1 Al the tribes of Israel then came to David at Hebron and said, 'Look, we are your own flesh and bone.	1 Toutes les tribus d’Israël se rassemblèrent autour de David à Hébron et lui dirent: “Nous sommes de tes os et de ta chair.
2 In days past when Saul was our king, it was you who led Israel on its campaigns, and to you it was thatYahweh promised, "You are to shepherd my people Israel and be leader of Israel." '	2 Déjà auparavant, lorsque Saül était notre roi, c’est toi qui conduisais Israël. Yahvé t’a bien dit: C’est toi qui seras le pasteur de mon peuple Israël, tu deviendras le chef d’Israël.”
3 So al the elders of Israel came to the king at Hebron, and King David made a pact with them inYahweh's presence at Hebron, and they anointed David as king of Israel.	3 Tous les anciens d’Israël vinrent trouver le roi à Hébron et le roi David conclut une alliance avec eux à Hébron en présence de Yahvé. Après quoi ils consacrèrent David comme roi d’Israël.
4 David was thirty years old when he became king, and he reigned for forty years.	4 David avait 30 ans lorsqu’il devint roi, il régna 40 ans.
5 In Hebron he reigned over Judah for seven years and six months; then he reigned in Jerusalem over allIsrael and Judah for thirty-three years.	5 Il avait régné 7 ans et 6 mois à Hébron sur Juda, et il régna sur tout Israël et Juda durant 33 ans à Jérusalem.
6 The king and his men then marched on Jerusalem, on the Jebusites living in the territory. These said toDavid, 'You wil not get in here. The blind and the lame wil hold you off.' (That is to say: David will never get inhere.)	6 Le roi et ses hommes marchèrent sur Jérusalem pour attaquer les Jébusites qui habitaient alors la contrée. Ceux-ci dirent à David: “Tu n’entreras pas ici, même les aveugles et les boiteux te repousseraient.” Ce qui voulait dire: “David n’entrera pas ici.”
7 But David captured the citadel of Zion, that is, the City of David.	7 Mais David s’empara de la forteresse de Sion: c’est la cité de David.
8 That day, David said, 'Whoever gets up the tunnel and kil s a Jebusite . . .' As for the blind and thelame, David hated them with his whole being. (Hence the saying: the blind and the lame may not enter theTemple.)	8 Ce jour-là en effet, David avait dit: “Quiconque veut battre les Jébusites, qu’il y pénètre par le canal. Ces boiteux et ces aveugles, David les maudit!” C’est pour cela d’ailleurs que l’on dit: “Les aveugles et les boiteux n’entreront pas dans la Maison de Dieu.”
9 David went to live in the citadel and cal ed it the City of David. David then built a wal round it, from theMil o inwards.	9 David s’installa dans la forteresse et l’appela cité de David, puis il construisit tout autour depuis le Millo vers l’intérieur.
10 David grew stronger and stronger, and Yahweh, God of Sabaoth, was with him.	10 David allait sans cesse grandissant, et Yahvé Sabaot était avec lui.
11 Hiram king of Tyre sent envoys to David, with cedar wood, carpenters and stone-cutters, who builtDavid a palace.	11 Le roi de Tyr, Hiram, envoya une mission à David avec du bois de cèdre, des charpentiers et des tailleurs de pierre, et ils construisirent une maison pour David.
12 David then knew that Yahweh had confirmed him as king of Israel and, for the sake of his peopleIsrael, had extended his sovereignty.	12 Alors David comprit que Yahvé l’avait confirmé comme roi sur Israël et qu’il allait rendre son règne glorieux à cause de son peuple Israël.
13 After coming from Hebron, David took other concubines and wives in Jerusalem, and sons anddaughters were born to him.	13 Après que David fut arrivé d’Hébron, il se choisit encore à Jérusalem des concubines et des femmes; il en eut des fils et des filles.
14 These are the names of those born to him in Jerusalem: Shammua, Shobab, Nathan, Solomon,	14 Voici les noms des enfants qu’il eut à Jérusalem: Chammoua, Chobab, Nathan, Salomon,
15 Ibhar, Elishua, Nepheg, Japhia,	15 Yibhar, Élichoua, Néfeg, Yafia,
16 Elishama, Eliada, Eliphelet.	16 Élichama, Baalyada et Élifélèt.
17 When the Philistines heard that David had been anointed as king of Israel, they all went up to seekhim out. On hearing this, David went down to the stronghold.	17 Lorsque les Philistins apprirent que David avait été sacré roi de tout Israël, ils montèrent tous pour s’emparer de lui; David fut averti et il descendit au refuge.
18 When the Philistines arrived, they deployed in the Val ey of the Rephaim.	18 Les Philistins vinrent se déployer dans le vallon des Réphaïm,
19 David consulted Yahweh and asked, 'Shal I attack the Philistines? Wil you deliver them into mypower?' Yahweh replied to David, 'Attack! I shal certainly deliver the Philistines into your power.'	19 et David consulta Yahvé: “Dois-je attaquer les Philistins? Les livreras-tu entre mes mains?” Yahvé répondit à David: “Attaque-les, je livrerai les Philistins entre tes mains.”
20 Accordingly, David went to Baal-Perazim and there David defeated them. He said, 'Yahweh has madea breach in my enemies for me, as though they had been breached by a flood.' This is why the place was giventhe name Baal-Perazim.	20 David avança sur Baal-Pérasim, et là, il les écrasa. “Yahvé, dit-il, a été comme un torrent: il m’a ouvert une brèche dans les lignes ennemies.” C’est pourquoi on appela cet endroit Baal-Pérasim (le Seigneur de la Brèche).
21 They had left their gods behind them there, and David and his men carried them off.	21 Les Philistins laissèrent là leurs idoles, David et ses hommes les emportèrent.
22 Again the Philistines invaded and deployed in the Valley of the Rephaim.	22 Une fois de plus les Philistins montèrent et se déployèrent dans le vallon des Réphaïm,
23 David consulted Yahweh, who replied, 'Do not attack them from the front; go round to their rear andengage them opposite the balsam trees.	23 David consulta Yahvé qui répondit: “Ne les attaque pas de front, prends-les par derrière, passe du côté du bois.
24 When you hear the sound of footsteps in the tops of the balsam trees, advance, for that wil beYahweh going out ahead of you to defeat the Philistine army.'	24 Lorsque tu entendras un bruit de pas au sommet des arbres, dépêche-toi: c’est Yahvé qui sort devant toi pour écraser l’armée des Philistins.”
25 David did as Yahweh had ordered and beat the Philistines from Gibeon to the Pass of Gezer.	25 David fit donc comme Yahvé le lui avait commandé, et il battit les Philistins depuis Gabaon jusqu’à l’entrée de Guézer.
