[For the choirmaster On the octachord Psalm Of David] Help, Yahweh! No one loyal is left, the faithfulhave vanished from among the children of Adam. | 1 Magistro chori. Super octavam. Psalmus. David. |
Friend tel s lies to friend, and, smooth-tongued, speaks from an insincere heart. | 2 Salvum me fac, Domine, quoniam defecit sanctus, quoniam deminuti sunt fideles a filiis hominum. |
May Yahweh cut away every smooth lip, every boastful tongue, | 3 Vana locuti sunt unusquisque ad proximum suum; in labiis dolosis, in duplici corde locuti sunt. |
those who say, 'In our tongue lies our strength, our lips are our al ies; who can master us?' | 4 Disperdat Dominus universa labia dolosa et linguam magniloquam. |
'For the poor who are plundered, the needy who groan, now wil I act,' says Yahweh, 'I wil grantsalvation to those who sigh for it.' | 5 Qui dixerunt: “ Lingua nostra magnificabimur, labia nostra a nobis sunt; quis noster dominus est? ”. |
Yahweh's promises are promises unal oyed, natural silver which comes from the earth seven timesrefined. | 6 “ Propter miseriam inopum et gemitum pauperum, nunc exsurgam, dicit Dominus; ponam in salutari illum, quem despiciunt ”. |
You, Yahweh, wil watch over them, you will protect them from that brood for ever. | 7 Eloquia Domini eloquia casta, argentum igne examinatum, separatum a terra, purgatum septuplum. |
The wicked wil scatter in every direction, as the height of depravity among the children of Adam. | 8 Tu, Domine, servabis nos et custodies nos a generatione hac in aeternum. In circuitu impii ambulant, cum exaltantur sordes inter filios hominum. |
