NEW JERUSALEM	LA SACRA BIBBIA
1 Thus heaven and earth were completed with al their array.	1 Così furono ultimati i cieli e la terra e tutto il loro ornamento.
2 On the seventh day God had completed the work he had been doing. He rested on the seventh dayafter al the work he had been doing.	2 Allora Dio, nel giorno settimo, volle conclusa l'opera che aveva fatto e si astenne, nel giorno settimo, da ogni opera che aveva fatto.
3 God blessed the seventh day and made it holy, because on that day he rested after al his work ofcreating.	3 Quindi Dio benedisse il giorno settimo e lo consacrò, perché in esso aveva cessato da ogni lavoro servile che operando aveva creato.
4 Such was the story of heaven and earth as they were created. At the time when Yahweh God madeearth and heaven	4 Queste sono le origini dei cieli e della terra quando Dio li creò. Quando il Signore Dio fece la terra e il cielo,
5 there was as yet no wild bush on the earth nor had any wild plant yet sprung up, for Yahweh God hadnot sent rain on the earth, nor was there any man to til the soil.	5 ancora nessun cespuglio della steppa vi era sulla terra, né alcuna erba della steppa vi era spuntata, perché il Signore Dio non aveva fatto piovere sulla terra e non vi era l'uomo che lavorasse il terreno
6 Instead, water flowed out of the ground and watered al the surface of the soil.	6 e facesse sgorgare dalla terra un canale e facesse irrigare tutta la superficie del terreno;
7 Yahweh God shaped man from the soil of the ground and blew the breath of life into his nostrils, andman became a living being.	7 allora il Signore Dio modellò l'uomo con la polvere del terreno e soffiò nelle sue narici un alito di vita; così l'uomo divenne un essere vivente.
8 Yahweh God planted a garden in Eden, which is in the east, and there he put the man he hadfashioned.	8 Poi il Signore Dio piantò un giardino in Eden, a oriente, e vi collocò l'uomo che aveva modellato.
9 From the soil, Yahweh God caused to grow every kind of tree, enticing to look at and good to eat, withthe tree of life in the middle of the garden, and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.	9 Il Signore Dio fece spuntare dal terreno ogni sorta d'alberi, attraenti per la vista e buoni da mangiare, e l'albero della vita nella parte più interna del giardino, insieme all'albero della conoscenza del bene e del male.
10 A river flowed from Eden to water the garden, and from there it divided to make four streams.	10 Un fiume usciva da Eden per irrigare il giardino; poi di lì si divideva e diventava quattro corsi.
11 The first is named the Pishon, and this winds al through the land of Havilah where there is gold.	11 Il nome del primo è Pison: esso delimita il confine di tutta la regione di Avila, dove c'è l'oro:
12 The gold of this country is pure; bdel ium and cornelian stone are found there.	12 l'oro di quella terra è fine; ivi c'è il bdellio e la pietra d'onice.
13 The second river is named the Gihon, and this winds all through the land of Cush.	13 E il nome del secondo fiume è Ghicon: esso delimita il confine di tutta la regione di Etiopia.
14 The third river is named the Tigris, and this flows to the east of Ashur. The fourth river is theEuphrates.	14 E il nome del terzo fiume è Tigri: esso scorre a oriente di Assur. E il quarto fiume è l'Eufrate.
15 Yahweh God took the man and settled him in the garden of Eden to cultivate and take care of it.	15 Poi il Signore Dio prese l'uomo e lo pose nel giardino di Eden perché lo lavorasse e lo custodisse.
16 Then Yahweh God gave the man this command, 'You are free to eat of al the trees in the garden.	16 Il Signore Dio diede questo comando all'uomo: "Di tutti gli alberi del giardino tu puoi mangiare;
17 But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you are not to eat; for, the day you eat of that, youare doomed to die.'	17 ma dell'albero della conoscenza del bene e del male non devi mangiarne, perché, nel giorno in cui tu te ne cibassi, dovrai certamente morire".
18 Yahweh God said, 'It is not right that the man should be alone. I shal make him a helper.'	18 Poi il Signore Dio disse: "Non è bene che l'uomo sia solo: gli voglio fare un aiuto a lui corrispondente".
19 So from the soil Yahweh God fashioned al the wild animals and al the birds of heaven. These hebrought to the man to see what he would call them; each one was to bear the name the man would give it.	19 Allora il Signore Dio modellò dal terreno tutte le fiere della steppa e tutti i volatili del cielo e li condusse all'uomo, per vedere come li avrebbe chiamati: in qualunque modo l'uomo avesse chiamato gli esseri viventi, quello doveva essere il loro nome.
20 The man gave names to al the cattle, al the birds of heaven and all the wild animals. But no helpersuitable for the man was found for him.	20 E così l'uomo impose dei nomi a tutto il bestiame, a tutti i volatili del cielo e a tutte le fiere della steppa; ma, per l'uomo, non fu trovato un aiuto a lui corrispondente.
21 Then, Yahweh God made the man fal into a deep sleep. And, while he was asleep, he took one of hisribs and closed the flesh up again forthwith.	21 Allora il Signore Dio fece cadere un sonno profondo sull'uomo, che si addormentò, poi gli tolse una delle costole e richiuse la carne al suo posto.
22 Yahweh God fashioned the rib he had taken from the man into a woman, and brought her to the man.	22 Il Signore Dio costruì la costola, che aveva tolto all'uomo, formandone una donna. Poi la condusse all'uomo.
23 And the man said: This one at last is bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh! She is to be cal edWoman, because she was taken from Man.	23 Allora l'uomo disse: "Questa volta è osso delle mie ossa e carne della mia carne! Costei si chiamerà donna perché dall'uomo fu tratta".
24 This is why a man leaves his father and mother and becomes attached to his wife, and they becomeone flesh.	24 Per questo l'uomo abbandona suo padre e sua madre e si attacca alla sua donna e i due diventano una sola carne.
25 Now, both of them were naked, the man and his wife, but they felt no shame before each other.	25 Or ambedue erano nudi, l'uomo e la sua donna, ma non sentivano mutua vergogna.
