1 [For the choirmaster Of David When the prophet Nathan had come to him because he had gone toBathsheba] Have mercy on me, O God, in your faithful love, in your great tenderness wipe away my offences;	1 Al maestro del coro. Salmo. Di Davide.
2 wash me clean from my guilt, purify me from my sin.	2 Quando il profeta Natan andò da lui, che era andato con Betsabea.
3 For I am wel aware of my offences, my sin is constantly in mind.	3 Pietà di me, o Dio, nel tuo amore;nella tua grande misericordiacancella la mia iniquità.
4 Against you, you alone, I have sinned, I have done what you see to be wrong, that you may show yoursaving justice when you pass sentence, and your victory may appear when you give judgement,	4 Lavami tutto dalla mia colpa,dal mio peccato rendimi puro.
5 remember, I was born guilty, a sinner from the moment of conception.	5 Sì, le mie iniquità io le riconosco,il mio peccato mi sta sempre dinanzi.
6 But you delight in sincerity of heart, and in secret you teach me wisdom.	6 Contro di te, contro te solo ho peccato,quello che è male ai tuoi occhi, io l’ho fatto:così sei giusto nella tua sentenza,sei retto nel tuo giudizio.
7 Purify me with hyssop till I am clean, wash me til I am whiter than snow.	7 Ecco, nella colpa io sono nato,nel peccato mi ha concepito mia madre.
8 Let me hear the sound of joy and gladness, and the bones you have crushed wil dance.	8 Ma tu gradisci la sincerità nel mio intimo,nel segreto del cuore mi insegni la sapienza.
9 Turn away your face from my sins, and wipe away al my guilt.	9 Aspergimi con rami d’issòpo e sarò puro;lavami e sarò più bianco della neve.
10 God, create in me a clean heart, renew within me a resolute spirit,	10 Fammi sentire gioia e letizia:esulteranno le ossa che hai spezzato.
11 do not thrust me away from your presence, do not take away from me your spirit of holiness.	11 Distogli lo sguardo dai miei peccati,cancella tutte le mie colpe.
12 Give me back the joy of your salvation, sustain in me a generous spirit.	12 Crea in me, o Dio, un cuore puro,rinnova in me uno spirito saldo.
13 I shal teach the wicked your paths, and sinners will return to you.	13 Non scacciarmi dalla tua presenzae non privarmi del tuo santo spirito.
14 Deliver me from bloodshed, God, God of my salvation, and my tongue wil acclaim your savingjustice.	14 Rendimi la gioia della tua salvezza,sostienimi con uno spirito generoso.
15 Lord, open my lips, and my mouth wil speak out your praise.	15 Insegnerò ai ribelli le tue viee i peccatori a te ritorneranno.
16 Sacrifice gives you no pleasure, burnt offering you do not desire.	16 Liberami dal sangue, o Dio, Dio mia salvezza:la mia lingua esalterà la tua giustizia.
17 Sacrifice to God is a broken spirit, a broken, contrite heart you never scorn.	17 Signore, apri le mie labbrae la mia bocca proclami la tua lode.
18 In your graciousness do good to Zion, rebuild the wal s of Jerusalem.	18 Tu non gradisci il sacrificio;se offro olocausti, tu non li accetti.
19 Then you wil delight in upright sacrifices,-burnt offerings and whole oblations -- and young bul s will be offered on your altar.	19 Uno spirito contrito è sacrificio a Dio;un cuore contrito e affranto tu, o Dio, non disprezzi.
	20 Nella tua bontà fa’ grazia a Sion,ricostruisci le mura di Gerusalemme.
	21 Allora gradirai i sacrifici legittimi,l’olocausto e l’intera oblazione;allora immoleranno vittime sopra il tuo altare.
