Psalms 5

1 [For the choirmaster For flutes Psalm Of David] Give ear to my words, Yahweh, spare a thought for mysighing.	1 For the leader; with wind instruments. A psalm of David.
2 Listen to my cry for help, my King and my God! To you I pray,	2 Hear my words, O LORD; listen to my sighing.
3 Yahweh. At daybreak you hear my voice; at daybreak I lay my case before you and fix my eyes on you.	3 Hear my cry for help, my king, my God! To you I pray, O LORD;
4 You are not a God who takes pleasure in evil, no sinner can be your guest.	4 at dawn you will hear my cry; at dawn I will plead before you and wait.
5 Boasters cannot stand their ground under your gaze. You hate evil-doers,	5 You are not a god who delights in evil; no wicked person finds refuge with you;
6 liars you destroy; the violent and deceitful Yahweh detests.	6 the arrogant cannot stand before you. You hate all who do evil;
7 But, so great is your faithful love, I may come into your house, and before your holy temple bow down inreverence of you.	7 you destroy all who speak falsely. Murderers and deceivers the LORD abhors.
8 In your saving justice, Yahweh, lead me, because of those who lie in wait for me; make your way plainbefore me.	8 But I can enter your house because of your great love. I can worship in your holy temple because of my reverence for you, LORD.
9 Not a word from their lips can be trusted, through and through they are destruction, their throats arewide -- open graves, their tongues seductive.	9 Guide me in your justice because of my foes; make straight your way before me.
10 Lay the guilt on them, God, make their intrigues their own downfal ; for their countless offences, thrustthem from you, since they have rebel ed against you.	10 For there is no sincerity in their mouths; their hearts are corrupt. Their throats are open graves; on their tongues are subtle lies.
11 But joy for al who take refuge in you, endless songs of gladness! You shelter them, they rejoice inyou, those who love your name.	11 Declare them guilty, God; make them fall by their own devices. Drive them out for their many sins; they have rebelled against you.
12 It is you who bless the upright, Yahweh, you surround them with favour as with a shield.	12 Then all who take refuge in you will be glad and forever shout for joy. Protect them that you may be the joy of those who love your name.
	13 For you, LORD, bless the just; you surround them with favor like a shield.
