Psalms 89

NEW JERUSALEM	JERUSALEM
1 [Poem For Ethan the native-born] I shal sing the faithful love of Yahweh for ever, from age to age mylips shall declare your constancy,	1 Poème. D'Etân l'indigène.
2 for you have said: love is built to last for ever, you have fixed your constancy firm in the heavens.	2 L'amour de Yahvé à jamais je le chante, d'âge en âge ma parole annonce ta vérité.
3 'I have made a covenant with my Chosen One, sworn an oath to my servant David:	3 Car tu as dit: l'amour est bâti à jamais, les cieux, tu fondes en eux ta vérité.
4 I have made your dynasty firm for ever, built your throne stable age after age.'Pause	4 "J'ai fait une alliance avec mon élu, j'ai juré à David mon serviteur:
5 The heavens praise your wonders, Yahweh, your constancy in the gathering of your faithful.	5 A tout jamais j'ai fondé ta lignée, je te bâtis d'âge en âge un trône."
6 Who in the skies can compare with Yahweh? Who among the sons of god can rival him?	6 Les cieux rendent grâce pour ta merveille, Yahvé, pour ta vérité, dans l'assemblée des saints.
7 God, awesome in the assembly of holy ones, great and dreaded among al who surround him,	7 Qui donc en les nues se compare à Yahvé, s'égale à Yahvé parmi les fils des dieux?
8 Yahweh, God Sabaoth, who is like you? Mighty Yahweh, your constancy is al round you!	8 Dieu redoutable au conseil des saints, grand et terrible à tout son entourage,
9 You control the pride of the ocean, when its waves ride high you calm them.	9 Yahvé, Dieu Sabaot, qui est comme toi? Yahvé puissant, que ta vérité entoure!
10 You split Rahab in two like a corpse, scattered your enemies with your mighty arm.	10 C'est toi qui maîtrises l'orgueil de la mer, quand ses flots se soulèvent, c'est toi qui les apaises;
11 Yours are the heavens and yours the earth, the world and al it holds, you founded them;	11 c'est toi qui fendis Rahab comme un cadavre, dispersas tes adversaires par ton bras de puissance.
12 you created the north and the south, Tabor and Hermon hail your name with joy.	12 A toi le ciel, à toi aussi la terre, le monde et son contenu, c'est toi qui les fondas;
13 Yours is a strong arm, mighty your hand, your right hand raised high;	13 le nord et le midi, c'est toi qui les créas, le Tabor et l'Hermon à ton nom crient de joie.
14 Saving Justice and Fair Judgement the foundations of your throne, Faithful Love and Constancymarch before you.	14 A toi ce bras et sa prouesse, puissante est ta main, sublime est ta droite;
15 How blessed the nation that learns to acclaim you! They will live, Yahweh, in the light of yourpresence.	15 Justice et Droit sont l'appui de ton trône, Amour et Vérité marchent devant ta face.
16 In your name they rejoice al day long, by your saving justice they are raised up.	16 Heureux le peuple qui sait l'acclamation! Yahvé, à la clarté de ta face ils iront;
17 You are the flower of their strength, by your favour our strength is triumphant;	17 en ton nom ils jubilent tout le jour, en ta justice ils s'exaltent.
18 for to Yahweh belongs our shield, to the Holy One of Israel our king.	18 L'éclat de leur puissance, c'est toi, dans ta faveur tu exaltes notre vigueur;
19 Once you spoke in a vision, to your faithful you said: 'I have given strength to a warrior, I have raisedup a man chosen from my people.	19 car à Yahvé est notre bouclier; à lui, Saint d'Israël, est notre roi.
20 'I have found David my servant, and anointed him with my holy oil.	20 Jadis, en vision, tu as parlé et tu as dit à tes amis: "J'ai prêté assistance à un preux, j'ai exalté uncadet de mon peuple.
21 My hand wil always be with him, my arm wil make him strong.	21 J'ai trouvé David mon serviteur, je l'ai oint de mon huile sainte;
22 'No enemy wil be able to outwit him, no wicked man overcome him;	22 pour lui ma main sera ferme, mon bras aussi le rendra fort.
23 I shal crush his enemies before him, strike his opponents dead.	23 L'adversaire ne pourra le tromper, le pervers ne pourra l'accabler;
24 'My constancy and faithful love will be with him, in my name his strength wil be triumphant.	24 j'écraserai devant lui ses agresseurs, ses ennemis, je les frapperai.
25 I shal establish his power over the sea, his dominion over the rivers.	25 Ma vérité et mon amour avec lui, par mon nom s'exaltera sa vigueur;
26 'He wil cry to me, "You are my father, my God, the rock of my salvation!"	26 j'établirai sa main sur la mer et sur les fleuves sa droite.
27 So I shal make him my first-born, the highest of earthly kings.	27 Il m'appellera: Toi, mon père, mon Dieu et le rocher de mon salut!
28 'I shal maintain my faithful love for him always, my covenant with him wil stay firm.	28 si bien que j'en ferai l'aîné, le très-haut sur les rois de la terre.
29 I have established his dynasty for ever, his throne to be as lasting as the heavens.	29 A jamais je lui garde mon amour, mon alliance est pour lui véridique;
30 'Should his descendants desert my law, and not keep to my rulings,	30 j'ai pour toujours établi sa lignée, et son trône comme les jours des cieux.
31 should they violate my statutes, and not observe my commandments,	31 Si ses fils abandonnent ma loi, ne marchent pas selon mes jugements,
32 'then I shal punish their offences with the rod, their guilt with the whip,	32 s'ils profanent mes préceptes et ne gardent pas mes commandements,
33 but I shal never withdraw from him my faithful love, I shal not belie my constancy.	33 je visiterai avec des verges leur péché, avec des coups leur méfait,
34 'I shal not violate my covenant, I shal not withdraw the word once spoken.	34 mais sans retirer de lui mon amour, sans faillir dans ma vérité.
35 I have sworn by my holiness, once and for al , never will I break faith with David.	35 Point ne profanerai mon alliance, ne dédirai le souffle de mes lèvres;
36 'His dynasty shal endure for ever, his throne like the sun before me,	36 une fois j'ai juré par ma sainteté: mentir à David, jamais!
37 as the moon is established for ever, a faithful witness in the skies.'Pause	37 Sa lignée à jamais sera, et son trône comme le soleil devant moi,
38 Yet you yourself -- you have spurned and rejected, and have vented your wrath on your anointed,	38 comme est fondée la lune à jamais, témoin véridique dans la nue."
39 you have repudiated the covenant with your servant, dishonoured his crown in the dust.	39 Mais toi, tu as rejeté et répudié, tu t'es emporté contre ton oint;
40 You have pierced al his defences, and laid his strongholds in ruins,	40 tu as renié l'alliance de ton serviteur, tu as profané jusqu'à terre son diadème.
41 everyone passing by plunders him, he has become the butt of his neighbours.	41 Tu as fait brèche à toutes ses clôtures, tu as mis en ruines ses lieux forts;
42 You have raised high the right hand of his opponents, have made al his enemies happy;	42 tous les passants du chemin l'ont pillé, ses voisins en ont fait une insulte.
43 you have snapped off his sword on a rock, and failed to support him in battle.	43 Tu as donné la haute main à ses agresseurs, tu as mis en joie tous ses adversaires;
44 You have stripped him of his splendid sceptre, and toppled his throne to the ground.	44 tu as brisé son épée contre le roc, tu ne l'as pas épaulé dans le combat.
45 You have aged him before his time, enveloped him in shame.Pause	45 Tu as ôté son sceptre de splendeur, renversé son trône jusqu'à terre;
46 How long, Yahweh, will you remain hidden? For ever? Is your anger to go on smouldering like a fire?	46 tu as écourté les jours de sa jeunesse, étalé sur lui la honte.
47 Remember me; how long have I left? For what pointless end did you create al the children of Adam?	47 Jusques à quand, Yahvé, seras-tu caché? Jusqu'à la fin? Brûlera-t-elle comme un feu, ta colère?
48 Who can live and never see death? Who can save himself from the clutches of Sheol?Pause	48 Souviens-toi de moi: quelle est ma durée? Pour quel néant as-tu créé les fils d'Adam?
49 Lord, what of those pledges of your faithful love? You made an oath to David by your constancy.	49 Qui donc vivra sans voir la mort, soustraira son âme à la griffe du shéol?
50 Do not forget the insults to your servant; I take to heart the taunts of the nations,	50 Où sont les prémices de ton amour, Seigneur? Tu as juré à David sur ta vérité.
51 which your enemies have level ed, Yahweh, have level ed at the footsteps of your anointed!	51 Souviens-toi, Seigneur, de l'insulte à ton serviteur: je reçois en mon sein tous les traits despeuples;
52 Blessed be Yahweh for ever. Amen, Amen.	52 ainsi tes adversaires, Yahvé, ont insulté, ainsi insulté les traces de ton oint!
	53 Béni soit Yahvé à jamais! Amen! Amen!
