1 In the seventh year Jehoiada decided to take action and made a pact with the regimentalcommanders, Azariah son of Jeroham, Ishmael son of Jehohanan, Azariah son of Obed, Maaseiah son ofAdaiah and Elishaphat son of Zichri.	1 Ma l'anno settimo Joiada, fattosi animo, si unì coi centurioni, viene a dire, Azaria figliuolo di Jeroham, e Ismahel figliuolo di Johanan, e Azaria figliuolo di Obed, e Maasia figliuolo di Adaia, ed Elisaphat figliuolo di Zechri: e fece lega con essi.
2 These went al over Judah, gathering the Levites from al the towns of Judah, and the heads of theIsraelite families, who then came to Jerusalem,	2 E questi andando attorno pel paese di Giuda raunarono da tutte le città di Giuda i Leviti, e i principi delle famiglie d'Israele, i quali si portarono a Gerusalemme.
3 and the whole assembly made a pact with the king in the Temple of God. Jehoiada said to them,'Look, the king's son is now to be king, as Yahweh has promised of the sons of David!	3 E tutta questa gente strinse lega col re nella casa di Dio. E Joiada disse loro: Ecco che il figliuolo del re regnerà, come il Signore predisse dei figliuoli di David.
4 This is what you must do: a third of you priests and Levites who come on duty on the Sabbath mustguard the gates,	4 Voi pertanto farete così:
5 a third the royal palace, a third the Foundation Gate, while the people must al stay in the courts of theTemple of Yahweh.	5 La terza parte di voi sacerdoti, e Leviti, e portinaj, che venite il sabato, starà alle porte: un altro terzo alla casa del re: e un altro alla porta, che dicesi del Fondamento: il rimanente poi del popolo stia ne' portici della casa del Signore.
6 No one must enter the Temple of Yahweh except the priests and the ministering Levites; they maycome in because they are consecrated. But the people must al observe Yahweh's regulations.	6 E nissun altro entrerà nella casa del Signore, fuori de' sacerdoti, e de' Leviti, che sono in funzione: eglino soli entreranno, perchè sono santificati: e tutto il resto della gente stia di sentinella dinanzi al Signore.
7 The Levites must surround the king, each man with his weapons in his hands; anyone who enters theTemple must be kil ed. And you wil escort the king when he comes in and when he leaves.'	7 I Leviti poi attornieranno il re tutti armati; e se alcun altro entrerà nel tempio, sia messo a morte. Ed eglino stian col re dovunque vada, o venga.
8 The Levites and al Judah did everything as Jehoiada the priest had ordered, and each one broughthis men, those coming on duty on the Sabbath and those going off duty on the Sabbath, for Jehoiada the priesthad not released any of the divisions from duty.	8 I Leviti adunque, e tutto Giuda eseguirono puntualmente gli ordini di Joiada Pontefice. Ciascuno prese la gente, che avea sotto di se, e quei, che venivano al loro turno per fare la settimana, e quelli, che avean compita la settimana, e doveano uscire: perocché il Pontefice Joiada non avea permesso, che se n' andasser le schiere, le quali lasciavano il luogo alle altre alla fin della settimana.
9 Jehoiada the priest then issued the regimental commanders with King David's spears and large andsmal shields, which were kept in the Temple of God.	9 E Joiada Sacerdote diede ai centurioni le lance, e gli scudi, e le targhe del re David offerte da lui alla casa del Signore.
10 He then positioned al the people, each man with his weapon in his hand, from the south side of theTemple to the north side of the Temple, close to the altar and the Temple, to form a circle round the king.	10 E tutta la gente armata di spada la collocò dalla parte destra del tempio, sino al lato sinistro del tempio dinanzi all'altare, e al tempio attorno al re.
11 Then they brought the king's son out, crowned him, gave him a copy of the covenant and made himking. When Jehoiada and his sons had anointed him, they shouted, 'Long live the king!'	11 E condusser ruota il figliuolo del re, e gli cinsero il diadema, e il testimonio, e gli posero in mano il libro della legge, e lo dichiararono re. E Joiada pontefice co' suoi figliuoli lo unse: egli fecero buoni augurj, e dissero: Viva il re.
12 On hearing the people shouting as they ran to acclaim the king, Athaliah joined the people in theTemple of Yahweh.	12 Ma avendo udito Athalia il rumore del popolo, che concorreva, e celebrava il re, si presentò al popolo nel tempio del Signore.
13 When she looked, there stood the king on his dais by the entrance, with the officers and trumpetersat the king's side, and all the people of the country rejoicing and blowing the trumpets, and the singers with theirmusical instruments leading the hymns of praise. Then Athaliah tore her clothes and shouted, 'Treason, treason!'	13 E avendo veduto all'ingresso il re, che stava in luogo rilevatole i principi, e le schiere dintorno a lui, e tutto quanto il popolo in festa, che sonava le trombe, e altri varj strumenti, e udite le voci di que', che cantavan le lodi di lui, straccio le sue vesti, e disse: Congiura, congiura.
14 Jehoiada the priest then gave the order to the regimental commanders in charge of the troops, 'Takeher out between the ranks and put to the sword anyone who follows her.' For the priest had already said, 'Do notkil her inside the Temple of Yahweh.'	14 Ma Joiada Pontefice appressatosi centurioni, e ai capi dell esercito, disse: Menatela fuora del recinto del tempio, e là fuora uccidetela di spada: ma il sommo Sacerdote raccomandò, che non la uccidessero nella casa del Signore.
15 So they made way for her, and when she reached the entrance to the Horses' Gate of the palace,they kil ed her there.	15 E quelli le misero le mani sul collo: e quando ella fu entrata nella porta dei cavalli della casa reale, ivi la uccisero.
16 Jehoiada made a covenant between himself, al the people and the king to remain Yahweh's people.	16 E Joiada strinse un patto tra se, e il popolo tutto, e il re, ch'ei sarebber popolo del Signore.
17 Al the people then went to the temple of Baal and demolished it; they smashed its altars and itsimages and kil ed Mattan the priest of Baal in front of the altars.	17 Quindi tutto il popolo entrò nella casa di Baal: e la distrussero: e fecero in pezzi i suoi altari, e i suoi simulacri: e uccisero ancora dinanzi agli altari Mathan sacerdote di Baal.
18 Jehoiada entrusted the security of the Temple of Yahweh to the priests and Levites, whom David hadput in charge of the Temple of Yahweh to present the burnt offerings of Yahweh as laid down in the Law ofMoses, with joy and song as ordained by David.	18 E Joiada creò dei prefetti della casa del Signore subordinati ai sacerdoti, e ai Leviti, i quali erano stati distribuiti da Davidde pel servigio della casa del Signore, affinchè si offerissero al Signore gli olocausti, come sta scritto nella legge di Mosè, con cantici di allegrezza, secondo la disposizione fatta da Davidde.
19 He also appointed gatekeepers for the gates of the Temple of Yahweh, so that no one who wasunclean might enter for any purpose at al .	19 Mise ancora de' portinai alle porte della casa del Signore, affinchè nissuno vi entrasse, che avesse qualsisia immondezza.
20 He then took the regimental commanders, the nobles, the government officials and al the people ofthe land and he escorted the king down from the Temple of Yahweh. Entering the palace through the UpperGate, they placed the king on the royal throne.	20 E prese seco i centurioni, e gli uomini di valore, e i capi del popolo, e tutta la gente del paese, e fecero scendere il re dalla casa del Signore, ed entrar nella casa reale per la porta superiore, e lo collocarono sul trono regio.
21 Al the people of the land were delighted, and the city made no move after Athaliah had been put todeath.	21 E tutto il popolo del paese ne fece festa, e la citta stette in pace; e Athalia perì di spada.
