1 [Prayer Of David] Listen, Yahweh, to an upright cause, pay attention to my cry, lend an ear to myprayer, my lips free from deceit.	1 Preghiera. Di Davide. Odi, o Signore, la mia giustizia, fa' attenzione al mio lamento, ascolta la mia preghiera, che non sta su labbra false.
2 From your presence wil issue my vindication, your eyes fixed on what is right.	2 Dal tuo cospetto procede il mio giudizio, i tuoi occhi vedano ciò che è retto.
3 You probe my heart, examine me at night, you test me by fire and find no evil. I have not sinned with my mouth	3 Scruta il mio cuore, vaglialo nella notte, provami nel crogiolo: in me non troverai alcun crimine; non trasgredisce la mia bocca
4 as most people do. I have treasured the word from your lips,	4 secondo l'operato umano; con la parola delle tue labbra dalle vie del violento mi sono custodito,
5 my steps never stray from the paths you lay down, from your tracks; so my feet never stumble.	5 tenendo i miei passi sulle tue orme, perché non vacillassero i miei piedi.
6 I call upon you, God, for you answer me; turn your ear to me, hear what I say.	6 Io ti chiamo, o Dio: tu mi rispondi. Sono certo che verso di me tendi le tue orecchie: ascolta il mio dire.
7 Show the evidence of your faithful love, saviour of those who hope in your strength against attack.	7 Fa' risplendere le tue misericordie, tu che salvi dai loro avversari quanti cercano rifugio nella tua destra.
8 Guard me as the pupil of an eye, shelter me in the shadow of your wings	8 Custodiscimi come la pupilla dell'occhio, all'ombra delle tue ali nascondimi,
9 from the presence of the wicked who would maltreat me; deadly enemies are closing in on me.	9 dal cospetto dei malvagi che mi usano violenza, dai nemici mortali che da ogni parte mi stringono.
10 Engrossed in themselves they are mouthing arrogant words.	10 Hanno serrato le loro viscere, hanno in bocca parole arroganti;
11 They are advancing against me, now they are closing in, watching for the chance to hurl me to theground,	11 stanno in agguato, mi hanno già circondato, volgono i loro occhi per prostrarmi a terra.
12 like a lion preparing to pounce, like a young lion crouching in ambush.	12 La sua somiglianza è quella del leone che brama la preda e del leoncello che sta in agguato.
13 Arise, Yahweh, confront him and bring him down, with your sword save my life from the wicked,	13 Sorgi, o Signore, affronta il suo volto e abbattilo; con la tua spada scampa l'anima mia dall'empio,
14 Yahweh, from mortals, by your hand, from mortals whose part in life is in this world. You fill theirbellies from your store, their children wil have all they desire, and leave their surplus to their children.	14 con la tua mano, o Signore, dai morti, cui è venuta meno la sorte fra i vivi; delle tue recondite provviste riempi il loro ventre. Si saziano i figli e ne lasciano un resto per i loro piccoli.
15 But I in my uprightness wil see your face, and when I awake I shal be fil ed with the vision of you.	15 Io nella giustizia voglio contemplare il tuo volto; voglio saziarmi, al mio risveglio, della tua presenza.
