1 David conferred with the commanders of the thousands and the hundreds, in fact with al the leaders.	1 David tenne consiglio coi tri­buni, coi centurioni e con tutti i principi,
2 Then, to the whole assembly of Israel, David said, 'If this has your approval, and if Yahweh our Godwil s it so, we shal send messengers to the rest of our brothers throughout the territories of Israel, and also tothe priests and Levites in their towns and pasture lands, bidding them join us.	2 e disse a tutta radunanza d'Israele: « Se vi piace, e se quello che proporrò viene dal Signore Dio nostro, mandiamo a dire a tutti gli altri nostri fratelli, in tutte le regioni d'Israele, e ai sacerdoti e ai leviti che abitano nei sobborghi delle città, di radunarsi presso di noi,
3 And then we will go and recover the ark of our God, for in the days of Saul we neglected to do it.'	3 per ricondurre qui da noi l'arca del nostro Dio, della quale non ci siamo occupati ai tempi di Saul ».
4 The whole assembly agreed to this, because al the people thought that this was the right thing to do.	4 Tutta la moltitudine rispose che si facesse così, perchè la cosa piaceva a tutto il popolo.
5 So David summoned al Israel from the Shihor of Egypt to the Pass of Hamath, to bring the ark of Godfrom Kiriath-Jearim.	5 Allora David radunò tutto Israele, da Sihor d'Egitto fino all'entrata di Emat, per ricondurre l'arca, di Dio da Cariatiarim.
6 David and al Israel then went up to Baalah, to Kiriath-Jearim in Judah, from there to bring up the arkof God, which bears the title 'Yahweh enthroned on the winged creatures'.	6 Poi David salì con tutti gli uomini d'Israele verso il colle di Cariatiarim, che è nella tribù di Giuda, per trasferire di là l'arca del Signore Dio che siede sopra i cherubini, dov'è invocato il suo nome.
7 They transported the ark of God out of Abinadab's house on a new cart. Uzzah and Ahio drove thecart.	7 Posta l'arca di Dio sopra un carro nuovo, la tolsero dalla casa di Abinadab, e Oza e suo fratello guidavano il carro.
8 David and al Israel danced before God with al their might, singing to the accompaniment of harps,lyres, tambourines, cymbals and trumpets.	8 David e tutto Israele con tutte le loro forze danzavan dinanzi al Signore con canti, cetre, salteri, tamburi, cembali e trombe.
9 When they came to the threshing-floor of the Javelin, Uzzah reached out his hand to steady the ark,as the oxen were making it tilt.	9 Or quando furon giunti all'aia di Chidon, Oza stese la mano per sostenere l'arca; perchè un bue, ricalcitrando, l'aveva fatta piegare un poco.
10 This roused Yahweh's anger against Uzzah, and he struck him down because he had laid his handon the Ark, and there he died before God.	10 Ma il Si­gnore, adiratosi contro Oza, lo percosse per aver toccata l'arca, ed egli morì dinanzi al Signore.
11 David resented Yahweh's having broken out against Uzzah, and the place was given the namePerez-Uzzah, which it stil has today.	11 David si afflisse, perchè il Si­gnore aveva separato Oza, e chiamò quel luogo separazione d'Oza. Tal nome dura fino al presente.
12 That day David felt afraid of God. 'How can I bring the ark of God to be with me?' he said.	12 David in quel giorno ebbe paura di Dio e disse: « Come potrò portare a casa mial'Arca di Dio?»
13 So David did not take the ark with him into the City of David but had it put in the house of Obed-Edom of Gath.	13 Per questo motivo non la fece portare presso di sè, cioè nella città di David, ma la fece condurre nella casa di Obededom di Get.
14 The ark of God remained with Obed-Edom, in his house, for three months, and Yahweh blessedObed-Edom's family and everything that belonged to him.	14 Così l'arca di Dio dimorò per tre mesi in casa di Obededom, e il Signore benedisse la casa di lui e tutto ciò che possedeva.
