Psalms 143

NEW JERUSALEM	NEW AMERICAN BIBLE
1 [Psalm Of David] Yahweh, hear my prayer, listen to my pleading; in your constancy answer me, inyour saving justice;	1 A psalm of David. LORD, hear my prayer; in your faithfulness listen to my pleading; answer me in your justice.
2 do not put your servant on trial, for no one living can be found guiltless at your tribunal.	2 Do not enter into judgment with your servant; before you no living being can be just.
3 An enemy is in deadly pursuit, crushing me into the ground, forcing me to live in darkness, like thoselong dead.	3 The enemy has pursued me; they have crushed my life to the ground. They have left me in darkness like those long dead.
4 My spirit is faint, and within me my heart is numb with fear.	4 My spirit is faint within me; my heart is dismayed.
5 I recal the days of old, reflecting on al your deeds, I ponder the works of your hands.	5 I remember the days of old; I ponder all your deeds; the works of your hands I recall.

7 Answer me quickly, Yahweh, my spirit is worn out; do not turn away your face from me, or I shal belike those who sink into oblivion.	7 Hasten to answer me, LORD; for my spirit fails me. Do not hide your face from me, lest I become like those descending to the pit.
8 Let dawn bring news of your faithful love, for I place my trust in you; show me the road I must travelfor you to relieve my heart.	8 At dawn let me hear of your kindness, for in you I trust. Show me the path I should walk, for to you I entrust my life.
9 Rescue me from my enemies, Yahweh, since in you I find protection.	9 Rescue me, LORD, from my foes, for in you I hope.
10 Teach me to do your will, for you are my God. May your generous spirit lead me on even ground.	10 Teach me to do your will, for you are my God. May your kind spirit guide me on ground that is level.
