NEW JERUSALEM	LA SACRA BIBBIA
1 In the seventh year Jehoiada decided to take action and made a pact with the regimentalcommanders, Azariah son of Jeroham, Ishmael son of Jehohanan, Azariah son of Obed, Maaseiah son ofAdaiah and Elishaphat son of Zichri.	1 Il settimo anno, Ioiadà, fattosi coraggio, prese i capi di centinaia, cioè Azaria, figlio di Ierocam, Ismaele, figlio di Giovanni, Azaria, figlio di Obed, Maaseia, figlio di Adaia, ed Elisafàt, figlio di Zicrì, e strinse con essi un patto.
2 These went al over Judah, gathering the Levites from al the towns of Judah, and the heads of theIsraelite families, who then came to Jerusalem,	2 Essi percorsero Giuda radunando i leviti da tutte le città di Giuda e i capi dei casati d'Israele; costoro vennero a Gerusalemme.
3 and the whole assembly made a pact with the king in the Temple of God. Jehoiada said to them,'Look, the king's son is now to be king, as Yahweh has promised of the sons of David!	3 Tutta l'assemblea concluse un patto con il re nel tempio di Dio e Ioiadà disse loro: "Ecco il figlio del re; egli regnerà come il Signore ha promesso ai figli di Davide.
4 This is what you must do: a third of you priests and Levites who come on duty on the Sabbath mustguard the gates,	4 Questo è ciò che dovete fare: la terza parte di voi, che prestano servizio il sabato come sacerdoti e leviti, farà la guardia alle soglie;
5 a third the royal palace, a third the Foundation Gate, while the people must al stay in the courts of theTemple of Yahweh.	5 un'altra terza parte starà nel palazzo del re, e un terzo alla porta della Fondazione, mentre tutto il popolo starà nei cortili del tempio del Signore.
6 No one must enter the Temple of Yahweh except the priests and the ministering Levites; they maycome in because they are consecrated. But the people must al observe Yahweh's regulations.	6 Nessuno entri nel tempio del Signore ad eccezione dei sacerdoti e dei leviti che sono di servizio. Questi entreranno, perché sono consacrati; tutto il popolo osserverà la prescrizione del Signore.
7 The Levites must surround the king, each man with his weapons in his hands; anyone who enters theTemple must be kil ed. And you wil escort the king when he comes in and when he leaves.'	7 I leviti faranno il cerchio intorno al re, ognuno con le sue armi in mano. Chi entra nel tempio sarà messo a morte; essi saranno vicini al re dovunque egli vada".
8 The Levites and al Judah did everything as Jehoiada the priest had ordered, and each one broughthis men, those coming on duty on the Sabbath and those going off duty on the Sabbath, for Jehoiada the priesthad not released any of the divisions from duty.	8 I leviti e tutto Giuda eseguirono tutto ciò che aveva ordinato il sacerdote Ioiadà. Ognuno prese i suoi uomini, quelli che entravano in servizio il sabato e quelli che ne uscivano, perché il sacerdote Ioiadà non aveva licenziato nessuna classe.
9 Jehoiada the priest then issued the regimental commanders with King David's spears and large andsmal shields, which were kept in the Temple of God.	9 Il sacerdote Ioiadà diede ai capicenturia le lance, le corazze e gli scudi già appartenenti al re Davide e che si trovavano nel tempio del Signore.
10 He then positioned al the people, each man with his weapon in his hand, from the south side of theTemple to the north side of the Temple, close to the altar and the Temple, to form a circle round the king.	10 Poi dispose tutto il popolo, ognuno con la sua asta in pugno, dal lato destro fino al lato sinistro del tempio, lungo l'altare e l'edificio, intorno al re.
11 Then they brought the king's son out, crowned him, gave him a copy of the covenant and made himking. When Jehoiada and his sons had anointed him, they shouted, 'Long live the king!'	11 Allora fece uscire il figlio del re e, imponendogli il diadema e le insegne, lo proclamò re. Ioiadà e i suoi figli lo unsero e quindi gridarono: "Viva il re!".
12 On hearing the people shouting as they ran to acclaim the king, Athaliah joined the people in theTemple of Yahweh.	12 Al sentire le grida del popolo che accorreva acclamando il re, Atalia si presentò al popolo nel tempio del Signore.
13 When she looked, there stood the king on his dais by the entrance, with the officers and trumpetersat the king's side, and all the people of the country rejoicing and blowing the trumpets, and the singers with theirmusical instruments leading the hymns of praise. Then Athaliah tore her clothes and shouted, 'Treason, treason!'	13 Guardò: ecco il re stava sul seggio all'ingresso, i capi e i trombettieri si trovavano attorno al re e tutto il popolo del paese esultava dando fiato alle trombe; i cantori con i loro strumenti musicali davano le indicazioni per le acclamazioni. Atalia si strappò le vesti e gridò: "Tradimento, tradimento!".
14 Jehoiada the priest then gave the order to the regimental commanders in charge of the troops, 'Takeher out between the ranks and put to the sword anyone who follows her.' For the priest had already said, 'Do notkil her inside the Temple of Yahweh.'	14 Il sacerdote Ioiadà ordinò ai capicenturia che comandavano la truppa: "Conducetela fuori in mezzo alle file! Chi la segue, sia ucciso di spada". Infatti il sacerdote aveva detto: "Non uccidetela nel tempio del Signore".
15 So they made way for her, and when she reached the entrance to the Horses' Gate of the palace,they kil ed her there.	15 Le misero sopra le mani e quando arrivò al palazzo reale, la uccisero all'entrata della porta dei Cavalli.
16 Jehoiada made a covenant between himself, al the people and the king to remain Yahweh's people.	16 Ioiadà concluse un patto tra sé, tutto il popolo e il re, affinché il popolo diventasse un popolo del Signore.
17 Al the people then went to the temple of Baal and demolished it; they smashed its altars and itsimages and kil ed Mattan the priest of Baal in front of the altars.	17 Tutto il popolo si recò nel tempio di Baal e lo demolirono. Fecero a pezzi i suoi altari e le sue statue, uccisero davanti agli altari il sacerdote di Baal, Mattan.
18 Jehoiada entrusted the security of the Temple of Yahweh to the priests and Levites, whom David hadput in charge of the Temple of Yahweh to present the burnt offerings of Yahweh as laid down in the Law ofMoses, with joy and song as ordained by David.	18 Ioiadà affidò la sorveglianza del tempio del Signore ai sacerdoti e ai leviti che Davide aveva ripartito in classi per il tempio del Signore, onde offrissero olocausti al Signore, come sta scritto nella legge di Mosè, tra gioia e canti, secondo gli ordini di Davide.
19 He also appointed gatekeepers for the gates of the Temple of Yahweh, so that no one who wasunclean might enter for any purpose at al .	19 Stabilì inoltre i portieri alle porte del tempio, perché per nessun motivo potesse entrarvi un impuro.
20 He then took the regimental commanders, the nobles, the government officials and al the people ofthe land and he escorted the king down from the Temple of Yahweh. Entering the palace through the UpperGate, they placed the king on the royal throne.	20 Prese i capicenturia, i notabili e quanti avevano autorità fra il popolo, come anche tutto il popolo del paese, e fece scendere il re dal tempio del Signore. Attraverso la porta superiore giunsero nella reggia e fecero sedere il re sul trono regale.
21 Al the people of the land were delighted, and the city made no move after Athaliah had been put todeath.	21 Tutto il popolo del paese fu in festa; la città rimase tranquilla; benché Atalia fosse stata uccisa di spada.
