei decreti,
32 'then I shal punish their offences with the rod, their guilt with the whip,	32 se violeranno i miei statuti e non osserveranno i miei precetti,
33 but I shal never withdraw from him my faithful love, I shal not belie my constancy.	33 allora punirò con la verga il loro peccato e con i flagelli la loro colpa.
34 'I shal not violate my covenant, I shal not withdraw the word once spoken.	34 Ma la mia misericordia non ritrarrò mai da loro, né smentirò la mia fedeltà.
35 I have sworn by my holiness, once and for al , never will I break faith with David.	35 Non violerò la mia alleanza, né muterò quanto è uscito dalle mie labbra.
36 'His dynasty shal endure for ever, his throne like the sun before me,	36 Una volta per sempre per la mia santità ho giurato; a Davide, di certo, non mentirò:
37 as the moon is established for ever, a faithful witness in the skies.'Pause	37 rimarrà per sempre la sua discendenza e il suo trono come il sole sarà al mio cospetto;
38 Yet you yourself -- you have spurned and rejected, and have vented your wrath on your anointed,	38 come la luna sarà stabile per sempre, rimarrà immutabile finché durerà il cielo".
39 you have repudiated the covenant with your servant, dishonoured his crown in the dust.	39 Ma tu hai respinto e ripudiato... Ti sei sdegnato con il tuo consacrato.
40 You have pierced al his defences, and laid his strongholds in ruins,	40 Hai rinnegato il patto del tuo servo, hai profanato nel fango il suo diadema.
41 everyone passing by plunders him, he has become the butt of his neighbours.	41 Hai abbattuto tutte le sue mura, hai ridotto in rovine le sue fortezze.
42 You have raised high the right hand of his opponents, have made al his enemies happy;	42 Tutti i passanti l'hanno depredato; è diventato uno scherno per i suoi vicini.
43 you have snapped off his sword on a rock, and failed to support him in battle.	43 Hai fatto trionfare la destra dei suoi avversari; hai fatto giubilare tutti i suoi nemici.
44 You have stripped him of his splendid sceptre, and toppled his throne to the ground.	44 Hai fatto ripiegare il taglio della sua spada e nella battaglia non l'hai sostenuto.
45 You have aged him before his time, enveloped him in shame.Pause	45 Hai posto fine al suo splendore e a terra hai rovesciato il suo trono.
46 How long, Yahweh, will you remain hidden? For ever? Is your anger to go on smouldering like a fire?	46 Hai accorciato i giorni della sua giovinezza e lo hai coperto di ignominia.
47 Remember me; how long have I left? For what pointless end did you create al the children of Adam?	47 Fino a quando, o Signore, continuerai a nasconderti? Per sempre brucerà con fuoco la tua ira?
48 Who can live and never see death? Who can save himself from the clutches of Sheol?Pause	48 Ricòrdati, o Signore, quanto io sia effimero. Hai creato forse per nulla tutti i figli dell'uomo?
49 Lord, what of those pledges of your faithful love? You made an oath to David by your constancy.	49 Qual è quel vivente che non sia soggetto alla morte? Che sia capace di sottrarre la sua anima dal potere degli inferi?
50 Do not forget the insults to your servant; I take to heart the taunts of the nations,	50 Dove sono, o Signore, le tue misericordie d'un tempo, che giurasti a Davide nella tua fedeltà?
51 which your enemies have level ed, Yahweh, have level ed at the footsteps of your anointed!	51 Ricorda, o Signore, l'ignominia del tuo servo. Porto nel mio seno tutte le contese dei popoli,
52 Blessed be Yahweh for ever. Amen, Amen.	52 gl'insulti lanciati, o Signore, dai tuoi nemici, lanciati contro i passi del tuo consacrato.
	53 Benedetto il Signore in eterno. Amen! Amen!
