[For the choirmaster For flutes Psalm Of David] Give ear to my words, Yahweh, spare a thought for mysighing. | 1 In finem, pro ea quæ hæreditatem consequitur. Psalmus David. |
Listen to my cry for help, my King and my God! To you I pray, | 2 Verba mea auribus percipe, Domine ; intellige clamorem meum. |
Yahweh. At daybreak you hear my voice; at daybreak I lay my case before you and fix my eyes on you. | 3 Intende voci orationis meæ, rex meus et Deus meus. |
You are not a God who takes pleasure in evil, no sinner can be your guest. | 4 Quoniam ad te orabo, Domine : mane exaudies vocem meam. |
Boasters cannot stand their ground under your gaze. You hate evil-doers, | 5 Mane astabo tibi, et videbo quoniam non Deus volens iniquitatem tu es. |
liars you destroy; the violent and deceitful Yahweh detests. | 6 Neque habitabit juxta te malignus, neque permanebunt injusti ante oculos tuos. |
But, so great is your faithful love, I may come into your house, and before your holy temple bow down inreverence of you. | 7 Odisti omnes qui operantur iniquitatem ; perdes omnes qui loquuntur mendacium. Virum sanguinum et dolosum abominabitur Dominus. |
In your saving justice, Yahweh, lead me, because of those who lie in wait for me; make your way plainbefore me. | 8 Ego autem in multitudine misericordiæ tuæ introibo in domum tuam ; adorabo ad templum sanctum tuum in timore tuo. |
Not a word from their lips can be trusted, through and through they are destruction, their throats arewide -- open graves, their tongues seductive. | 9 Domine, deduc me in justitia tua : propter inimicos meos dirige in conspectu tuo viam meam. |
Lay the guilt on them, God, make their intrigues their own downfal ; for their countless offences, thrustthem from you, since they have rebel ed against you. | 10 Quoniam non est in ore eorum veritas ; cor eorum vanum est. |
But joy for al who take refuge in you, endless songs of gladness! You shelter them, they rejoice inyou, those who love your name. | 11 Sepulchrum patens est guttur eorum ; linguis suis dolose agebant : judica illos, Deus. Decidant a cogitationibus suis ; secundum multitudinem impietatum eorum expelle eos, quoniam irritaverunt te, Domine. |
It is you who bless the upright, Yahweh, you surround them with favour as with a shield. | 12 Et lætentur omnes qui sperant in te ; in æternum exsultabunt, et habitabis in eis. Et gloriabuntur in te omnes qui diligunt nomen tuum, |
quoniam tu benedices justo. Domine, ut scuto bonæ voluntatis tuæ coronasti nos. |
