Job 35

NEW JERUSALEM	BIBBIA TINTORI
1 Elihu continued his speech. He said:	1 Poi Eliu continuò a parlare, e disse:
2 Do you think you can prove yourself upright and establish your uprightness before God	2 « Ti sembra forse d'averla pensata giusta, quando dicesti: Io son più giusto di Dio?
3 by daring to say to him, 'What does it matter to you, or how does it benefit me, whether I have sinnedor not?'	3 Hai detto infatti: Quello che è giusto non ti piace, o qual vantaggio te ne viene se io pecco?
4 Very well, I shal tel you and your friends as wel .	4 Io dunque risponderò alle tue parole e ai tuoi amici assieme con te.
5 Take a look at the skies and see, observe how high the clouds are above you.	5 Alza gli occhi al cielo e mira, contempla quella volta come è più alta di te.
6 If you sin, how can you affect him? If you heap up crimes, what effect has it on him?	6 Se tu pecchi, qual danno gli farai? Anche moltiplicando le tue iniquità, che farai contro di lui?
7 If you are upright, what do you give him, what benefit does he receive at your hands?	7 E se operi con giustizia che gli dèi, che riceve egli dalla tua mano?
8 Your wickedness affects only your fel ows, your uprightness, other human beings.	8 La tua empietà nuocerà ad un uomo simile a te, e la tua giustizia sarà utile al figlio dell'uomo.
9 They too groan under the weight of oppression, they cry for help under the tyranny of the mighty,	9 Grideranno a motivo della moltitudine degli oppressori, si lamenteranno contro il braccio violento dei tiranni.
10 but none of them thinks of saying, 'Where is God, my Maker, who makes glad songs ring out at night,	10 Ma nessuno di essi dice: Dov'è Dio che mi ha creato, e ispira durante la notte i cantici?
11 who has made us more intel igent than wild animals wiser than birds in the sky?'	11 Che ci fa sapere più degli animali della terra e ci fa più sapienti degli uccelli del cielo?
12 Cry they may, but get no answer, to be spared from the arrogance of the wicked.	12 Allora grideranno e non li starà a sentire, a motivo della superbia dei malvagi.
13 Of course God does not listen to trivialities, Shaddai pays no attention to them.	13 Dunque non invano Dio starà a sentire, e l'Onnipotente considererà la causa di ciascuno.
14 And how much less when you say, 'I cannot see him, my case is open and I am waiting for him.'	14 Anche quando tu avrai detto: Non ci guarda, esamina te stesso davanti a lui e aspettalo;
15 Or, 'His anger never punishes, he does not seem aware of human rebel ion.'	15 perchè non è ora che mette in moto il suo furore, non ora punisce a rigore il delitto.
16 Hence, when Job speaks, he talks nonsense, ignorantly babbling on and on.	16 Invano dunque Giobbe apre la bocca e moltiplita senza giudizio le parole ».
