2 Samuel 6

NEW JERUSALEM	JERUSALEM
1 David again mustered al the picked troops of Israel, thirty thousand men.	1 David rassembla encore toute l'élite d'Israël, 30.000 hommes.
2 Setting off with the whole force then with him, David went to Baalah of Judah, from there to bring up theark of God, who bears the title 'Yahweh Sabaoth, enthroned on the winged creatures'.	2 S'étant mis en route, David et toute l'armée qui l'accompagnait partirent pour Baala de Juda, afinde faire monter de là l'arche de Dieu, qui porte le nom de Yahvé Sabaot, siégeant sur les chérubins.
3 They transported the ark of God on a new cart and brought it out of Abinadab's house which is on thehil . Uzzah and Ahio, the sons of Abinadab, drove the cart,	3 On chargea l'arche de Dieu sur un chariot neuf et on l'emporta de la maison d'Abinadab, qui est surla colline. Uzza et Ahyo, les fils d'Abinadab, conduisaient le chariot.
4 Uzzah walked alongside the ark of God and Ahio went in front.	4 Uzza marchait à côté de l'arche de Dieu et Ahyo marchait devant elle.
5 David and the whole House of Israel danced before Yahweh with al their might, singing to theaccompaniment of harps, lyres, tambourines, sistrums and cymbals.	5 David et toute la maison d'Israël dansaient devant Yahvé de toutes leurs forces, en chantant au sondes cithares, des harpes, des tambourins, des sistres et des cymbales.
6 When they came to Nacon's threshing-floor, Uzzah reached his hand out to the ark of God andsteadied it, as the oxen were making it tilt.	6 Comme on arrivait à l'aire de Nakôn, Uzza étendit la main vers l'arche de Dieu et la retint, car lesboeufs la faisaient verser.
7 This roused Yahweh's anger against Uzzah, and for this crime God struck him down on the spot, andthere he died beside the ark of God.	7 Alors la colère de Yahvé s'enflamma contre Uzza: sur place, Dieu le frappa pour cette faute, et ilmourut, là, à côté de l'arche de Dieu.
8 David resented Yahweh's having broken out against Uzzah, and the place was given the name Perez-Uzzah, which it still has today.	8 David fut fâché de ce que Yahvé eût foncé sur Uzza et on donna à ce lieu le nom de Pérèç-Uzza,qu'il a gardé jusqu'à maintenant.
9 That day David felt afraid of Yahweh. 'How can the ark of Yahweh come to be with me?' he said.	9 Ce jour-là, David eut peur de Yahvé et dit: "Comment l'arche de Yahvé entrerait-elle chez moi?"
10 So David decided not to take the ark of Yahweh with him into the city of David but diverted it to thehouse of Obed-Edom of Gath.	10 Ainsi David ne voulut pas conserver l'arche de Yahvé chez lui, dans la Cité de David, et laconduisit chez Obed-Edom de Gat.
11 The ark of Yahweh remained in the house of Obed-Edom of Gath for three months, and Yahwehblessed Obed-Edom and his whole family.	11 L'arche de Yahvé demeura trois mois chez Obed-Edom de Gat, et Yahvé bénit Obed-Edom ettoute sa famille.
12 King David was informed that Yahweh had blessed Obed-Edom's family and everything belonging tohim on account of the ark of God. David accordingly went and, amid great rejoicing, brought the ark of God upfrom Obed-Edom's house to the City of David.	12 On rapporta au roi David que Yahvé avait béni la famille d'Obed-Edom et tout ce qui luiappartenait à cause de l'arche de Dieu. Alors David partit et fit monter l'arche de Dieu de la maison d'Obed-Edom à la Cité de David en grande liesse.
13 When the bearers of the ark of Yahweh had gone six paces, he sacrificed an ox and a fat sheep.	13 Quand les porteurs de l'arche de Yahvé eurent fait six pas, il sacrifia un boeuf et un veau gras.
14 And David danced whirling round before Yahweh with al his might, wearing a linen loincloth.	14 David dansait en tournoyant de toutes ses forces devant Yahvé, il avait ceint un pagne de lin.
15 Thus with war cries and blasts on the horn, David and the entire House of Israel brought up the ark ofYahweh.	15 David et toute la maison d'Israël faisaient monter l'arche de Yahvé en poussant des acclamationset en sonnant du cor.
16 Now as the ark of Yahweh entered the City of David, Michal daughter of Saul was watching from thewindow and when she saw King David leaping and whirling round before Yahweh, the sight of him fil ed her withcontempt.	16 Or, comme l'arche de Yahvé entrait dans la Cité de David, la fille de Saül, Mikal, regardait par lafenêtre, et elle vit le roi David qui sautait et tournoyait devant Yahvé, et, dans son coeur, elle le méprisa.
17 They brought the ark of Yahweh in and put it in position, inside the tent which David had erected for it;and David presented burnt offerings and communion sacrifices in Yahweh's presence.	17 On introduisit l'arche de Yahvé et on la déposa à sa place, sous la tente que David avait faitdresser pour elle, et David offrit des holocaustes en présence de Yahvé, ainsi que des sacrifices de communion.
18 And when David had finished presenting burnt offerings, he blessed the people in the name ofYahweh Sabaoth.	18 Lorsque David eut achevé d'offrir des holocaustes et des sacrifices de communion, il bénit lepeuple au nom de Yahvé Sabaot.
19 To al the people, to the whole multitude of Israelites, men and women, he then distributed to each aloaf of bread, a portion of dates and a raisin cake. Then the people al went back to their homes.	19 Puis il fit une distribution à tout le peuple, à la foule entière des Israélites, hommes et femmes,pour chacun une couronne de pain, une masse de dattes et un gâteau de raisins secs, puis tout le monde s'en allachacun chez soi.
20 As David was coming back to bless his household, Michal daughter of Saul came out to meet him.'Much honour the king of Israel has won today,' she said, 'making an exhibition of himself under the eyes of hisservant-maids, making an exhibition of himself like a buffoon!'	20 Comme David s'en retournait pour bénir sa maisonnée, Mikal, fille de Saül, sortit à sa rencontreet dit: "Comme il s'est fait honneur aujourd'hui, le roi d'Israël, qui s'est découvert aujourd'hui au regard desservantes de ses serviteurs comme se découvrirait un homme de rien!"
21 David replied to Michal, 'I was dancing for Yahweh, not for them. As Yahweh lives, who chose me inpreference to your father and his whole family to make me leader of Israel, Yahweh's people, I shal dancebefore Yahweh and	21 Mais David répondit à Mikal: "C'est devant Yahvé que je danse! Par la vie de Yahvé, qui m'apréféré à ton père et à toute sa maison pour m'instituer chef d'Israël, le peuple de Yahvé, je danserai devantYahvé
22 lower myself even further than that. In your eyes I may be base, but by the maids you speak of, bythem, I shal be held in honour!'	22 et je m'abaisserai encore davantage. Je serai vil à tes yeux, mais auprès des servantes dont tuparles, auprès d'elles je serai en honneur."
23 And to the day of her death, Michal, daughter of Saul, had no children.	23 Et Mikal, fille de Saül, n'eut pas d'enfant jusqu'au jour de sa mort.
