1 David again mustered al the picked troops of Israel, thirty thousand men.	1 David, radunati di nuovo gli uomini scelti d'Israele in numero di trenta mila,
2 Setting off with the whole force then with him, David went to Baalah of Judah, from there to bring up theark of God, who bears the title 'Yahweh Sabaoth, enthroned on the winged creatures'.	2 Si mosse e andò con tutta la gente che era con lui, della tribù di Giuda, per trasportare l'arca di Dio, sulla quale è invocato il nome del Signore degli eserciti, che, sopra di essa, siede tra i cherubini.
3 They transported the ark of God on a new cart and brought it out of Abinadab's house which is on thehil . Uzzah and Ahio, the sons of Abinadab, drove the cart,	3 Posta l'arca di Dio sopra un carro nuovo, la portaron via dalla casa di Abinadab, che era in Gabaa. Oza ed Ahio, figli di Abinadab, conducevano il carro nuovo.
4 Uzzah walked alongside the ark of God and Ahio went in front.	4 La portaron dunque via dalla casa di Abinadab, che era in Gabaa, e custodendo l'arca di Dio, Ahio andava innanzi all'arca.
5 David and the whole House of Israel danced before Yahweh with al their might, singing to theaccompaniment of harps, lyres, tambourines, sistrums and cymbals.	5 David e tutto Israele danzavano sonando dinanzi al Signore ogni specie di strumenti di legno, e cetre, lire, timpani, sistri e cembali.
6 When they came to Nacon's threshing-floor, Uzzah reached his hand out to the ark of God andsteadied it, as the oxen were making it tilt.	6 Or quando giunsero all'aia di Nacon, Oza stese la mano all'arca di Dio, e la resse, perchè i buoi, ricalcitrando, l'avevano fatta piegare.
7 This roused Yahweh's anger against Uzzah, and for this crime God struck him down on the spot, andthere he died beside the ark of God.	7 Ma il Signore arse di sdegno contro Oza, e lo percosse per la sua temerità, e Oza morì lì presso l'arca di Dio.
8 David resented Yahweh's having broken out against Uzzah, and the place was given the name Perez-Uzzah, which it still has today.	8 David si rattristò, perchè il Signore aveva percosso Oza; e quel luogo si chiama sino ad oggi col nome di Castigo di Oza.
9 That day David felt afraid of Yahweh. 'How can the ark of Yahweh come to be with me?' he said.	9 David temè molto il Signore in quel giorno, e disse: « Come può essere che venga presso di me l'arca del Signore? »
10 So David decided not to take the ark of Yahweh with him into the city of David but diverted it to thehouse of Obed-Edom of Gath.	10 E non volle che l'arca del Signore andasse presso di lui nella città di David, ma la fece portare nella casa di Obededom di Get.
11 The ark of Yahweh remained in the house of Obed-Edom of Gath for three months, and Yahwehblessed Obed-Edom and his whole family.	11 L'arca del Signore stette nella casa di Obededom di Get per tre mesi: e il Signore benedisse Obededom e tutta la sua casa.
12 King David was informed that Yahweh had blessed Obed-Edom's family and everything belonging tohim on account of the ark of God. David accordingly went and, amid great rejoicing, brought the ark of God upfrom Obed-Edom's house to the City of David.	12 Avendo David risaputo che il Signore aveva benedetto Obededom e tutte le sue cose a causa dell'arca di Dio, andò e condusse con festa l'arca di Dio dalla casa di Obededom nella città di David. David aveva con sè sette cori e un vitello da immolare,
13 When the bearers of the ark of Yahweh had gone six paces, he sacrificed an ox and a fat sheep.	13 e, come ebbero fatto sei passi quelli che portavano l'arca del Signore, immolò un bue ed un montone.
14 And David danced whirling round before Yahweh with al his might, wearing a linen loincloth.	14 David danzava con tutte le sue forze dinanzi al Signore, ed era cinto di un efod di lino.
15 Thus with war cries and blasts on the horn, David and the entire House of Israel brought up the ark ofYahweh.	15 David e tutta la casa d'Israele conducevano l'arca del testamento del Signore con grida di gioia e suoni di trombe.
16 Now as the ark of Yahweh entered the City of David, Michal daughter of Saul was watching from thewindow and when she saw King David leaping and whirling round before Yahweh, the sight of him fil ed her withcontempt.	16 Entrata che fu l'arca del Signore nella città di David, Micol, figlia di Saul, si mise a guardare dalla finestra, e, vedendo il re David che saltellava e danzava dinanzi al Signore, lo disprezzo in cuor suo.
17 They brought the ark of Yahweh in and put it in position, inside the tent which David had erected for it;and David presented burnt offerings and communion sacrifices in Yahweh's presence.	17 Introdussero adunque l'arca del Signore, e la posero nel suo posto in mezzo al Tabernacolo, che David le aveva alzato. David offerse olocausti e vittime pacifiche dinanzi al Signore;
18 And when David had finished presenting burnt offerings, he blessed the people in the name ofYahweh Sabaoth.	18 e finito che ebbe di offrire gli olocausti e le vittime pacifiche, benedisse il popolo nel nome del Signore degli eserciti.
19 To al the people, to the whole multitude of Israelites, men and women, he then distributed to each aloaf of bread, a portion of dates and a raisin cake. Then the people al went back to their homes.	19 Poi distribuì a tutta la moltitudine d'Israele, tanto agli uomini che alle donne, una torta di pane a testa, un pezzo di carne di bue arrostita, e del fior di farina fritta coll'olio; e tutto il popolo se ne andò ciascuno a casa sua.
20 As David was coming back to bless his household, Michal daughter of Saul came out to meet him.'Much honour the king of Israel has won today,' she said, 'making an exhibition of himself under the eyes of hisservant-maids, making an exhibition of himself like a buffoon!'	20 Or quando David se ne ritornò per benedire la sua casa, Micol figlia di Saul gli uscì incontro e disse: « Com'era pieno di gloria, oggi, il re d'Israele, mentre si scopriva alla presenza delle serve dei suoi servi, e stava spogliato come farebbe un buffone! »
21 David replied to Michal, 'I was dancing for Yahweh, not for them. As Yahweh lives, who chose me inpreference to your father and his whole family to make me leader of Israel, Yahweh's people, I shal dancebefore Yahweh and	21 Ma David rispose a Micol: « Al cospetto del Signore, il quale mi ha eletto a preferenza di tuo padre e di tutta la sua famiglia, e mi ha comandato d'essere capo del popolo del Signore in Israele,
22 lower myself even further than that. In your eyes I may be base, but by the maids you speak of, bythem, I shal be held in honour!'	22 io danzerò e mi avvilirò ancor più di quel che ho fatto, e facendomi abbietto ai miei occhi e dinanzi alle serve di cui tu hai parlato, apparirò più glorioso ».
23 And to the day of her death, Michal, daughter of Saul, had no children.	23 Per questo Micol figlia di Saul non ebbe alcun figlio fino al giorno della sua morte.
