NEW JERUSALEM	BIBBIA TINTORI
1 In the seventh year Jehoiada decided to take action and made a pact with the regimentalcommanders, Azariah son of Jeroham, Ishmael son of Jehohanan, Azariah son of Obed, Maaseiah son ofAdaiah and Elishaphat son of Zichri.	1 Il settimo anno, Ioiada, fattosi animo, prese i centurioni: Azaria figlio di Ieroham, Ismael, figlio di Iohanan, Azaria figlio di O'bed, Maasia figlio di Adaia, Elisafat figlio di Zecri, e fece lega con essi.
2 These went al over Judah, gathering the Levites from al the towns of Judah, and the heads of theIsraelite families, who then came to Jerusalem,	2 Questi, fatto il giro del paese di Giuda, radunarono da tutte le città di Giuda i leviti e i principi delle famiglie d'Israele, e vennero in Gerusalemme.
3 and the whole assembly made a pact with the king in the Temple of God. Jehoiada said to them,'Look, the king's son is now to be king, as Yahweh has promised of the sons of David!	3 Tutta questa moltitudine strinse lega col re nella casa di Dio, e Ioiada disse loro: « Ecco, il fi­glio del re regnerà, come il Signore ha detto dei figli di David.
4 This is what you must do: a third of you priests and Levites who come on duty on the Sabbath mustguard the gates,	4 Or dunque ecco quanto dovete fare:
5 a third the royal palace, a third the Foundation Gate, while the people must al stay in the courts of theTemple of Yahweh.	5 la terza parte di voi sacerdoti, leviti e portinai, che venite al sabato, starà alle porte, un'altra terza parte alla casa del re, e l'altra terza parte alla porta che si chiama del Fondamento: tutto il rimanente del popolo starà nei cortili della casa del Signore.
6 No one must enter the Temple of Yahweh except the priests and the ministering Levites; they maycome in because they are consecrated. But the people must al observe Yahweh's regulations.	6 Nessun altro entri nella casa del Signore, eccetto i sacerdoti e, tra i leviti, quelli in funzione: essi soli entrino, perchè son santificati: il resto della gente stia agli ordini del Signore.
7 The Levites must surround the king, each man with his weapons in his hands; anyone who enters theTemple must be kil ed. And you wil escort the king when he comes in and when he leaves.'	7 Poi i leviti circonderanno il re avendo ciascuno le proprie armi, e se alcuno entrerà, sia messo a morte. Essi starati col re quando entra e quando esce ».
8 The Levites and al Judah did everything as Jehoiada the priest had ordered, and each one broughthis men, those coming on duty on the Sabbath and those going off duty on the Sabbath, for Jehoiada the priesthad not released any of the divisions from duty.	8 Allora i leviti e tutto Giuda fecero in tutto quello che Ioiada aveva comandato, e ciascuno prese gli uomini che aveva sotto di se, tanto quelli che, seconde l'ordine, entravano il sabato, quanto quelli che, finito il sabato, dovevano uscire; perchè il pontefice Ioiada non aveva lasciato andar via le compagnie che ogni settimana solevano darsi il cambio.
9 Jehoiada the priest then issued the regimental commanders with King David's spears and large andsmal shields, which were kept in the Temple of God.	9 Il sacerdote Ioiada diede ai centurioni le lance e i grandi e i piccoli scudi del re David, che il re aveva consacrati nella casa del Signore.
10 He then positioned al the people, each man with his weapon in his hand, from the south side of theTemple to the north side of the Temple, close to the altar and the Temple, to form a circle round the king.	10 La gente armata di spada la pose tutta dal lato destro del tempio fino al lato sinistro di esso, davanti all'altare ed al tempio, attorno al re.
11 Then they brought the king's son out, crowned him, gave him a copy of the covenant and made himking. When Jehoiada and his sons had anointed him, they shouted, 'Long live the king!'	11 Portato fuori il figlio del re, posero sopra di lui il diadema e il testimonio, cioè gli diedero in mano, perchè la tenesse, la legge, e lo costituirono re, ungendolo il pontefice Ioiada coi suoi figli. Poi, fattigli i buoni auguri, gridarono: « Viva il re ».
12 On hearing the people shouting as they ran to acclaim the king, Athaliah joined the people in theTemple of Yahweh.	12 Or quando Atalia sentì il rumore di coloro che accorrevano ad acclamare il re, si spinse tra il popolo nel tempio del Signore.
13 When she looked, there stood the king on his dais by the entrance, with the officers and trumpetersat the king's side, and all the people of the country rejoicing and blowing the trumpets, and the singers with theirmusical instruments leading the hymns of praise. Then Athaliah tore her clothes and shouted, 'Treason, treason!'	13 Appena ebbe veduto il re, che stava in piedi su di una predella nell'atrio, attorniato dai principi, dalle schiere e da tutto il popolo del paese che si rallegrava, sonava le trombe e faceva risonare vari altri strumenti, appena ebbe udite le voci di coloro che acclamavano il re, stracciò le sue vesti, gridando: « Congiura, congiura ».
14 Jehoiada the priest then gave the order to the regimental commanders in charge of the troops, 'Takeher out between the ranks and put to the sword anyone who follows her.' For the priest had already said, 'Do notkil her inside the Temple of Yahweh.'	14 Ma il pontefice Ioiada, accostatosi ai centurioni e ai capi dell'esercito, disse: « Trascinatela fuori del recinto del tempio, e là fuori sia uccisa colla spada ». Avendo il sommo sacerdote ordinato che non fosse uccisa nella casa del Signore,
15 So they made way for her, and when she reached the entrance to the Horses' Gate of the palace,they kil ed her there.	15 essi le misero le mani sul collo, e quan­do essa fu entrata nella porta dei cavalli della casa reale, ve la uccisero.
16 Jehoiada made a covenant between himself, al the people and the king to remain Yahweh's people.	16 Poi Ioiada fece il patto fra sè, tutto il popolo e il re, che sarebbero popolo del Signore;
17 Al the people then went to the temple of Baal and demolished it; they smashed its altars and itsimages and kil ed Mattan the priest of Baal in front of the altars.	17 e tutto il popolo, entrato nel tempio di Baal, lo distrusse, ne fece in pezzi gli altari e i simulacri, e, dinanzi agli altari, uccise pure Matan sacerdote di Baal.
18 Jehoiada entrusted the security of the Temple of Yahweh to the priests and Levites, whom David hadput in charge of the Temple of Yahweh to present the burnt offerings of Yahweh as laid down in the Law ofMoses, with joy and song as ordained by David.	18 Inoltre Ioiada costituì nella casa del Si­gnore dei prefetti alle dipendenze dei sacerdoti e dei leviti, i qua­li erano stati distribuiti in classi da David nella casa del Signore, affinchè offrissero al Signore olocausti, come sta scritto nella legge di Mosè, con gioia e con canti, secondo le disposizioni di David.
19 He also appointed gatekeepers for the gates of the Temple of Yahweh, so that no one who wasunclean might enter for any purpose at al .	19 Pose pure dei portinai alle porte delle case del Signore, affinchè non v'entrasse nessuno che, per qualsiasi ragione, fosse immondo.
20 He then took the regimental commanders, the nobles, the government officials and al the people ofthe land and he escorted the king down from the Temple of Yahweh. Entering the palace through the UpperGate, they placed the king on the royal throne.	20 Presi poi con sè i centurioni, gli uomini di valore, i capi del popolo e tutta la gente del paese, fece scendere il re dalla casa del Signore, e lo fe' entrare nella casa reale per la porta superiore, e lo fecero sedere sul trono reale.
21 Al the people of the land were delighted, and the city made no move after Athaliah had been put todeath.	21 Tutto il popolo del paese ne fece festa, e la città rimase tranquilla quando Atalia fu uccisa di spada.
