1 David conferred with the commanders of the thousands and the hundreds, in fact with al the leaders.	1 David tint conseil avec les chefs des milliers et des centaines, et avec tous les commandants.
2 Then, to the whole assembly of Israel, David said, 'If this has your approval, and if Yahweh our Godwil s it so, we shal send messengers to the rest of our brothers throughout the territories of Israel, and also tothe priests and Levites in their towns and pasture lands, bidding them join us.	2 David dit à toute l’assemblée d’Israël: “Si vous acceptez, et si Yahvé notre Dieu le veut, nous enverrons des messagers vers nos frères à travers tous les territoires d’Israël, ainsi que vers les prêtres et les lévites dans leurs villes et leurs environs pour leur dire de venir nous rejoindre.
3 And then we will go and recover the ark of our God, for in the days of Saul we neglected to do it.'	3 Nous irons alors chercher l’Arche de notre Dieu, car du temps de Saül nous l’avons négligée.
4 The whole assembly agreed to this, because al the people thought that this was the right thing to do.	4 Ils furent d’accord avec cette proposition, car aux yeux de tout le peuple, cela paraissait juste.
5 So David summoned al Israel from the Shihor of Egypt to the Pass of Hamath, to bring the ark of Godfrom Kiriath-Jearim.	5 Aussi David rassembla-t-il tout le peuple depuis le Chihor d’Égypte jusqu’à l’Entrée-de-Hamat pour ramener l’Arche de Kiryat-Yéarim.
6 David and al Israel then went up to Baalah, to Kiriath-Jearim in Judah, from there to bring up the arkof God, which bears the title 'Yahweh enthroned on the winged creatures'.	6 Alors David et les Israélites montèrent à Baala, c’est-à-dire Kiryat-Yéarim dans le pays de Juda, pour apporter l’Arche de Dieu qui porte le nom de “Yahvé assis sur les Chérubins.”
7 They transported the ark of God out of Abinadab's house on a new cart. Uzzah and Ahio drove thecart.	7 À la maison d’Abinadab, ils placèrent l’Arche de Dieu sur un chariot neuf. Ouza et Ahyo conduisaient le chariot.
8 David and al Israel danced before God with al their might, singing to the accompaniment of harps,lyres, tambourines, cymbals and trumpets.	8 David et les Israélites dansaient devant Dieu de toutes leurs forces, ils chantaient en s’accompagnant de lyres, harpes, tambourins, cymbales et trompettes.
9 When they came to the threshing-floor of the Javelin, Uzzah reached out his hand to steady the ark,as the oxen were making it tilt.	9 Quand ils arrivèrent à l’aire de Kidon, les bœufs trébuchèrent et Ouza étendit la main pour retenir l’Arche.
10 This roused Yahweh's anger against Uzzah, and he struck him down because he had laid his handon the Ark, and there he died before God.	10 Alors la colère de Yahvé éclata contre Ouza et il le fit mourir, car il avait étendu la main et touché l’Arche. Il mourut là devant Dieu.
11 David resented Yahweh's having broken out against Uzzah, and the place was given the namePerez-Uzzah, which it stil has today.	11 David fut contrarié de voir que Yahvé avait “brisé” Ouza; aussi donna-t-on à ce lieu le nom de Pérez-Ouza qu’il a gardé jusqu’à ce jour.
12 That day David felt afraid of God. 'How can I bring the ark of God to be with me?' he said.	12 Ce jour-là David fut rempli de la crainte de Dieu, il dit: “Je ne vais sûrement pas introduire l’Arche de Dieu dans ma maison!”
13 So David did not take the ark with him into the City of David but had it put in the house of Obed-Edom of Gath.	13 David ne fit donc pas entrer l’Arche dans sa maison, dans la Cité de David; il la conduisit chez Obed-Édom de Gat.
14 The ark of God remained with Obed-Edom, in his house, for three months, and Yahweh blessedObed-Edom's family and everything that belonged to him.	14 L’Arche de Dieu demeura chez Obed-Édom, dans sa maison, pendant trois mois: Yahvé bénit la famille d’Obed-Édom et tout ce qui lui appartenait.
