1 Elihu continued his speech. He said:	1 Élihou prit encore la parole:
2 Do you think you can prove yourself upright and establish your uprightness before God	2 Voyons, Job, crois-tu vraiment avoir raison et pouvoir te justifier devant Dieu
3 by daring to say to him, 'What does it matter to you, or how does it benefit me, whether I have sinnedor not?'	3 quand tu lui dis: “Que t’importe, qu’est-ce que cela te fait si je pèche?”
4 Very well, I shal tel you and your friends as wel .	4 Eh bien, je veux t’en dire quelque chose, et à tes amis en même temps.
5 Take a look at the skies and see, observe how high the clouds are above you.	5 Lève les yeux vers le ciel et regarde: vois ces nuages bien au-dessus de toi!
6 If you sin, how can you affect him? If you heap up crimes, what effect has it on him?	6 Donc, si tu pèches, atteins-tu le Très-Haut? Tu auras beau l’offenser, que peux-tu lui faire?
7 If you are upright, what do you give him, what benefit does he receive at your hands?	7 De même si tu es juste, que lui apportes-tu, quel cadeau lui fais-tu?
8 Your wickedness affects only your fel ows, your uprightness, other human beings.	8 Tu ne nuis qu’à celui qui comme toi est humain, tes vertus valent pour des hommes.
9 They too groan under the weight of oppression, they cry for help under the tyranny of the mighty,	9 Les hommes crient sous le poids de l’oppression, ils appellent au secours quand les grands les oppriment.
10 but none of them thinks of saying, 'Where is God, my Maker, who makes glad songs ring out at night,	10 Mais disent-ils: “Où est le Dieu qui nous a faits, celui qui fait chanter les nuits,
11 who has made us more intel igent than wild animals wiser than birds in the sky?'	11 celui qui nous instruit par les bêtes de la terre et par l’oiseau du ciel nous livre la sagesse?”
12 Cry they may, but get no answer, to be spared from the arrogance of the wicked.	12 Voilà pourquoi ils crient et Dieu ne répond pas quand ils subissent les excès des méchants.
13 Of course God does not listen to trivialities, Shaddai pays no attention to them.	13 Tout est inutile! Dieu n’écoute pas, le Puissant regarde ailleurs.
14 And how much less when you say, 'I cannot see him, my case is open and I am waiting for him.'	14 Ce sera pire si tu dis que tu ne le vois pas, que tu veux un jugement et que tu l’attends,
15 Or, 'His anger never punishes, he does not seem aware of human rebel ion.'	15 ou si tu dis que sa colère ne sait pas punir et qu’il n’est guère au courant des injustices.
16 Hence, when Job speaks, he talks nonsense, ignorantly babbling on and on.	16 Job veut qu’on l’entende, mais c’est du creux; il multiplie les discours mais il ne sait pas!
