NEW JERUSALEM	LA SACRA BIBBIA
1 [For the choirmaster Of David When the prophet Nathan had come to him because he had gone toBathsheba] Have mercy on me, O God, in your faithful love, in your great tenderness wipe away my offences;	1 Al maestro di coro. Salmo. Di Davide,
2 wash me clean from my guilt, purify me from my sin.	2 quando si presentò a lui il profeta Natan a causa del suo peccato con Betsabea.
3 For I am wel aware of my offences, my sin is constantly in mind.	3 Abbi pietà di me, o Dio, secondo la tua misericordia, nella tua grande bontà cancella il mio peccato;
4 Against you, you alone, I have sinned, I have done what you see to be wrong, that you may show yoursaving justice when you pass sentence, and your victory may appear when you give judgement,	4 lavami da tutte le mie colpe, mondami dal mio peccato.
5 remember, I was born guilty, a sinner from the moment of conception.	5 La mia colpa io conosco, il mio peccato mi sta sempre dinanzi.
6 But you delight in sincerity of heart, and in secret you teach me wisdom.	6 Contro te, contro te solo ho peccato, quello che ai tuoi occhi è male, io l'ho fatto; affinché tu appaia giusto nella tua sentenza, retto nel tuo giudizio.
7 Purify me with hyssop till I am clean, wash me til I am whiter than snow.	7 Ecco: nella colpa sono stato generato, nel peccato mi ha concepito mia madre.
8 Let me hear the sound of joy and gladness, and the bones you have crushed wil dance.	8 Ecco: sincerità tu vuoi nell'intimo e sapienza tu m'insegni nel segreto.
9 Turn away your face from my sins, and wipe away al my guilt.	9 Purificami con l'issopo e sarò mondo, lavami e sarò più bianco della neve.
10 God, create in me a clean heart, renew within me a resolute spirit,	10 Fammi risentire gioia e letizia, fa' che esultino le ossa che hai fiaccato.
11 do not thrust me away from your presence, do not take away from me your spirit of holiness.	11 Distogli lo sguardo dai miei peccati, cancella tutte le mie colpe.
12 Give me back the joy of your salvation, sustain in me a generous spirit.	12 Un cuore puro crea in me, o Dio, in me rinnova uno spirito saldo.
13 I shal teach the wicked your paths, and sinners will return to you.	13 Non respingermi dalla tua presenza, non privarmi del tuo santo spirito.
14 Deliver me from bloodshed, God, God of my salvation, and my tongue wil acclaim your savingjustice.	14 Rendimi la gioia della tua salvezza, mi sostenga un animo generoso.
15 Lord, open my lips, and my mouth wil speak out your praise.	15 Insegnerò agli erranti le tue vie e a te ritorneranno i peccatori.
16 Sacrifice gives you no pleasure, burnt offering you do not desire.	16 Liberami dal sangue, o Dio, Dio della mia salvezza: la mia lingua esalti la tua giustizia.
17 Sacrifice to God is a broken spirit, a broken, contrite heart you never scorn.	17 Apri le mie labbra, o Signore, e la mia bocca annunzi la tua lode.
18 In your graciousness do good to Zion, rebuild the wal s of Jerusalem.	18 Poiché il sacrificio tu non gradisci e se offro l'olocausto, tu non l'accetti.
19 Then you wil delight in upright sacrifices,-burnt offerings and whole oblations -- and young bul s will be offered on your altar.	19 Il mio sacrificio, o Dio, è uno spirito contrito, un cuore contrito e umiliato tu non disprezzi, o Dio.
	20 Nella tua benevolenza sii propizio a Sion, riedifica le mura di Gerusalemme.
	21 Allora gradirai di nuovo i sacrifici legittimi, l'olocausto e l'intera oblazione; allora s'immoleranno le vittime sul tuo altare.
