1 [Prayer Of David] Listen, Yahweh, to an upright cause, pay attention to my cry, lend an ear to myprayer, my lips free from deceit.	1 Mictam di Davide O SIGNORE, ascolta la giustizia, attendi al mio grido, Porgi l’orecchio alla mia orazione, che io ti fo senza labbra di frode.
2 From your presence wil issue my vindication, your eyes fixed on what is right.	2 Proceda il mio giudicio dalla tua presenza; Gli occhi tuoi veggano le diritture.
3 You probe my heart, examine me at night, you test me by fire and find no evil. I have not sinned with my mouth	3 Tu hai provato il mio cuore, tu l’hai visitato di notte; Tu mi hai messo al cimento, e non hai trovato nulla; La mia bocca non trapassa il mio pensiero.
4 as most people do. I have treasured the word from your lips,	4 Nelle opere degli uomini, per la parola della tue labbra, Io mi son guardato dalle vie de’ violenti.
5 my steps never stray from the paths you lay down, from your tracks; so my feet never stumble.	5 Sostieni i miei passi ne’ tuoi sentieri, Acciocchè i miei piedi non vacillino.
6 I call upon you, God, for you answer me; turn your ear to me, hear what I say.	6 Io t’invoco, o Dio, perciocchè tu mi esaudisci; Inchina a me il tuo orecchio, ascolta le mie parole.
7 Show the evidence of your faithful love, saviour of those who hope in your strength against attack.	7 Dimostra maravigliose le tue benignità, O tu, che, con la tua destra, salvi quelli che si confidano in te, Da quelli che si levano contro a loro
8 Guard me as the pupil of an eye, shelter me in the shadow of your wings	8 Guardami come la pupilla dell’occhio, Nascondimi sotto l’ombra delle tue ale,
9 from the presence of the wicked who would maltreat me; deadly enemies are closing in on me.	9 D’innanzi agli empi che mi disertano; E d’innanzi a’ miei mortali nemici che mi circondano.
10 Engrossed in themselves they are mouthing arrogant words.	10 Son tutti massicci di grasso, Parlano altieramente colla lor bocca.
11 They are advancing against me, now they are closing in, watching for the chance to hurl me to theground,	11 Ora c’intorniano, seguitandoci alla traccia; Mirano con gli occhi, per atterrarci;
12 like a lion preparing to pounce, like a young lion crouching in ambush.	12 Somigliano un leone che brama di lacerare; E un leoncello che dimora in nascondimenti.
13 Arise, Yahweh, confront him and bring him down, with your sword save my life from the wicked,	13 Levati, o Signore, va’ loro incontro per affrontarli; abbattili; Riscuoti l’anima mia dall’empio colla tua spada;
14 Yahweh, from mortals, by your hand, from mortals whose part in life is in this world. You fill theirbellies from your store, their children wil have all they desire, and leave their surplus to their children.	14 O Signore, riscuotila colla tua mano dagli uomini, dagli uomini del mondo, La cui parte è in questa vita, E il cui ventre tu empi delle tue conserve; Onde i lor figliuoli son saziati, E lasciano il lor rimanente a’ lor piccoli fanciulli.
15 But I in my uprightness wil see your face, and when I awake I shal be fil ed with the vision of you.	15 Quant’è a me, per giustizia vedrò la tua faccia; Io sarò saziato della tua sembianza, quando io mi risveglierò
