1 Chronicles 13

1 David conferred with the commanders of the thousands and the hundreds, in fact with al the leaders.	1 Iniit autem consilium David cum tribunis, et centurionibus, et universis principibus,
2 Then, to the whole assembly of Israel, David said, 'If this has your approval, and if Yahweh our Godwil s it so, we shal send messengers to the rest of our brothers throughout the territories of Israel, and also tothe priests and Levites in their towns and pasture lands, bidding them join us.	2 et ait ad omnem cœtum Israël : Si placet vobis, et a Domino Deo nostro egreditur sermo quem loquor, mittamus ad fratres nostros reliquos in universas regiones Israël, et ad sacerdotes et Levitas qui habitant in suburbanis urbium, ut congregentur ad nos,
3 And then we will go and recover the ark of our God, for in the days of Saul we neglected to do it.'	3 et reducamus arcam Dei nostri ad nos : non enim requisivimus eam in diebus Saul.
4 The whole assembly agreed to this, because al the people thought that this was the right thing to do.	4 Et respondit universa multitudo ut ita fieret : placuerat enim sermo omni populo.
5 So David summoned al Israel from the Shihor of Egypt to the Pass of Hamath, to bring the ark of Godfrom Kiriath-Jearim.	5 Congregavit ergo David cunctum Israël, a Sihor Ægypti usque dum ingrediaris Emath, ut adduceret arcam Dei de Cariathiarim.
6 David and al Israel then went up to Baalah, to Kiriath-Jearim in Judah, from there to bring up the arkof God, which bears the title 'Yahweh enthroned on the winged creatures'.	6 Et ascendit David, et omnis vir Israël, ad collem Cariathiarim, qui est in Juda, ut afferret inde arcam Domini Dei sedentis super cherubim, ubi invocatum est nomen ejus.
7 They transported the ark of God out of Abinadab's house on a new cart. Uzzah and Ahio drove thecart.	7 Imposueruntque arcam Dei super plaustrum novum, de domo Abinadab : Oza autem, et frater ejus minabant plaustrum.
8 David and al Israel danced before God with al their might, singing to the accompaniment of harps,lyres, tambourines, cymbals and trumpets.	8 Porro David, et universus Israël, ludebant coram Deo omni virtute in canticis, et in citharis, et psalteriis, et tympanis, et cymbalis, et tubis.
9 When they came to the threshing-floor of the Javelin, Uzzah reached out his hand to steady the ark,as the oxen were making it tilt.	9 Cum autem pervenisset ad aream Chidon, tetendit Oza manum suam, ut sustentaret arcam : bos quippe lasciviens paululum inclinaverat eam.
10 This roused Yahweh's anger against Uzzah, and he struck him down because he had laid his handon the Ark, and there he died before God.	10 Iratus est itaque Dominus contra Ozam, et percussit eum, eo quod tetigisset arcam : et mortuus est ibi coram Domino.
11 David resented Yahweh's having broken out against Uzzah, and the place was given the namePerez-Uzzah, which it stil has today.	11 Contristatusque est David, eo quod divisisset Dominus Ozam : vocavitque locum illum Divisio Ozæ, usque in præsentem diem.
12 That day David felt afraid of God. 'How can I bring the ark of God to be with me?' he said.	12 Et timuit Deum tunc temporis, dicens : Quomodo possum ad me introducere arcam Dei ?
13 So David did not take the ark with him into the City of David but had it put in the house of Obed-Edom of Gath.	13 et ob hanc causam non adduxit eam ad se, hoc est, in civitatem David, sed avertit in domum Obededom Gethæi.
14 The ark of God remained with Obed-Edom, in his house, for three months, and Yahweh blessedObed-Edom's family and everything that belonged to him.	14 Mansit ergo arca Dei in domo Obededom tribus mensibus : et benedixit Dominus domui ejus, et omnibus quæ habebat.
