NEW JERUSALEM | NOVA VULGATA |
---|---|
[Prayer Of David] Listen, Yahweh, to an upright cause, pay attention to my cry, lend an ear to myprayer, my lips free from deceit. | 1 Precatio. David. Exaudi, Domine, iustitiam meam, intende deprecationem meam. Auribus percipe orationem meam, non in labiis dolosis. |
From your presence wil issue my vindication, your eyes fixed on what is right. | 2 De vultu tuo iudicium meum prodeat; oculi tui videant aequitates. |
You probe my heart, examine me at night, you test me by fire and find no evil. I have not sinned with my mouth | 3 Proba cor meum et visita nocte; igne me examina, et non invenies in me iniquitatem. |
as most people do. I have treasured the word from your lips, | 4 Non transgreditur os meum ad opera hominum, propter verba labiorum tuorum custodivi me a viis violenti. |
my steps never stray from the paths you lay down, from your tracks; so my feet never stumble. | 5 Retine gressus meos in semitis tuis, ut non moveantur vestigia mea. |
I call upon you, God, for you answer me; turn your ear to me, hear what I say. | 6 Ego ad te clamavi, quoniam exaudis me, Deus; inclina aurem tuam mihi et exaudi verba mea. |
Show the evidence of your faithful love, saviour of those who hope in your strength against attack. | 7 Mirifica misericordias tuas, qui salvos facis ab insurgentibus sperantes in dextera tua. |
Guard me as the pupil of an eye, shelter me in the shadow of your wings | 8 Custodi me ut pupillam oculi, sub umbra alarum tuarum protege me |
from the presence of the wicked who would maltreat me; deadly enemies are closing in on me. | 9 a facie impiorum, qui me afflixerunt. Inimici mei in furore circumdederunt me, |
Engrossed in themselves they are mouthing arrogant words. | 10 adipem suum concluserunt; os eorum locutum est superbiam. |
They are advancing against me, now they are closing in, watching for the chance to hurl me to theground, | 11 Incedentes nunc circumdederunt me, oculos suos statuerunt prosternere in terram. |
like a lion preparing to pounce, like a young lion crouching in ambush. | 12 Aspectus eorum quasi leonis parati ad praedam et sicut catuli leonis recubantis in abditis. |
Arise, Yahweh, confront him and bring him down, with your sword save my life from the wicked, | 13 Exsurge, Domine, praeveni eum, supplanta eum; eripe animam meam ab impio framea tua, |
Yahweh, from mortals, by your hand, from mortals whose part in life is in this world. You fill theirbellies from your store, their children wil have all they desire, and leave their surplus to their children. | 14 a mortuis manu tua, Domine, a mortuis, quorum defecit portio vitae. De reconditis tuis adimpleas ventrem eorum, saturentur filii et dimittant reliquias parvulis suis. |
But I in my uprightness wil see your face, and when I awake I shal be fil ed with the vision of you. | 15 Ego autem in iustitia videbo faciem tuam; satiabor, cum evigilavero, conspectu tuo. |
