NEW JERUSALEM	Sacra Bibbia Garofalo
1 In the seventh year Jehoiada decided to take action and made a pact with the regimentalcommanders, Azariah son of Jeroham, Ishmael son of Jehohanan, Azariah son of Obed, Maaseiah son ofAdaiah and Elishaphat son of Zichri.	1 Il settimo anno, Joiada, preso coraggio, strinse un patto con i capi di cento, cioè con Azaria figlio di Jerokham, con Ismaele figlio di Jokhanan, con Azaria figlio di Obed, con Maaseia figlio di Adaia e con Elishafat figlio di Zichri.
2 These went al over Judah, gathering the Levites from al the towns of Judah, and the heads of theIsraelite families, who then came to Jerusalem,	2 Essi percorsero Giuda e radunarono i Leviti da tutte le città di Giuda e i capicasata di Israele, poi vennero a Gerusalemme.
3 and the whole assembly made a pact with the king in the Temple of God. Jehoiada said to them,'Look, the king's son is now to be king, as Yahweh has promised of the sons of David!	3 Qui tutta l’assemblea strinse un patto, nel tempio di Dio, con il re e Joiada parlò loro: «Il figlio del re deve regnare secondo la promessa di Jahvè ai figli di David.
4 This is what you must do: a third of you priests and Levites who come on duty on the Sabbath mustguard the gates,	4 Ecco pertanto la vostra consegna: un terzo di voi, sacerdoti e Leviti, che entrate in servizio al sabato, si porrà di guardia alle soglie;
5 a third the royal palace, a third the Foundation Gate, while the people must al stay in the courts of theTemple of Yahweh.	5 un altro terzo alla reggia e un terzo alla porta di Jesod. Tutto il popolo si fermerà nei cortili del tempio di Jahvè.
6 No one must enter the Temple of Yahweh except the priests and the ministering Levites; they maycome in because they are consecrated. But the people must al observe Yahweh's regulations.	6 Nessuno entri nel tempio di Jahvè, all’infuori dei sacerdoti e degli inservienti dei Leviti. Essi potranno entrare, perché sono santificati; tutto il popolo invece deve attenersi alle prescrizioni di Jahvè.
7 The Levites must surround the king, each man with his weapons in his hands; anyone who enters theTemple must be kil ed. And you wil escort the king when he comes in and when he leaves.'	7 I Leviti pertanto, ognuno con le armi in mano, circonderanno il re tutto intorno. Sia ucciso chiunque osì entrare nel tempio! Quelli poi restino con il re in ogni sua mossa».
8 The Levites and al Judah did everything as Jehoiada the priest had ordered, and each one broughthis men, those coming on duty on the Sabbath and those going off duty on the Sabbath, for Jehoiada the priesthad not released any of the divisions from duty.	8 I Leviti e tutto Giuda eseguirono tutti gli ordini del sacerdote Joiada. Ognuno prese i suoi uomini, quelli che entravano in servizio al sabato e quelli che ne uscivano, poiché il sacerdote Joiada non aveva licenziato le classi di questi ultimi.
9 Jehoiada the priest then issued the regimental commanders with King David's spears and large andsmal shields, which were kept in the Temple of God.	9 Il sacerdote Joiada diede ai capi di cento le lance, le corazze e gli scudi del re David, che si trovavano nel tempio di Dio.
10 He then positioned al the people, each man with his weapon in his hand, from the south side of theTemple to the north side of the Temple, close to the altar and the Temple, to form a circle round the king.	10 Poi dispose tutto il popolo, ognuno con l’asta in pugno intorno al re che era rivolto all’altare e al tempio, cominciando dal lato meridionale fino al lato settentrionale del tempio.
11 Then they brought the king's son out, crowned him, gave him a copy of the covenant and made himking. When Jehoiada and his sons had anointed him, they shouted, 'Long live the king!'	11 Allora condussero fuori il figlio del re, gli consegnarono il diadema e le insegne regali e lo proclamarono re. Joiada e i suoi figli lo unsero e gridarono: «Viva il re!»
12 On hearing the people shouting as they ran to acclaim the king, Athaliah joined the people in theTemple of Yahweh.	12 Atalia udì il frastuono del popolo che correva e inneggiava al sovrano e si diresse verso la turba nel tempio di Jahvè.
13 When she looked, there stood the king on his dais by the entrance, with the officers and trumpetersat the king's side, and all the people of the country rejoicing and blowing the trumpets, and the singers with theirmusical instruments leading the hymns of praise. Then Athaliah tore her clothes and shouted, 'Treason, treason!'	13 Guardò ed ecco il re in piedi all’ingresso vicino alla sua colonna, i capi e le trombe presso il re, mentre tutto il popolo della terra si rallegrava e dava fiato alle trombe. C’erano anche i cantori, i quali intonavano lodi con i loro strumenti musicali. Allora Atalia, stracciatesi le vesti, gridò: «Congiura! Congiura!»
14 Jehoiada the priest then gave the order to the regimental commanders in charge of the troops, 'Takeher out between the ranks and put to the sword anyone who follows her.' For the priest had already said, 'Do notkil her inside the Temple of Yahweh.'	14 Ma il sacerdote Joiada diede quest’ordine ai capi di cento preposti all’esercito: «Conducetela fuori in mezzo alle file! Chiunque la segue sia ucciso di spada». Il sacerdote aveva infatti comandato: «Non uccidetela nel tempio di Jahvè».
15 So they made way for her, and when she reached the entrance to the Horses' Gate of the palace,they kil ed her there.	15 La presero perciò in mezzo ed essa giunse per l’ingresso della porta dei Cavalli alla reggia e vi fu uccisa.
16 Jehoiada made a covenant between himself, al the people and the king to remain Yahweh's people.	16 Joiada strinse quindi un’alleanza tra Jahvè, tutto il popolo e il re, perché diventassero un popolo di Jahvè.
17 Al the people then went to the temple of Baal and demolished it; they smashed its altars and itsimages and kil ed Mattan the priest of Baal in front of the altars.	17 Tutto il popolo andò al tempio di Baal e lo demolì. Frantumò i suoi altari e i suoi simulacri, mentre Mattan il sacerdote di Baal fu ucciso innanzi ai suoi altari.
18 Jehoiada entrusted the security of the Temple of Yahweh to the priests and Levites, whom David hadput in charge of the Temple of Yahweh to present the burnt offerings of Yahweh as laid down in the Law ofMoses, with joy and song as ordained by David.	18 Joiada affidò i vari uffici del tempio di Jahvè ai sacerdoti e ai Leviti che David aveva diviso in classi per il tempio di Jahvè, perché offrissero tra il giubilo e i cantici, secondo gli ordini di David, gli olocausti di Jahvè, come era scritto nella legge di Mosè.
19 He also appointed gatekeepers for the gates of the Temple of Yahweh, so that no one who wasunclean might enter for any purpose at al .	19 Egli collocò i portinai alle porte del tempio di Jahvè, affinché nessun impuro vi entrasse per qualunque motivo.
20 He then took the regimental commanders, the nobles, the government officials and al the people ofthe land and he escorted the king down from the Temple of Yahweh. Entering the palace through the UpperGate, they placed the king on the royal throne.	20 Chiamati poi i capi di cento, i notabili e i governatori del popolo, come pure tutto il popolo della terra, condusse giù il re dal tempio di Jahvè. Entrati nella reggia per la porta superiore, fecero sedere il re sul trono del regno.
21 Al the people of the land were delighted, and the city made no move after Athaliah had been put todeath.	21 Tutto il popolo della terra si rallegrò e la città ebbe pace, perché Atalia era stata uccisa di spada.
