Job 35

NEW JERUSALEM	BIBBIA CEI 2008
1 Elihu continued his speech. He said:	1 Eliu prese a dire:
2 Do you think you can prove yourself upright and establish your uprightness before God	2 «Ti pare di aver pensato correttamente, quando dicesti: “Sono giusto davanti a Dio”?
3 by daring to say to him, 'What does it matter to you, or how does it benefit me, whether I have sinnedor not?'	3 Tu dici infatti: “A che serve? Quale guadagno ho a non peccare?”.
4 Very well, I shal tel you and your friends as wel .	4 Voglio replicare a te e ai tuoi amici insieme con te.
5 Take a look at the skies and see, observe how high the clouds are above you.	5 Contempla il cielo e osserva, considera le nubi, come sono più alte di te.
6 If you sin, how can you affect him? If you heap up crimes, what effect has it on him?	6 Se pecchi, che cosa gli fai? Se aumenti i tuoi delitti, che danno gli arrechi?
7 If you are upright, what do you give him, what benefit does he receive at your hands?	7 Se tu sei giusto, che cosa gli dai o che cosa riceve dalla tua mano?
8 Your wickedness affects only your fel ows, your uprightness, other human beings.	8 Su un uomo come te ricade la tua malizia, su un figlio d’uomo la tua giustizia!
9 They too groan under the weight of oppression, they cry for help under the tyranny of the mighty,	9 Si grida sotto il peso dell’oppressione, si invoca aiuto contro il braccio dei potenti,
10 but none of them thinks of saying, 'Where is God, my Maker, who makes glad songs ring out at night,	10 ma non si dice: “Dov’è quel Dio che mi ha creato, che ispira nella notte canti di gioia,
11 who has made us more intel igent than wild animals wiser than birds in the sky?'	11 che ci rende più istruiti delle bestie selvatiche, che ci fa più saggi degli uccelli del cielo?”.
12 Cry they may, but get no answer, to be spared from the arrogance of the wicked.	12 Si grida, allora, ma egli non risponde a causa della superbia dei malvagi.
13 Of course God does not listen to trivialities, Shaddai pays no attention to them.	13 È inutile: Dio non ascolta e l’Onnipotente non vi presta attenzione;
14 And how much less when you say, 'I cannot see him, my case is open and I am waiting for him.'	14 ancor meno quando tu dici che non lo vedi, che la tua causa sta innanzi a lui e tu in lui speri,
15 Or, 'His anger never punishes, he does not seem aware of human rebel ion.'	15 e così pure quando dici che la sua ira non punisce né si cura molto dell’iniquità.
16 Hence, when Job speaks, he talks nonsense, ignorantly babbling on and on.	16 Giobbe dunque apre a vuoto la sua bocca e accumula chiacchiere senza senso».
