1 Chronicles 17

NEW JERUSALEM	LA SACRA BIBBIA
1 It happened, once David had settled into his palace, that David said to the prophet Nathan, 'Here am Iliving in a cedar-wood palace, while the ark of the covenant of Yahweh is under awnings.'	1 Quando Davide si stabilì nella sua casa, disse al profeta Natan: "Ecco, io dimoro in una casa di cedro, mentre l'arca dell'alleanza del Signore si trova sotto una tenda".
2 Nathan said to David, 'Do whatever you have in mind, for God is with you.'	2 Natan rispose a Davide: "Fa' quanto hai intenzione di fare, perché Dio è con te".
3 But that very night the word of God came to Nathan, as fol ows:	3 Ma in quella stessa notte la parola di Dio fu rivolta a Natan in questi termini:
4 'Go and tell my servant David, "Yahweh says this: You must not build a temple for me to live in.	4 "Va' a dire a Davide, mio servo: "Così parla il Signore: Non sarai tu a costruirmi la casa in cui abitare.
5 I have never lived in a house from the day when I brought Israel out until today, but have kepttravel ing from tent to tent and from shelter to shelter.	5 Difatti non ho mai abitato in una casa dal giorno in cui feci uscire Israele dall'Egitto fino ad oggi; passai da una tenda a un'altra, da una dimora all'altra.
6 In al my travels with al Israel, did I say to any of the judges of Israel, whom I had commanded toshepherd my people: Why do you not build me a cedar-wood temple?	6 Per tutto il tempo in cui ho peregrinato insieme a tutto Israele, ho forse detto a qualcuno dei giudici d'Israele, cui avevo ordinato di pascere il mio popolo: Perché non mi costruite una casa di cedro?"
7 This is what you must say to my servant David: Yahweh Sabaoth says this: I took you from thepasture, from following the sheep, to be leader of my people Israel.	7 Ora così dirai al mio servo Davide: "Così dice il Signore degli eserciti: Io ti ho preso dal pascolo, dietro al gregge, per costituirti principe sul mio popolo d'Israele.
8 I have been with you wherever you went; I have got rid of al your enemies for you. I am going to makeyour fame like that of the greatest men on earth.	8 Sono stato con te in tutte le tue imprese, ho sterminato davanti al tuo cospetto tutti i tuoi nemici; ti farò un nome come quello dei grandi che sono sulla terra.
9 I am going to provide a place for my people Israel; I shal plant them there and there they will live andnever be disturbed again; nor wil they be oppressed by the wicked as they were in former times	9 Troverò un posto per il mio popolo d'Israele, ivi lo pianterò e vi dimorerà senza che sia più disperso e i malvagi continuino a molestarlo come per il passato,
10 ever since I instituted judges to govern my people Israel; I shall subdue al your enemies. Yahwehmoreover tel s you that he wil build you a dynasty.	10 da quando ho stabilito i giudici sul mio popolo d'Israele. Umilierò tutti i tuoi nemici, mentre renderò grande te. Infatti il Signore ti costruirà una casa.
11 And when your days are over and you have gone to join your ancestors, I shall appoint your heir --who wil be one of your sons -- to succeed you, and I shall make his sovereignty secure.	11 Quando si compiranno i tuoi giorni, sì che tu vada a raggiungere i tuoi padri, stabilirò dopo di te un tuo discendente, uno dei tuoi figli, e consoliderò il suo regno.
12 He wil build a temple for me and I shal make his throne secure for ever.	12 Costui mi costruirà una casa, mentre io renderò saldo il suo trono per sempre.
13 I shal be his father and he wil be my son, and I shal not withdraw my favour from him, as I withdrewit from your predecessor.	13 Io sarò per lui un padre ed egli sarà per me un figlio; non ritirerò da lui il mio favore come l'ho rimosso dal tuo predecessore.
14 I shal set him over my temple and kingdom for ever and his throne wil be for ever secure." '	14 Lo farò stare per sempre nella mia casa, nel mio regno, e il suo trono sarà stabile per sempre".
15 Nathan related al these words and this whole revelation to David.	15 Natan parlò a Davide secondo tutte queste parole e secondo tutta questa visione.
16 King David then went in, sat down in Yahweh's presence and said: 'Who am I, Yahweh God, andwhat is my lineage, that you have led me as far as this?	16 Allora il re Davide venne a porsi davanti al Signore e disse: "Chi sono io, o Signore Dio, e che cosa è la mia casa, perché tu mi abbia condotto fino qui?
17 Yet, to you, O God, this seemed too little, and now you extend your promises for your servant'sfamily into the distant future, making me see as it were a whole succession of men, and it is Yahweh Godhimself who raises it up.	17 Eppure ciò è apparso poco ai tuoi occhi, o Dio, e ora tu fai promesse alla casa del tuo servitore per il futuro e mi hai considerato come si considera un uomo di alto rango, o Signore Dio!
18 What more can David reply to you for the honour you have given to your servant? You yourself havesingled out your servant.	18 Che cosa potrebbe ancora aggiungere Davide alla tua gloria? Tu conosci il tuo servitore.
19 For your servant, and since you were so inclined, you have had the generosity to reveal al thisgreatness to come.	19 Signore, a causa del tuo servitore e secondo il tuo cuore, hai compiuto quest'opera straordinaria per far conoscere tutte le tue grandezze!
20 Yahweh, there is no one like you, no God but you alone, as everything that we have heard confirms.	20 Signore, non c'è nessuno simile a te e all'infuori di te non esiste Dio, in base a tutto ciò che abbiamo udito con le nostre orecchie.
21 Is there another people on earth like your people Israel, whom a god has proceeded to redeem, tomake them his people and to make them famous and do for them great and terrible deeds, by driving out nationsbefore your people, whom you redeemed from Egypt? -	21 C'è sulla terra un solo popolo come il tuo popolo d'Israele, che Dio sia andato a redimere per farne il suo popolo e acquistarsi un nome grande e tremendo? Tu hai scacciato le nazioni davanti al tuo popolo che hai redento dall'Egitto.
22 for you made your people Israel your own people for ever and you, Yahweh, became their God.	22 Hai deciso che il tuo popolo d'Israele fosse il tuo popolo per sempre e tu, Signore, sei stato per loro un Dio.
23 'Now, Yahweh, may the promise which you have made for your servant and as regards his familyhold good for ever, and do as you have said.	23 Ed ora, o Signore, la parola che hai pronunciato sul tuo servitore, e sulla sua famiglia rimanga salda per sempre! Fa' come hai detto!
24 May it hold good, so your name wil be exalted for ever and people wil say, "Israel's God is YahwehSabaoth; he is God for Israel." Your servant David's dynasty will be secure before you	24 Sia saldo e diventi grande il tuo nome per sempre, onde si possa dire: "Il Signore degli eserciti è Dio per Israele e la casa di Davide, tuo servitore, sarà stabile davanti a te".
25 since you, my God, have disclosed to your servant that you are going to build him a dynasty. Hence,your servant has ventured to offer this prayer to you.	25 Sì, tu, o mio Dio, hai fatto una rivelazione al tuo servitore, che gli avresti costruito una casa; per questo il tuo servitore ha trovato il coraggio di pregare al tuo cospetto.
26 Yes, Yahweh, you are God indeed, and you have made this generous promise to your servant.	26 Ora tu, o Signore, sei Dio e hai promesso questo bene al tuo servitore.
27 What is more, you have deigned to bless your servant's dynasty, so that it may remain for everbefore you; and since you, Yahweh, have blessed it, blessed will it be for ever.'	27 Pertanto ti sei compiaciuto di benedire la casa del tuo servitore, perché sussista per sempre al tuo cospetto, perché, Signore, quanto tu benedici, sarà benedetto in eterno".
