[For the choirmaster . . . Jeduthun Psalm Of David] In God alone there is rest for my soul, from himcomes my safety; | 1 For the leader; al Jeduthun. A psalm of David. |
he alone is my rock, my safety, my stronghold so that I stand unshaken. | 2 My soul rests in God alone, from whom comes my salvation. |
How much longer wil you set on a victim, al together, intent on murder, like a rampart already leaningover, a wall already damaged? | 3 God alone is my rock and salvation, my secure height; I shall never fall. |
Trickery is their only plan, deception their only pleasure, with lies on their lips they pronounce ablessing, with a curse in their hearts.Pause | 4 How long will you set upon people, all of you beating them down, As though they were a sagging fence or a battered wall? |
Rest in God alone, my soul! He is the source of my hope. | 5 Even from my place on high they plot to dislodge me. They delight in lies; they bless with their mouths, but inwardly they curse. Selah |
He alone is my rock, my safety, my stronghold, so that I stand unwavering. | 6 My soul, be at rest in God alone, from whom comes my hope. |
In God is my safety and my glory, the rock of my strength. In God is my refuge; | 7 God alone is my rock and my salvation, my secure height; I shall not fall. |
trust in him, you people, at al times. Pour out your hearts to him, God is a refuge for us.Pause | 8 My safety and glory are with God, my strong rock and refuge. |
Ordinary people are a mere puff of wind, important people a delusion; set both on the scales together, and they are lighter than a puff of wind. | 9 Trust God at all times, my people! Pour out your hearts to God our refuge! Selah |
Put no trust in extortion, no empty hopes in robbery; however much wealth may multiply, do not setyour heart on it. | 10 Mortals are a mere breath, the powerful but an illusion; On a balance they rise; together they are lighter than air. |
Once God has spoken, twice have I heard this: Strength belongs to God, | 11 Do not trust in extortion; in plunder put no empty hope. Though wealth increase, do not set your heart upon it. |
to you, Lord, faithful love; and you repay everyone as their deeds deserve. | 12 One thing God has said; two things I have heard: Power belongs to God; |
3) so too, Lord, does kindness, And you render to each of us according to our deeds. |
