NEW JERUSALEM	LA SACRA BIBBIA
1 [For the choirmaster Psalm Of David] In you, Yahweh, I have taken refuge, let me never be put toshame, in your saving justice deliver me, rescue me,	1 Al maestro di coro. Salmo. Di Davide.
2 turn your ear to me, make haste. Be for me a rock-fastness, a fortified citadel to save me.	2 In te, o Signore, mi rifugio: che non sia confuso per sempre: scampami nella tua giustizia.
3 You are my rock, my rampart; true to your name, lead me and guide me!	3 Protendi verso di me il tuo orecchio: vieni presto a liberarmi; sii per me rocca di scampo, rifugio inaccessibile per la mia salvezza.
4 Draw me out of the net they have spread for me, for you are my refuge;	4 Sì, mia rupe e mia rocca sei tu; per riguardo al tuo nome tu mi guiderai e al riposo mi condurrai.
5 to your hands I commit my spirit, by you have I been redeemed. God of truth,	5 Mi trarrai dalla rete che per me hanno nascosta, poiché tu sei il mio rifugio:
6 you hate those who serve useless idols; but my trust is in Yahweh:	6 nelle tue mani affido il mio spirito; riscattami, o Signore, Dio fedele.
7 I will delight and rejoice in your faithful love! You, who have seen my misery, and witnessed themiseries of my soul,	7 Ho in odio quanti seguono la vanità degli idoli, ho posto invece la mia fiducia nel Signore.
8 have not handed me over to the enemy, but have given me freedom to roam at large.	8 Voglio gioire ed esultare nella tua misericordia, con la quale avrai guardato alla mia afflizione e avrai compreso le angustie dell'anima mia,
9 Take pity on me, Yahweh, for I am in trouble. Vexation is gnawing away my eyes, my soul deep within me.	9 non consegnandomi nella mano del nemico, ma ponendo al sicuro i miei piedi.
10 For my life is worn out with sorrow, and my years with sighs. My strength gives way under my misery,and my bones are al wasted away.	10 Abbi pietà di me, o Signore, poiché l'angustia mi stringe: s'è spento nel dolore il mio occhio, l'anima mia con tutte le mie viscere.
11 The sheer number of my enemies makes me contemptible, loathsome to my neighbours, and myfriends shrink from me in horror. When people see me in the street they take to their heels.	11 Sì, consunta nella tristezza è la mia vita, è abbattuto nell'afflizione il mio vigore, e disfatte sono le mie ossa.
12 I have no more place in their hearts than a corpse, or something lost.	12 Son diventato un ludibrio per tutti quelli che mi opprimono, una calamità per i miei vicini, un terrore per i miei conoscenti: quanti nella strada m'han visto sono fuggiti lontano da me.
13 Al I hear is slander -- terror wherever I turn -- as they plot together against me, scheming to take mylife.	13 Sono tutto raggrinzito come un morto, senza vita, come un oggetto consunto.
14 But my trust is in you, Yahweh; I say, 'You are my God,'	14 Sì, ho udito la diffamazione di molti, terrore da ogni parte! quando uniti contro di me tennero consiglio e deliberarono la rovina dell'anima mia.
15 every moment of my life is in your hands, rescue me from the clutches of my foes who pursue me;	15 Ma io in te confido, o Signore; lo confermo: il mio Dio sei tu:
16 let your face shine on your servant, save me in your faithful love.	16 nelle tue mani stanno le mie sorti; liberami dal potere dei miei nemici e da coloro che m'inseguono.
17 I cal on you, Yahweh, so let disgrace fal not on me, but on the wicked. Let them go down to Sheol insilence,	17 Fa' che il tuo volto risplenda sul tuo servo; salvami per la tua misericordia.
18 muzzles on their lying mouths, which speak arrogantly against the upright in pride and contempt.	18 O Signore, che io non rimanga confuso, avendoti invocato! I malvagi invece siano confusi, precipitati negli inferi.
19 Yahweh, what quantities of good things you have in store for those who fear you, and bestow onthose who make you their refuge, for al humanity to see.	19 Ammutoliscano le labbra di menzogna che con superbia e arroganza proferiscono contro il giusto parole insolenti.
20 Safe in your presence you hide them, far from human plotting, shielding them in your tent, far fromcontentious tongues.	20 Quanto è grande, Signore, la tua bontà che hai posto in riserbo per quelli che ti temono, che hai preparato per coloro che si rifugiano in te!
21 Blessed be Yahweh who works for me miracles of his faithful love (in a fortified city)!	21 Tu li nascondi all'ombra del tuo volto, al riparo dai lacci dell'uomo; li preservi nella tenda dalla morsa di lingue malevoli.
22 In a state of terror I cried, 'I have been cut off from your sight!' Yet you heard my plea for help when Icried out to you.	22 Benedetto sia il Signore, poiché su di me fa risplendere la sua misericordia nella città fortificata;
23 Love Yahweh, al his faithful: Yahweh protects his loyal servants, but he repays the arrogant withinterest.	23 infatti io dicevo nella mia costernazione: "Sono allontanato dal tuo cospetto"; invece, quando t'invocavo, hai dato ascolto alla voce delle mie suppliche.
24 Be brave, take heart, al who put your hope in Yahweh.	24 Amate il Signore, voi tutti suoi devoti; il Signore difende i suoi fedeli e ripaga in abbondanza chi agisce con superbia.
	25 Orsù, si rinfranchi il vostro cuore, voi tutti che sperate nel Signore.
