Job 35

1 Elihu continued his speech. He said:	1 - Continuò pertanto Eliu a dire:
2 Do you think you can prove yourself upright and establish your uprightness before God	2 «Ti sembra forse retto il tuo pensierodi dire: - Io sono più giusto di Dio ?-
3 by daring to say to him, 'What does it matter to you, or how does it benefit me, whether I have sinnedor not?'	3 Tu infatti hai affermato: - A te, [o Dio], non piace ciò ch'è retto - ovvero: - Che cosa ti giova, se io pecco? -
4 Very well, I shal tel you and your friends as wel .	4 Io quindi risponderò ai tuoi discorsi, e agli amici tuoi teco.
5 Take a look at the skies and see, observe how high the clouds are above you.	5 Considera il cielo e guarda, e osserva il firmamento quant'è più alto di te!
6 If you sin, how can you affect him? If you heap up crimes, what effect has it on him?	6 Se tu pecchi, che danno arrechi a Lui? e se moltiplichi i tuoi delitti, che fai contro di Lui?
7 If you are upright, what do you give him, what benefit does he receive at your hands?	7 Se poi agisci rettamente, che cosa gli doni? ovver che cosa riceve egli dalla tua mano?
8 Your wickedness affects only your fel ows, your uprightness, other human beings.	8 All'uomo, qual sei tu, nuocerà la tua empietà, e al figlio dell'uomo gioverà la tua giustizia.
9 They too groan under the weight of oppression, they cry for help under the tyranny of the mighty,	9 Per la moltitudine di oppressori s'alzano grida, si geme sotto la violenza dei tiranni.
10 but none of them thinks of saying, 'Where is God, my Maker, who makes glad songs ring out at night,	10 Ma non si esclama: - Ov'è Dio che mi ha fatto, che concede accenti di giubilo nella notte [di sventura];
11 who has made us more intel igent than wild animals wiser than birds in the sky?'	11 che ci rende più avveduti delle bestie della terra, e più degli uccelli del cielo ci rende sapienti ?-
12 Cry they may, but get no answer, to be spared from the arrogance of the wicked.	12 In tal caso si grida, senza ch'ei risponda, di fronte all'orgoglio dei malvagi.
13 Of course God does not listen to trivialities, Shaddai pays no attention to them.	13 Non invano dunque ascolta Dio, e l'Onnipotente riguarda la causa di ciascuno;
14 And how much less when you say, 'I cannot see him, my case is open and I am waiting for him.'	14 anche se tu dici: - Egli non ci bada! -subisci il tuo giudizio avanti a lui, e spera in lui:
15 Or, 'His anger never punishes, he does not seem aware of human rebel ion.'	15 perchè egli adesso non esercita il suo furore, nè prende gran vendetta del delitto.
16 Hence, when Job speaks, he talks nonsense, ignorantly babbling on and on.	16 Dunque Giobbe invano apre la sua bocca, e senza cognizione moltiplica le parole.»
