2 Samuel 6

1 David again mustered al the picked troops of Israel, thirty thousand men.	1 ויסף עוד דוד את כל בחור בישראל שלשים אלף
2 Setting off with the whole force then with him, David went to Baalah of Judah, from there to bring up theark of God, who bears the title 'Yahweh Sabaoth, enthroned on the winged creatures'.	2 ויקם וילך דוד וכל העם אשר אתו מבעלי יהודה להעלות משם את ארון האלהים אשר נקרא שם שם יהוה צבאות ישב הכרבים עליו
3 They transported the ark of God on a new cart and brought it out of Abinadab's house which is on thehil . Uzzah and Ahio, the sons of Abinadab, drove the cart,	3 וירכבו את ארון האלהים אל עגלה חדשה וישאהו מבית אבינדב אשר בגבעה ועזא ואחיו בני אבינדב נהגים את העגלה חדשה
4 Uzzah walked alongside the ark of God and Ahio went in front.	4 וישאהו מבית אבינדב אשר בגבעה עם ארון האלהים ואחיו הלך לפני הארון
5 David and the whole House of Israel danced before Yahweh with al their might, singing to theaccompaniment of harps, lyres, tambourines, sistrums and cymbals.	5 ודוד וכל בית ישראל משחקים לפני יהוה בכל עצי ברושים ובכנרות ובנבלים ובתפים ובמנענעים ובצלצלים
6 When they came to Nacon's threshing-floor, Uzzah reached his hand out to the ark of God andsteadied it, as the oxen were making it tilt.	6 ויבאו עד גרן נכון וישלח עזא אל ארון האלהים ויאחז בו כי שמטו הבקר
7 This roused Yahweh's anger against Uzzah, and for this crime God struck him down on the spot, andthere he died beside the ark of God.	7 ויחר אף יהוה בעזה ויכהו שם האלהים על השל וימת שם עם ארון האלהים
8 David resented Yahweh's having broken out against Uzzah, and the place was given the name Perez-Uzzah, which it still has today.	8 ויחר לדוד על אשר פרץ יהוה פרץ בעזה ויקרא למקום ההוא פרץ עזה עד היום הזה
9 That day David felt afraid of Yahweh. 'How can the ark of Yahweh come to be with me?' he said.	9 וירא דוד את יהוה ביום ההוא ויאמר איך יבוא אלי ארון יהוה
10 So David decided not to take the ark of Yahweh with him into the city of David but diverted it to thehouse of Obed-Edom of Gath.	10 ולא אבה דוד להסיר אליו את ארון יהוה על עיר דוד ויטהו דוד בית עבד אדום הגתי
11 The ark of Yahweh remained in the house of Obed-Edom of Gath for three months, and Yahwehblessed Obed-Edom and his whole family.	11 וישב ארון יהוה בית עבד אדם הגתי שלשה חדשים ויברך יהוה את עבד אדם ואת כל ביתו
12 King David was informed that Yahweh had blessed Obed-Edom's family and everything belonging tohim on account of the ark of God. David accordingly went and, amid great rejoicing, brought the ark of God upfrom Obed-Edom's house to the City of David.	12 ויגד למלך דוד לאמר ברך יהוה את בית עבד אדם ואת כל אשר לו בעבור ארון האלהים וילך דוד ויעל את ארון האלהים מבית עבד אדם עיר דוד בשמחה
13 When the bearers of the ark of Yahweh had gone six paces, he sacrificed an ox and a fat sheep.	13 ויהי כי צעדו נשאי ארון יהוה ששה צעדים ויזבח שור ומריא
14 And David danced whirling round before Yahweh with al his might, wearing a linen loincloth.	14 ודוד מכרכר בכל עז לפני יהוה ודוד חגור אפוד בד
15 Thus with war cries and blasts on the horn, David and the entire House of Israel brought up the ark ofYahweh.	15 ודוד וכל בית ישראל מעלים את ארון יהוה בתרועה ובקול שופר
16 Now as the ark of Yahweh entered the City of David, Michal daughter of Saul was watching from thewindow and when she saw King David leaping and whirling round before Yahweh, the sight of him fil ed her withcontempt.	16 והיה ארון יהוה בא עיר דוד ומיכל בת שאול נשקפה בעד החלון ותרא את המלך דוד מפזז ומכרכר לפני יהוה ותבז לו בלבה
17 They brought the ark of Yahweh in and put it in position, inside the tent which David had erected for it;and David presented burnt offerings and communion sacrifices in Yahweh's presence.	17 ויבאו את ארון יהוה ויצגו אתו במקומו בתוך האהל אשר נטה לו דוד ויעל דוד עלות לפני יהוה ושלמים
18 And when David had finished presenting burnt offerings, he blessed the people in the name ofYahweh Sabaoth.	18 ויכל דוד מהעלות העולה והשלמים ויברך את העם בשם יהוה צבאות
19 To al the people, to the whole multitude of Israelites, men and women, he then distributed to each aloaf of bread, a portion of dates and a raisin cake. Then the people al went back to their homes.	19 ויחלק לכל העם לכל המון ישראל למאיש ועד אשה לאיש חלת לחם אחת ואשפר אחד ואשישה אחת וילך כל העם איש לביתו
20 As David was coming back to bless his household, Michal daughter of Saul came out to meet him.'Much honour the king of Israel has won today,' she said, 'making an exhibition of himself under the eyes of hisservant-maids, making an exhibition of himself like a buffoon!'	20 וישב דוד לברך את ביתו ותצא מיכל בת שאול לקראת דוד ותאמר מה נכבד היום מלך ישראל אשר נגלה היום לעיני אמהות עבדיו כהגלות נגלות אחד הרקים
21 David replied to Michal, 'I was dancing for Yahweh, not for them. As Yahweh lives, who chose me inpreference to your father and his whole family to make me leader of Israel, Yahweh's people, I shal dancebefore Yahweh and	21 ויאמר דוד אל מיכל לפני יהוה אשר בחר בי מאביך ומכל ביתו לצות אתי נגיד על עם יהוה על ישראל ושחקתי לפני יהוה
22 lower myself even further than that. In your eyes I may be base, but by the maids you speak of, bythem, I shal be held in honour!'	22 ונקלתי עוד מזאת והייתי שפל בעיני ועם האמהות אשר אמרת עמם אכבדה
23 And to the day of her death, Michal, daughter of Saul, had no children.	23 ולמיכל בת שאול לא היה לה ילד עד יום מותה
